00:00Fifty families are living in this village.
00:06They say that their family is rich, but there is no guarantee that all of this can be sold.
00:16Aside from this, they are also fighting against the bad weather.
00:20Noy, go back. The storm is strong. Stay here.
00:25Last Monday, the country was hit by a strong storm.
00:29Rizal province is one of the affected areas.
00:32Don't go inside, Noy.
00:35Lori Jean was also affected by the storm.
00:38It's dangerous. The storm is strong.
00:42We are just here now.
00:46We are just here.
00:48This is our only home.
00:53If we lose our land, we cannot recover it.
00:59We have to pay for it.
01:03Because of the storm, they were not able to grow water spinach.
01:08They were forced to water the water spinach that they were planning to sell.
01:14This is our house.
01:17Because of the strong wind, the roof of Lori Jean's house was also affected by the storm.
01:28Because of the strong wind, we don't have electricity.
01:32This is our only home.
01:36If we lose it, we will be left with nothing.
01:40I am the first one to look after our children.
01:43How can we send them to school?
01:45We only earn P300 per day.
01:52But the whole community is more worried about the fact that they will be forced to leave their homes because they are illegal settlers in their area.
02:01We were demolished in the municipality.
02:04They threw stones at our house.
02:08They told us to leave.
02:11We are not sure if we will be able to live here.
02:17Please give us a good place to live.
02:21I have many children.
02:24Where will I throw them?
02:25This place is considered as hazard prone.
02:36We are encouraging them to relocate.
02:39Especially those who live at the end of the road.
02:41If the flood comes, there is a possibility that they will die.
02:48They are stupid.
02:50It's not a problem for them to live here.
02:53But their families are already there.
02:56That's why we are discouraging them.
02:58Our palace is in a city relocation.
03:01We are looking for a place within Angono.
03:04There is a portion in a high place where they are safe.
03:08We want to put them there.
03:10Those who live at the end of the road.
03:13They are not sure if they will be able to live here.
03:19But Lorrie Jean is hoping that their children's dreams will come true.
03:24She said,
03:26Ma'am, I have a dream.
03:28I will finish my studies.
03:30Ma'am, I saw a house.
03:33It's beautiful.
03:35I hope one day I will be able to buy one.
03:39She has a dream that we will leave this place.
03:43That's why I told her, don't dream.
03:46Don't dream.
03:48It might not come true.
03:50I told her, just finish your studies.
03:53I won't be able to get that.
03:56Based on the data released by the PSA or the Philippine Statistics Authority,
04:01in March of 2024, 2.11 million Filipinos are unemployed.
04:06One of the reasons for this is the number of calamities and typhoons that hit our country this year.
04:12But according to the local government of Angono,
04:15they are doing something so that people like Lorrie Jean will not always depend on kangkong.
04:21One thing they identified here is the water hyacinths that are being processed.
04:27Our CTLO and TESDA also have capacity development training that they just need to avail.
04:36The problem with our countrymen is their participation.
04:41Their participation in the government is lukewarm.
04:47We often hear the saying,
04:50just stick to the kangkong so that this place will be dark and desolate.
04:57But what I saw with the kangkong of Rizal is hope.
05:02Even if they drown in the water or are cut off by bad weather,
05:06they will be represented by hard work and help.
05:11If they are given support and a fair opportunity,
05:15surely the dreams they have in the kangkong will one day come true.
