Tom Brady to the Miami Dolphins?!
He lives in the area, Miami has wanted him before, would he ever come back to the NFL, to play with the Dolphins? Thoughts?
Transcript
00:00But have you ever seen a player in any sport?
00:03We did this, by the way, when the man retired the first time.
00:05Correct.
00:06Yeah.
00:06And we did it when he came back.
00:08We did it when he came back.
00:09I think once is fine enough.
00:11I think if he comes back again after a roast and everything
00:13else, it's too much.
00:16So listen to this, Wiggy.
00:18On the Subaru of New England text line,
00:21you saw how defensive he was at the roast, which Courtney
00:25brought up, when it came to Robert Kraft.
00:27Texter says he would never come back and play in the division.
00:31And I also saw him on a boat saying,
00:34don't test me, young quarterbacks,
00:36and make me have to come out of retirement.
00:39We have never saw a player in any sport.
00:44If Tom Brady came back and played today,
00:46let's just say he did and he went to Miami.
00:48Teams in his backyard, doesn't have to travel,
00:50doesn't have to go away to the West Coast.
00:52They have an unbelievable offense.
00:54They have the most dominant skilled player
00:58in the NFL in Tyree Kill.
00:59If Tom Brady came back today, honestly,
01:03would he be looked at as a top 10 quarterback?
01:05Yeah.
01:06You mean before he plays?
01:08Like, Phil from the Cape says he probably would not.
01:11Hello, Phil?
01:13Yeah, Wiggs, you got to, whatever, I mean,
01:16I don't know what the strand is that you're smoking on
01:19or chewing on this morning.
01:21But one of the last games I got to witness for a standard
01:25inside of Raven-James was the Bengals
01:28playing Tom Brady's Bucs.
01:32Burrow, even in today's current key move
01:35version of a backstreet boy, I'm pretty
01:38sure he could spank Tom Brady.
01:41Tom Brady had a bazillion weapons down in Tampa,
01:45and he couldn't get the job done.
01:46Joe Burrow, easily.
01:48You didn't even, you let him off.
01:50Phil, Phil, Phil.
01:51He had a bazillion weapons his final year in Tampa.
01:54Were you watching that team?
01:55He did.
01:56You're going to tell me that his offensive weapons alone,
02:00every single target he had, Curtis?
02:02Come on.
02:02Did you see the roster he was growing to?
02:04Mike Evans was banged up.
02:06Godwin was coming off a knee injury.
02:08He had no offensive line.
02:11Could have ruined his career by continuing to go one more year.
02:14Look at his numbers.
02:15Phil, look at the year before his final year.
02:18He was the MVP of the NFL.
02:20Curtis, let me say this.
02:21Phil, Phil, here's his numbers.
02:24His last year, top 10 touchdowns,
02:27top five passing yards, he was.
02:30He was in the worst league in the NFL.
02:32He was in the worst division of the NFL.
02:34But I'm talking about overall.
02:36His only Super Bowl ring was the COVID year.
02:39Overall, Phil, Phil, Phil, Phil, listen, Phil, Phil.
02:45Overall, he was third his final year
02:48in passing yards with almost 4,700.
02:52He was behind Justin Herbert and Patrick Mahomes.
02:56Third, he was top 10 when it came to touchdowns.
02:59He had 25 touchdowns and only nine interceptions.
03:03His quarterback rating that year was a little low, was 90.
03:07But we're talking about a team in Miami
03:09that look what two was able to do with that type of talent.
03:14Stop with the Tom Brady.
03:16If he comes out of retirement, you
03:18can't touch the quarterback.
03:21The Fox job will wait for him.
03:23Yes.
03:25I mean, you can rip Brady, believe me.
03:29There's things to rip.
03:30Tom Brady's final year in Tampa, that team was a disaster.
03:35Yes.
03:36The Gronk was out.
03:37They had the offensive line was in shambles.
03:39His starting center got injured in the preseason.
03:41Chris Garville was coming off an ACL injury.
03:43It was a really, really bumpy ride.
03:47The year before, so they win the Super Bowl.
03:49His best season in Tampa was his second year.
03:52He was second in the MVP voting.
03:54He had 40 touchdown passes.
03:57I don't know if he can still do that.
03:59But if I am Steven Ross, and I have
04:03this team that's ready-made, I would absolutely entertain it.
04:07Maybe he can't put up those numbers,
04:08but let me ask the room this question.
04:10If Tom Brady's your quarterback, statistically,
04:13does he have better numbers than Tua would have?
04:15If Tua was healthy, who has better numbers this year
04:18if they're both healthy?
04:20Tom.
04:21I think probably Tom Brady does.
04:24But you don't know.
04:25A year is a long time to be out of it when you're his age.
04:29Yeah, but he's not.
04:30You know that.
04:31I understand, but his-
04:32And it's so easy.
04:34He doesn't take anything easy.
04:36But it's so easy to do the television thing
04:39and to wait till you get your equity stake in the Raiders.
04:44But what does Tom love?
04:46He loves himself.
04:47And he loves people talking about him.
04:48Right, he loves attention.
04:50If he did this and came out-
04:52What if he called his own games while he's on the field?
04:56But no, honestly, though, serious talk.
04:58If he did this and came out and did
05:02what we think he could do, he's already
05:04the greatest quarterback.
05:06He would be talked about in a whole nother level of-
05:10Well, he'd also be talked about poorly legacy-wise
05:13if he comes back and he's not that good.
05:14Yeah, but he has seven Super Bowls.
05:16So those will really go away.
05:17In 100 years, nobody's going to remember how he came back.
05:19And I would just like to say, B Souza, 340,
05:23the people that have this belief where they say,
05:25the only reason the Bucs won the Super Bowl was the defense.
05:31The Bucs that year had the same preseason over-under win
05:36total as the Patriots.
05:38The Bucs were the losingest franchise
05:40in the history of American team professional sports.
05:43They won seven games with Jameis Winston.
05:45They won the Super Bowl with Tom Brady.
05:48He elevated that entire organization.
05:52I mean, if you're the Dolphins, like who-
05:54we talked about Mac Jones.
05:55Who else are you going to go and get?
05:58Ryan Tannehill.
06:00Right, right?
06:01Ryan Tannehill, he's available.
06:03You could trade for Russell Wilson.
06:06Right.
06:07He's available.
06:08Colin Kaepernick.
06:10Right, he's available.
06:11Well, guess what, there's a guy who is five miles away
06:14from your stadium.
06:15You can go pick Bailey Zappi up off the Kansas City Chiefs
06:18practice ball.
06:19He's available.
06:19Or you could say, hey, Tom, listen, you're five miles away.
06:23You don't-
06:23You've got to be here one day a week.
06:26No, you'll be here for a couple of days.
06:27But it's easy to get here.
06:29The only time you've got to worry about traveling
06:31is when we play on the road.
06:32Well, you could probably trade for Zach Wilson.
06:35Right, you could still see your kids.
06:37You could still do all that stuff.
06:39You're in the place that has been trying to woo you,
06:44or was trying to woo you heavy.
06:47And look at the talent.
06:48And you've got a great offensive mind of Mike McDaniels.
06:51Yeah, but Greg brought up the point about if he came back
06:54and was not good.
06:55I know, Curtis, that overall, as a nation, as the world,
06:58we'd never remember.
06:59But Tom, I think that's in the back of his mind,
07:02of like, if you come back, he would never forgive himself.
07:04But he came back, he ended on a bad note.
07:06Right.
07:07He'd be trying to correct the loss
07:08that he had to the Cowboys in the final game.
07:10Do you think Tom Brady has a mindset, if I come back,
07:12I'm going to be bad?
07:14No.
07:14But I think that you have to be realistic,
07:17that you are getting older.
07:19And the fact that you did end on a bad note,
07:21you better come back looking pretty damn good.
07:23And do you think, based on him calling games and him watching,
07:27he goes, Deshaun Watson, and I'm up here doing this?
07:31And this, I'm calling the game.
07:33You don't think that Brady goes, I could do better than this?
07:35I understand Brady's made a lot of claims
07:37about how the game's gotten easier.
07:39I don't think that the game has changed that much
07:41from his last snap to where we are now.
07:43Do you agree with this text message
07:45that if he came back and beat Patrick Mahomes,
07:47it would be the greatest sports story ever?
07:51Yeah.
07:51I hope it's better than the original one
07:53that Wiggy was a part of with the Patriots,
07:55red, white, and blue winning after 9-11.
07:56That doesn't matter.
07:57This is the greatest.
07:58That would be the greatest sports story ever.
08:00A guy takes two years off.
08:02He's the greatest quarterback of all time.
08:05Does a couple of football games, comes back,
08:07and next thing you know, he's hoisting the Lombardi trophy.
08:11At 40, what is it, 46?
08:13He'd have to wait on the ownership
08:15stake in the Raiders.
08:16He'd have to, why does he care?
08:18He doesn't care about that.
08:19That still will be there.
08:21What's he, 40?
08:21And the three-peat too?
08:22That'd be pretty big.
08:23What's he, 46?
08:25And he would win the Super Bowl where it all began,
08:28New Orleans.
08:29Right, and how old is he, 46 years old?
08:32If he does well in Miami, then I'm sure that's the-
08:34Rich Hill of quarterbacks.
08:35Stephen Ross would give him-
08:36Don't you ever put Tom Brady and Rich Hill in the same sentence.
08:39I just wanted to make him mad.
08:40They would give him an equity stake down there.
08:43He's not worried about that.
08:44Is that your alias, Greg, when you check into a hotel?
08:47Rich Hill.
08:47Rich Hill.
08:49TBD, as Craig Breslow said yesterday.
08:54I don't think he appreciated the Rich Hill comment yesterday.
08:57That was, he gave a single chuckle and then went silent.
09:02Speaking of people that like Quidditch, Craig Breslow.
09:05All I know is it's just trending all over the place.
09:08Oh, it is?
09:08Brady, you know, Brady to Miami.
09:10Of course it is, that's how social media works.
09:12You got me excited.
09:13No, Curtis, listen.
09:14He's not coming back, Curtis, don't worry.
09:16It might be in the world that we see it, fantasy land,
09:21but it's a reality in Miami.
09:23I could tempt James to see Tom Brady week five at Gillette Stadium.
09:27You don't think that Miami's Dolphins owner-
09:30Miami's Dolphins.
09:31Is calling Tom all the time.
09:34I don't, I don't care if they're calling all the time.
09:36But that's the reason, but I'm saying-
09:37Tom Brady would have to accept for him to be on the field.
09:40But it's a reality in the world of the Dolphins.
09:43It's there, it's fantasy land to us, but to them, it's reality.
09:47It's more likely Santo actually casts a spell with a wand
09:50than Tom Brady comes back to the program.
09:52I'm not saying he's coming back or anything, but it's a reality.
09:55This is something that the owner of the Dolphins
09:58is probably picking up the phone
10:00every single day, Tom, please come play.
10:03And he'll do that all season long.
10:06Tyreek Hill just did an extension.
10:08You're not going to waste this guy's-
10:11Tyreek Hill's, you know, getting towards the ends of his career.
10:14Mike McDaniels has a team that has high powered off.
10:17It's their reality.
10:18I don't know why people don't see that.
10:20I don't know if this is an accurate report or not,
10:23but the superintendent of Brockton schools
10:26just offered him 14 million to play there this season.
10:30Harold just quoted that as a fact.
10:32Is that true?
10:34Just keep our eyes on it, man.
10:35We're going to keep our eyes on it.
