00:28a fashion statement, whereas other people turn to DIY braces to make their own orthodontic
00:33treatment to save them money from the costs of paying for braces. The trend has been around
00:41for some time with serious consequences. In 2018, Thailand banned fashion braces or fake
00:49braces after two teenagers died from an infection after their braces leaked heavy mails. In
00:56May of this year, the American Orthodontist Association issued a stark warning stating
01:02that they could have serious consequences for dental health. Content creators on social
01:07media have racked up millions of views sharing video tutorials on how to make DIY braces,
01:13how they wear their DIY braces, and some even selling kits on how to make your own DIY braces.
