00:00So let's go and get the latest from Emi Victor in Jackson, Mississippi where residents are already preparing for flooding. Emi?
00:09Well the rain started about 2 p.m. local time here in Jackson
00:13and it hasn't let up but that still hasn't stopped thousands of people in this area for getting prepared for whatever
00:19Francine may bring in terms of rain and flooding. One of the ways people have been taking advantage of a free option here in Jackson
00:27is by coming and grabbing sandbags. It's so important for them to protect their homes and this sandbag location
00:33I'm standing at closes in 15 minutes. I repeat, 15 minutes.
00:37So I met one of the last people coming in today to grab one of these sandbags, William Austin.
00:42Tell me, what brought you here today and how many sandbags are you grabbing?
00:46What brought me here today because I knew this here storm gonna be pretty bad, they say,
00:52Francine, so I want to make sure I'd be ready.
00:54You know, I came here before it closed. I got here about
00:596.15 to get me about, I got about 10 bags.
01:02And I want to protect my home because we on low air, my house is on low air and
01:07look like the water come in my driveway all the time.
01:10Yeah. How concerned are you about flooding? Tell me what would be the first areas of your home to receive water if water comes in?
01:18It would be in my
01:21driveway, in the front of my driveway.
01:24That's where it come in and then it go on back to the back, you know, to my bottom of my driveway.
01:29So I'm very concerned about that. So last year, well about four or five years ago,
01:34I think I got eight bags. This time I got ten. I want to be prepared.
01:40Well, I hope a little extra sandbags make a big difference for you.
01:44How are you gonna quickly prepare for the next 48 hours in other ways?
01:48I'm just gonna put these bags down when we get to the house and you know, got my flashlight and everything, you know.
01:54Make sure I have plenty of water and canned goods and whatever, you know.
01:59Just stay ready because like I said, Francine don't look nice. It's already in Louisiana,
02:05New Orleans, somewhere down there.
02:07Thank you so much for your time. We appreciate it.
02:09We hope your home stays safe.
02:11And this is just one of 38 locations in the state of Mississippi just like this today and people are going to be grabbing these
02:17sandbags for whatever time is left at those locations and making their way home because we know this storm is on its way. The
02:23heaviest impacts being tonight as well as tomorrow morning.
02:25All right, we appreciate your update there.
02:28Emi Victor, as always there. Emi in Jackson, Mississippi, almost precisely 200 miles to the north,
02:33maybe a step east of due north of the center of the storm right now.
02:37Emi, thank you again for that report. We'll look forward to more
02:40updates from you over the next couple of days.
02:41But there it is, Jackson, Mississippi, the big city off to the north here, 200 miles north of the center of the storm.
