00:00Do you sleep well like 7 to 8 hours and still end up feeling tired, groggy and fitty?
00:09So let's look at what are some of the reasons for this.
00:11So the first thing is you need both quantity and quality of sleep.
00:17Sleep is not a single activity.
00:20So during sleep is a four phase activity.
00:24So it is comprised of non REM sleep and REM sleep.
00:28And this entire four stages take about 90 minutes.
00:32And we all go through five to six such cycles of sleep during the night.
00:38So the thing is, you know, if you have only spent enough hours on the bed, but due to
00:44some reason, if the quality of sleep wasn't good, that could be one of the reasons why
00:49you are still feeling fatigue and tired.
00:52So in this case, what you need to do is first, you know, check if there are any physical
00:58causes which could be causing this.
01:00The first thing is, are there any vitamin deficiency, any hormonal fluctuations which
01:05could be causing you to feel tired irrespective of getting sleep?
01:09Like a typical things are, you know, low vitamin D or hypothyroidism is associated with feeling
01:15tired.
01:16So always please do consult a doctor, get the required test to validate it.
01:21The second thing is any other kind of sleep disorder.
01:24Let's say you have something like sleep apnea, which is basically where your, you know, breathing
01:30stops and restarts a couple of times during the night.
01:33It is actually a deadly thing.
01:35And because of which your brain is not getting sufficient oxygen and you know, you could
01:40be feeling tired or snoring, which is again, one of the symptoms of sleep apnea or something
01:45like restless leg syndrome.
01:47So all of these kinds of sleep disorders could be one of the reasons why you're feeling
01:52tired.
01:53So again, you need to consult with a sleep specialist to rule this out.
01:58And then the third thing is some other kind of mental health issues which could be troubling
02:02you.
02:03Typically people who, you know, suffer from anxiety and depression have low energy levels.
02:11And you know, even after having, you know, enough sufficient hours of sleep, that drive
02:18to live life and, you know, tends to be quite low.
02:21So in that case, you need to work with a therapist to understand what is the mental health issue
02:26that you're struggling from.
02:28Is it anxiety?
02:29Is it stress?
02:30Is it depression?
02:31Or is it grief?
02:32And then work on that.
02:34And if required, you might also need to consult a psychiatrist or a doctor to take some medication
02:40along with it.
02:41Yes, medications do, you know, work only on the symptom level.
02:46But sometimes when you're in a lot of pain, then you need to come to at least a stable
02:51level in order to be able to think clearly and, you know, look for a long term solution.
02:57So again, when it comes to medication, always do consult with your doctor who can do a detailed
03:05history and intake and then recommend the right medication.
03:09And apart from that, also, please, you know, speak to a therapist, try to find the root
03:13cause for it.
03:14And, you know, there are many such wonderful techniques like hypnotherapy or CBT or ACT
03:20and choose whichever one, you know, like suits you the best and, you know, work on that simultaneously.
03:26So just to recap, so if you have slept sufficient hours, like say seven to nine hours and still
03:33feeling tired, there could be three reasons.
03:36One is physical issues like vitamin deficiency, hormonal problems.
03:41The second one is, you know, you are having some kind of a sleep disorder, which is keeping
03:47you up at night, even unconsciously.
03:50The third one is some kind of underlying mental health condition, which could be aggravating
03:54the situation.
03:56So you need to be like a detective, rule out one after the other and then go after it.
