00:00Eddie Victor, top left in that line up there, is joining us now from Jackson, Mississippi where
00:05residents have been dealing with some power outages. And Eddie, I know it was a very,
00:08very wet morning there. How are things going at this point?
00:15Well, Jeff, I came here to this neighborhood just north of downtown because I heard that the power
00:20was out. But when we got here, we found a lot of damage at this one home here behind me. What
00:25we've learned is that a large tree toppled a power line, wiping out power to everyone in
00:31this neighborhood. The good news is a lot of work has been done since this happened.
00:35You can see some tree branches here. Those were cut up and moved to the side of the street.
00:39That gives crews better access to restore power in this area. Another thing I want to point out
00:44is that another tree branch fell on the side of the home here. So this homeowner is dealing
00:49with a lot of damage. I got an opportunity to speak to a neighbor who said she heard a loud
00:55noise at six this morning. All I heard is a big boom and glass shattering. So I just paused a
01:02minute. I'm thinking maybe, well, it's my big wonder right here. But once me and my daughter
01:06come outside and see everything, it was my neighbor, Mr. Darrell. So we just wanted to
01:12check on him to make sure he was okay and everything. And once he came to the door and
01:16I said, Mr. Darrell, he threw his thumb up. I said, you okay? He said, yes. So.
01:20And Sandy, who you just heard from there, says it was very important to check on her neighbor,
01:25Mr. Darrell, because he lives alone. They often look out for each other
01:29in circumstances like this. Now, back here live, I want to show you these two vehicles.
01:34Both of these vehicles were hit by one of the tree branches and have significant damage as well.
01:39So there's certainly a lot of cleanup in this area. But this is just one example of some of
01:43the cleanup happening across the Jackson area today because of the heavy rain.
01:48Rain and wind from this storm, Jeff, looks like a lot of insurance claims will be coming in from
01:53the Gulf Coast all the way into the interior Southeast. Thanks for that report there.
