00:00For supercar enthusiasts there's nothing more satisfying than hearing the roar of an engine.
00:10But for the Mason Foundation here in Tonbridge, there's nothing more satisfying than giving
00:16back to young people with special educational needs.
00:19So today was the first charity supercar rally that was held for the benefit of the Mason
00:27Foundation.
00:28The Mason Foundation is a charity founded by local businessman Stephen Mason and our
00:33aim as an organisation is to reduce inequalities and support communities and individuals to
00:40live healthier, happier and more fulfilled lives.
00:43The Mason Foundation hosted their first supercar and bike showcase to raise money for their
00:48Propel service, which aims to help businesses develop a working environment where young
00:54employees with mental disabilities can thrive.
00:58One of their main goals is to help employers fill the gap in entry level jobs, from providing
01:04work opportunities to teaching businesses how to accommodate disabled workers.
01:09What they can do is come and talk to us, so here at the Mason Foundation delivering Propel
01:14we can work with more organisations after me through our grant funding programmes and
01:20we can support them to go on that journey to inclusive employment opportunities.
01:25We'd also really recommend any businesses to look up the Disability Confidence Scheme,
01:30the Government Disability Confidence Scheme and align themselves to that, which provides
01:35you some great checklists and starting points for becoming a Disability Confident Employer.
01:39Despite getting unlucky with the weather, the Mason Foundation made sure Tonbridge Castle
01:46matched the likes of Silverstone.
01:48It's a really good crowd, lots of people, very chatty and interested to hear about the
01:54cars. I've really enjoyed it, this is our first rally so it's been well worth it.
01:59The Mason Foundation are already moving up a gear for next year's showcase.
02:04This was a prototype for next year, next year will be a much, much bigger event. The idea
02:10was to get 100 committed supercar drivers, we've had 70 today which is great. They'll
02:17form the backbone of next year so it'll be a lot bigger and I'm pleased to say that
02:22everybody's interacted like I wanted them to do. They are learning from each other which
02:27is good. So apart from the weather, I couldn't do much about that, I did try, but it's been
02:32a success, we're very happy with it as the prototype was made.
