00:05:08for vice president kamala harris this is
00:05:10her first debate since president biden

00:05:14of course that decision followed his
00:05:16debate against president donald trump in
00:05:18june
00:05:18since then this race has taken on an
00:05:20entirely new dynamic and that brings us

00:05:35follow-ups clarifications or responses

00:05:46center this is an intimate setting for
00:05:48two candidates
00:05:49who have never met president trump won
00:05:51the coin toss he chose to deliver the
00:05:53final closing statement of the evening
00:05:55vice president harris selected the
00:05:57podium to the right so let's now welcome
00:05:59the candidates to the stage vice
00:06:00president kamala harris and president
00:06:02donald trump
00:06:10kamala harris what's up good debate you
00:06:13see you have fun
00:06:13thank you welcome to you both it's
00:06:16wonderful to have you it's an honor to
00:06:18have you both here tonight
00:06:19good evening we are looking forward to a
00:06:21spirited and thoughtful debate so let's
00:06:23get started
00:06:24i want to begin tonight with the issue
00:06:26that voters repeatedly say is their
00:06:27number one issue and that is the economy
00:06:29and the cost of living in this country
00:06:32vice president harris you and president
00:06:33trump were elected four years ago and
00:06:35your opponent on the stage here tonight
00:06:37often asks his supporters are you better
00:06:39off than you were four years ago
00:06:41when it comes to the economy do you
00:06:43believe americans are better off than
00:06:44they were four years ago
00:06:46so i was raised as a middle-class kid
00:06:50and i am actually the only person on
00:06:53this stage who has a plan that is about
00:06:55lifting up the middle class and working
00:06:56people of america
00:06:58i believe in the ambition the
00:07:00aspirations the dreams of the american
00:07:03people
00:07:03and that is why i imagine and have
00:07:06actually a plan to build what i call an
00:07:08opportunity economy
00:07:09because here's the thing we know that we
00:07:12have a
00:07:12shortage of homes and housing and the
00:07:15cost of housing is too expensive for far
00:07:17too many people
00:07:18we know that young families need
00:07:20support
00:07:21to raise their children and i intend on
00:07:24extending
00:07:25a tax cut for those families of six
00:07:27thousand dollars which is the largest
00:07:29child tax credit that we have given in a
00:07:31long time so that those young families
00:07:34can afford to buy a crib
00:07:35buy a car seat buy clothes for their
00:07:37children
00:07:39my passion one of them is small
00:07:42businesses i was actually
00:07:43my mother raised my sister and me but
00:07:46there was a woman who helped raise us we
00:07:47call her our second mother she was a
00:07:49small business owner i love our small
00:07:51businesses
00:07:52my plan is to give a fifty thousand
00:07:54dollar tax deduction
00:07:56to start up small businesses knowing
00:07:59they are part of the backbone of
00:08:00america's economy
00:08:02my opponent on the other hand his plan
00:08:04is to do what he has done before which
00:08:07is to provide a tax cut for billionaires
00:08:09and big corporations which will result
00:08:12in five trillion dollars to america's
00:08:14deficit
00:08:15my opponent has a plan that i call the
00:08:17trump's sales tax
00:08:18which would be a twenty percent tax on
00:08:21everyday goods that you rely on to get
00:08:24through the month
00:08:25economists have said that that trump
00:08:28sales tax would actually result
00:08:30for middle-class families in about four
00:08:32thousand dollars more
00:08:34a year because of his policies and his
00:08:37ideas
00:08:38about what should be the backs of
00:08:41middle-class people paying
00:08:43for tax cuts for billionaires president
00:08:46trump i'll give you two minutes
00:08:47first of all i have no sales tax that's
00:08:49an incorrect statement she knows that
00:08:51we're doing tariffs on other countries
00:08:53other countries are going to finally
00:08:55after
00:08:5675 years pay us back for all that we've
00:08:58done for the world
00:09:00and the tariff will be substantial in
00:09:02some cases i took in billions and
00:09:04billions of dollars as you know from
00:09:06china
00:09:06in fact they never took the tariff off
00:09:08because it was so much money they can't
00:09:10it would totally destroy everything that
00:09:12they've set out to do
00:09:13they're taking in billions of dollars
00:09:15from china and other places they've left
00:09:17the tariffs on
00:09:18when i had it i had tariffs and yet i
00:09:20had no inflation
00:09:21look we've had a terrible economy
00:09:24because inflation has which is really
00:09:26known as a country buster it breaks up
00:09:28countries
00:09:29we have inflation like very few people
00:09:31have ever seen before
00:09:32probably the worst in our nation's
00:09:34history we were at 21 percent but that's
00:09:37being generous because many things are
00:09:3950 60 70 and 80 percent higher
00:09:41than they were just a few years ago this
00:09:44has been a disaster for people for the
00:09:46middle class but for every class
00:09:48on top of that we have millions of
00:09:50people pouring into our country from
00:09:52prisons and jails from mental
00:09:54institutions and insane asylums
00:09:56and they're coming in and they're taking
00:09:59jobs that are occupied right now by
00:10:01african-americans and hispanics
00:10:03and also unions unions are going to be
00:10:05affected very soon
00:10:07and you see what's happening you see
00:10:08what's happening with towns throughout
00:10:10the united states you look at
00:10:11springfield ohio you look at aurora
00:10:14in colorado they are taking over the
00:10:17towns they're taking over buildings
00:10:18they're going in violently
00:10:20these are the people that she and biden
00:10:24led into our country and they're
00:10:26destroying our country
00:10:27they're dangerous they're at the highest
00:10:29level of criminality
00:10:31and we have to get them out we have to
00:10:32get them out fast i created one of the
00:10:35greatest economies in the history of our
00:10:37country
00:10:38i'll do it again and even better we are
00:10:40going to get to immigration and border
00:10:41security during this debate but
00:10:43i would like to let vice president
00:10:45harris respond on the economy here well
00:10:47i would love to let's talk about what
00:10:50donald trump
00:10:51left us donald trump left us the worst
00:10:55unemployment since the great depression
00:10:58donald trump left us the worst public
00:11:00health
00:11:02epidemic in a century donald trump
00:11:05left us the worst attack on our
00:11:08democracy
00:11:09since the civil war and what we have
00:11:13done is clean up donald trump's mess
00:11:15what we have done and what i intend to
00:11:17do is build
00:11:19on what we know are the aspirations and
00:11:21the hopes of the american people but i'm
00:11:22going to tell you all in this debate
00:11:23tonight
00:11:24you're going to hear from the same old
00:11:26tired playbook
00:11:28a bunch of lies grievances and name
00:11:31calling
00:11:31what you're going to hear tonight is a
00:11:34detailed
00:11:35and dangerous plan called project 2025
00:11:38that the former president intends on
00:11:40implementing if he were
00:11:41elected again i believe very strongly
00:11:45that the american people want a
00:11:47president who understands the importance
00:11:49of bringing us together know we have so
00:11:51much more in common than what separates
00:11:53us
00:11:54and i pledge to you to be a president
00:11:56for all americans president trump will
00:11:58give you a minute here to respond
00:11:59number one i have nothing to do as you
00:12:00know and as she knows better than anyone
00:12:02i have nothing to do with
00:12:03project 2025 that's out there i haven't
00:12:07read it i don't want to read it
00:12:08purposely i'm not going to read it this
00:12:10was a group of people that got together
00:12:12they came up with some ideas i guess
00:12:13some good some bad
00:12:15but it makes no difference i have
00:12:16nothing to do everybody knows i'm an
00:12:18open book everybody knows what i'm going
00:12:20to do cut taxes very substantially
00:12:22and create a great economy like i did
00:12:24before we had the greatest economy we
00:12:26got hit with a pandemic
00:12:28and the pandemic was not since 1917
00:12:31where 100 million people died
00:12:33has there been anything like it we did a
00:12:34phenomenal job with the pandemic
00:12:37we handed them over a country where the
00:12:40economy and where the stock market was
00:12:42higher than it was before the pandemic
00:12:44came in
00:12:45nobody's ever seen anything like it we
00:12:47made ventilators for the entire world we
00:12:50got gowns we got masks we did things that
00:12:52nobody thought possible
00:12:53and people give me credit for rebuilding
00:12:55the military they give me credit for a
00:12:57lot of things
00:12:58but not enough credit for the great job
00:13:00we did with the pandemic but the only
00:13:02jobs they got were bounce back jobs these
00:13:04were jobs
00:13:05bounce back and it bounced back and it
00:13:06went to their benefit
00:13:08but i was the one that created them
00:13:10they know it and so does everybody else
00:13:11vice president harris i'll let you
00:13:12respond
00:13:14so donald trump has no plan for you
00:13:18and when you look at his economic plan
00:13:20it's all about tax breaks for the richest
00:13:22people
00:13:23i am offering what i describe as an
00:13:26opportunity economy
00:13:28and the best economists in our country
00:13:30if not the world
00:13:31have reviewed our relative plans for the
00:13:34future of america
00:13:36what goldman sachs has said is that
00:13:38donald trump's plan
00:13:40would make the economy worst mine would
00:13:42strengthen the economy
00:13:43what the wharton school has said is
00:13:45donald trump's plan
00:13:47would actually explode the deficit
00:13:5016 nobel laureates have described
00:13:53his economic plan as something that
00:13:55would increase
00:13:56inflation and by the middle of next year
00:13:59would invite a recession
00:14:01you just have to look at where we are
00:14:03and where we stand on the issues and i'd
00:14:05invite you to know
00:14:06that donald trump actually has no plan
00:14:09for you
00:14:10because he is more interested in
00:14:11defending himself than he is in looking
00:14:14out for you
00:14:15that's just a soundbite they gave her
00:14:16that to say look
00:14:18i went to the wharton school of finance
00:14:20and many of those professors the top
00:14:22professors
00:14:22think my plan is a brilliant plan it's a
00:14:24great plan it's a plan that's going to
00:14:26bring up our our worth our value as a
00:14:29country it's going to make
00:14:30people want to be able to go and work
00:14:32and create jobs and create a lot of
00:14:35good solid money for our company for our
00:14:37country
00:14:38just to finish off she doesn't have a
00:14:41plan
00:14:42she copied biden's plan and it's like
00:14:45four
00:14:46sentences like run spot run four
00:14:49sentences that are just
00:14:50oh we'll try and lower taxes she doesn't
00:14:53have a plan take a look at her plan
00:14:55she doesn't have a plan mr president i
00:14:57do want to drill down on something you
00:14:58both brought up
00:14:59the vice president brought up your
00:15:01tariffs you responded and let's drill
00:15:03down on this because
00:15:04your plan is what she calls is
00:15:06essentially a national sales tax your
00:15:08proposal calls for tariffs as you
00:15:09pointed out here
00:15:10on foreign imports across the board you
00:15:12recently said that you might double your
00:15:14plan imposing
00:15:15tariffs up to 20 percent on goods coming
00:15:17into this country
00:15:18as you know many economists say that
00:15:19with tariffs at that level costs are
00:15:21then passed on to the consumer
00:15:23vice president harris has argued it'll
00:15:25mean higher prices on gas
00:15:26food clothing medication arguing it
00:15:29costs the typical family nearly four
00:15:31thousand dollars a year
00:15:32do you believe americans can afford
00:15:34higher prices because of tariffs they're
00:15:36not going to have higher prices what's
00:15:37going to happen who's going to have
00:15:38higher prices is china
00:15:40and all of the countries that have been
00:15:42ripping us off for years
00:15:44i charge i was the only president ever
00:15:46china was paying us hundreds of billions
00:15:49of dollars and so were other countries
00:15:51and you know if she doesn't like them
00:15:53they should have gone out and they
00:15:54should have immediately cut the tariffs
00:15:56but those tariffs are there three and a
00:15:57half years now
00:15:58under their administration we are going
00:16:01to take in
00:16:02billions of dollars hundreds of
00:16:04billions of dollars
00:16:06i had no inflation virtually no
00:16:08inflation they had the highest inflation
00:16:10perhaps in the history of our country
00:16:12because i've never seen a worse period
00:16:14of time
00:16:14people can't go out and buy cereal or
00:16:16bacon or eggs or anything else
00:16:19these the people of our country are
00:16:21absolutely dying with what they've done
00:16:24they've destroyed the economy and all
00:16:26you have to do is look at a poll
00:16:27the polls say 80 and 85 and even 90
00:16:31percent
00:16:31that the trump economy was great that
00:16:33their economy was terrible
00:16:35vice president harris i do want to ask
00:16:37for your response and you heard what the
00:16:38president said there because the biden
00:16:39administration did keep
00:16:41a number of the trump tariffs in place
00:16:43so how do you respond
00:16:44well let's be clear that the trump
00:16:46administration resulted in a trade
00:16:48deficit one of the highest we've ever
00:16:50seen in the history of america
00:16:52he invited trade wars you want to talk
00:16:55about his
00:16:56deal with china what he ended up doing
00:16:58is under donald trump's presidency
00:17:01he ended up selling american chips
00:17:04to china to help them improve and
00:17:07modernize their military
00:17:09basically sold us out when a policy
00:17:12about china should be
00:17:14in making sure the united states of
00:17:16america wins the competition for the
00:17:1821st century
00:17:19which means focusing on the details of
00:17:21what that requires
00:17:23focusing on relationships with our
00:17:25allies focusing on investing in
00:17:27american-based technology
00:17:28so that we win the race on ai on quantum
00:17:32computing
00:17:33focusing on what we need to do to
00:17:35support america's workforce
00:17:37so that we don't end up having the on
00:17:39the short end of the stick
00:17:41in terms of workers rights but what
00:17:44donald trump did let's talk about this
00:17:46with kovid is he actually thanked
00:17:49president xi for what he did during
00:17:51kovid look at his tweet
00:17:53thank you president xi exclamation point
00:17:56when we know that she was responsible
00:17:59for lacking and not giving us
00:18:01transparency about the
00:18:03origins of kovid president trump i'll
00:18:05let you respond first of all they bought
00:18:06their chips from
00:18:08taiwan we hardly make chips anymore
00:18:10because of
00:18:11philosophies like they have and policies
00:18:14like
00:18:14they have i don't say her because she
00:18:16has no policy everything
00:18:18that she believed three years ago and
00:18:20four years ago is out the window
00:18:22she's going to my philosophy now in fact
00:18:24i was going to send her a mega hat
00:18:26she's gone to my philosophy but if she
00:18:28ever got elected she'd change it
00:18:30and it will be the end of our country
00:18:33she's a marxist everybody knows she's a
00:18:35marxist her father's a marxist professor
00:18:38in economics
00:18:39and he taught her well but when you look
00:18:41at what she's done to our country
00:18:43and when you look at these millions and
00:18:46millions of people that are pouring into
00:18:47our country
00:18:48monthly where it's i believe 21 million
00:18:51people not the 15 that people say
00:18:53and i think it's a lot higher than the
00:18:5421 that's bigger than new york state
00:18:57pouring in
00:18:58and just look at what they're doing to
00:18:59our country
00:19:00they're criminals many of these people
00:19:02coming in are criminals and that's bad
00:19:04for our economy too you know you
00:19:06mentioned before we'll talk about
00:19:07immigration later
00:19:08well bad immigration is the worst thing
00:19:10that can happen to our economy
00:19:12they have and she has destroyed
00:19:16our country with policy that's insane
00:19:19almost policy that you'd say they have
00:19:21to hate our country president trump
00:19:23thank you lindsey i want to turn to the
00:19:25issue of abortion president trump you've
00:19:27often touted that you were able to kill
00:19:29roe v wade
00:19:30last year you said that you were proud
00:19:32to be the most pro-life president in
00:19:34american history
00:19:36then last month you said that your
00:19:37administration would be great for women
00:19:39and their reproductive rights
00:19:41in your home state of florida you
00:19:42surprised many with regard to your six
00:19:45week abortion ban because you initially
00:19:46had said
00:19:47that it was too short and you said quote
00:19:49i'm going to be voting that we need more
00:19:51than six weeks but then
00:19:52the very next day you reversed course
00:19:55and said you would vote to support the
00:19:56six-week ban
00:19:58vice president harris says that women
00:20:00shouldn't trust you on the issue of
00:20:02abortion because
00:20:03you've changed your position so many
00:20:05times therefore
00:20:06why should they trust well the reason
00:20:08i'm doing that vote is because
00:20:10the plan is as you know the voters they
00:20:12have
00:20:13abortion in the ninth month they even
00:20:16have and you can look at the governor
00:20:17of west virginia the previous governor
00:20:19of west virginia not the current
00:20:21governor is doing an excellent job
00:20:23but the governor before he said the baby
00:20:26will be born
00:20:27and we will decide what to do with the
00:20:28baby in other words we'll execute the
00:20:30baby
00:20:30and that's why i did that because that
00:20:33predominates because they're radical the
00:20:35democrats are radical in that
00:20:37and her vice presidential pick which i
00:20:39think is a horrible pick by the way for
00:20:41our country
00:20:42because he is really out of it but her
00:20:44vice presidential pick says
00:20:46abortion in the ninth month is
00:20:48absolutely fine he also says execution
00:20:52after birth it's execution no longer
00:20:54abortion because the baby is born
00:20:56is okay and that's not okay with me
00:20:59hence the vote but what i did is
00:21:01something
00:21:02for 52 years they've been trying to get
00:21:04roe v wade
00:21:06into the states and through the
00:21:10genius and and heart and strength
00:21:13of six supreme court justices
00:21:16we were able to do that now i believe in
00:21:18the exceptions for
00:21:19rape incest and life of the mother i
00:21:22believe strongly in it ronald reagan did
00:21:24also
00:21:2485 percent of republicans do exceptions
00:21:27very important
00:21:28but we were able to get it and now
00:21:30states are voting on it
00:21:32and for the first time you're going to
00:21:34see look this is
00:21:35an issue that's torn our country apart
00:21:38for 52 years
00:21:40every legal scholar every democrat every
00:21:43republican
00:21:44liberal conservative they all wanted
00:21:46this issue to be brought back to the
00:21:48states where the people could vote
00:21:49and that's what happened happened now
00:21:52ohio
00:21:53the vote was somewhat liberal kansas
00:21:56the vote was somewhat liberal much more
00:21:57liberal than people would have thought
00:21:59but each individual state is voting
00:22:02it's the vote of the people now it's
00:22:04not tied up in the federal government
00:22:06i did a great service in doing it it
00:22:07took courage to do it and the supreme
00:22:09court had great courage in doing it
00:22:11and i give tremendous credit to those
00:22:13six justices
00:22:15there is no state in this country where
00:22:16it is legal to kill a baby
00:22:18after it's born madam vice president
00:22:20want to get your response to president
00:22:21trump
00:22:22well as i said you're going to hear a
00:22:23bunch of lies and that's not actually a
00:22:25surprising fact
00:22:27let's understand how we got here donald
00:22:30trump
00:22:31hand selected three members of the
00:22:33united states supreme court with the
00:22:35intention
00:22:35that they would undo the protections of
00:22:37roe v wade
00:22:39and they did exactly as he intended and
00:22:41now in
00:22:42over 20 states there are trump
00:22:45abortion bans which make it
00:22:48criminal for a doctor or nurse to
00:22:51provide health care in one state
00:22:53it provides prison for life trump
00:22:56abortion bans that make no exception
00:22:58even for rape and incest which
00:22:59understand what that means a survivor of
00:23:02a crime
00:23:03a violation to their body does not have
00:23:06the right to make a decision about what
00:23:08happens
00:23:08to their body next that is immoral
00:23:12and one does not have to abandon their
00:23:14faith
00:23:15or deeply held beliefs to agree the
00:23:18government
00:23:19and donald trump certainly should not be
00:23:21telling a woman what to do
00:23:23with her body i have talked with women
00:23:26around our country you want to talk
00:23:29about this is what people wanted
00:23:31pregnant women who want to carry a
00:23:34pregnancy to term
00:23:35suffering from a miscarriage being
00:23:37denied care in an emergency room because
00:23:39the health care providers
00:23:41are afraid they might go to jail and
00:23:43she's bleeding out in a car in the
00:23:44parking lot
00:23:46she didn't want that her husband didn't
00:23:48want that
00:23:49a 12 or 13 year old survivor of incest
00:23:52being forced to carry a pregnancy to
00:23:54term
00:23:56they don't want that and i pledge to you
00:24:00when congress passes a bill to put back
00:24:03in place the protections of roe v wade
00:24:05as president of the united states i will
00:24:07proudly
00:24:08sign it in to law but understand
00:24:12if donald trump were to be re-elected he
00:24:15will sign a national abortion ban
00:24:17understand in his project 2025 there
00:24:19would be a national abortion
00:24:21a monitor that would be monitoring your
00:24:23pregnancies your miscarriages
00:24:25i think the american people believe that
00:24:28certain freedoms
00:24:30in particular the freedom to make
00:24:32decisions about one's own body
00:24:34should not be made by the government
00:24:36thank you vice president harris well
00:24:38there she goes again
00:24:39it's a lie i'm not signing a ban and
00:24:42there's no reason to sign a ban because
00:24:44we've gotten what everybody wanted
00:24:46democrats republicans and everybody else
00:24:50and every legal scholar wanted it to be
00:24:52brought back into the states and the
00:24:54states are voting
00:24:55and it may take a little time but for 52
00:24:58years this issue
00:25:00has torn our country apart and they've
00:25:03wanted it back in the states and i did
00:25:05something that nobody thought was
00:25:07possible
00:25:08the states are now voting what she says
00:25:11is an absolute lie and as far as the
00:25:13abortion ban
00:25:15no i'm not in favor of abortion ban but
00:25:17it doesn't matter
00:25:18because this issue has now been taken
00:25:20over by the states would you veto a
00:25:22national abortion ban if it well i won't
00:25:24have to because again
00:25:26two things number one she said she'll go
00:25:28back to congress she'll never get the
00:25:29vote it's impossible for her to get the
00:25:31vote
00:25:31especially now with the 50 50 and
00:25:34essentially 50 50 in both
00:25:36senate and the house she's not going to
00:25:38get the vote she can't get the vote she
00:25:39won't even come close to it so it's just
00:25:41talk
00:25:42you know what it reminds me of when they
00:25:43said they're going to get student loans
00:25:45terminated and it ended up being a total
00:25:47catastrophe
00:25:48the student loans and then her i think
00:25:51probably her boss
00:25:53if you call him a boss he spends all his
00:25:54time on the beach but look
00:25:56her boss went out and said we'll do it
00:25:58again we'll do it a different way and he
00:26:00went out
00:26:00got rejected again by the supreme court
00:26:03so all these students got
00:26:05taunted with this whole thing about this
00:26:07whole idea
00:26:08and how unfair that would have been part
00:26:10of the reason they lost
00:26:11to the millions and millions of people
00:26:14that had to pay off their student loans
00:26:16they didn't get it for free but they
00:26:17were saying it's the same way that they
00:26:20talked about that
00:26:21that they talk about abortion but if i
00:26:23could just get a yes or no because
00:26:24you're running me
00:26:25jenna jd vance has said that you would
00:26:27veto
00:26:28if you did come to your desk well i
00:26:29didn't discuss it with jd in all fairness
00:26:32jd and i i don't mind if he has a
00:26:35certain view but i think he was speaking
00:26:36for me but
00:26:37i really didn't look we don't have to
00:26:40discuss it because
00:26:41she'd never be able to get it just like
00:26:43she couldn't get student loans they
00:26:44couldn't get student loans they didn't
00:26:45even come close to getting student loans
00:26:47they taunted young people and a lot of
00:26:50other people that had loans
00:26:52they can never get this approved so it
00:26:53doesn't matter what she says about going
00:26:55to congress so wonderful let's go to
00:26:56congress do it
00:26:58but the fact is that for years they
00:26:59wanted to get it out of congress and out
00:27:01of the federal government
00:27:02and we did something that everybody said
00:27:04couldn't be done and now
00:27:06you have a vote of the people on
00:27:07abortion vice president harris want to
00:27:09give you your time to respond but i do
00:27:11want to ask would you support
00:27:12any restrictions on a woman's right to
00:27:14an abortion i absolutely support
00:27:17reinstating the protections of roe v
00:27:19wade
00:27:19and as you rightly mentioned nowhere in
00:27:23america
00:27:25is a woman carrying a pregnancy to term
00:27:28and and asking for an abortion that is
00:27:31not happening it's insulting
00:27:33to the women of america and understand
00:27:35what has been happening under donald
00:27:37trump's abortion bans
00:27:39couples who pray and and and dream of
00:27:43having a family
00:27:44are being denied ivf treatments what is
00:27:48happening in our country
00:27:50working people working women who are
00:27:53working one or two jobs
00:27:55who can barely afford child care as it
00:27:58is have to travel to another state
00:28:01to get on a plane sitting next to
00:28:03strangers
00:28:04to go and get the health care she needs
00:28:08barely can afford to do it and what you
00:28:10are putting her through
00:28:12is unconscionable and the people of
00:28:15america
00:28:16have not the majority of americans
00:28:18believe in a woman's right to make
00:28:20decisions about her own body
00:28:22and that is why in every state where
00:28:24this issue has been on the ballot in red
00:28:27and blue states both
00:28:28the people of america have voted for
00:28:30freedom vice president excuse me i have
00:28:32to respond
00:28:33another lie it's another lie i have been
00:28:36a leader
00:28:37on ivf with which is fertilization the
00:28:39ivf
00:28:40i have been a leader in fact when they
00:28:43got a very negative decision on ivf
00:28:46from the alabama courts i saw the people
00:28:48of alabama and the legislature two days
00:28:51later voted it in
00:28:52i've been a leader on it they know that
00:28:55and everybody else knows it
00:28:56i have been a leader on fertilization
00:28:59ivf and the other thing they
00:29:02you should ask will she allow abortion
00:29:05in the eighth month ninth month seventh
00:29:08month
00:29:08come on okay would you do that why don't
00:29:11you ask that question
00:29:13that's the problem would you because
00:29:14under roe v wade answer the question
00:29:16you could you could do abortions in the
00:29:18seventh month
00:29:19the eighth month the ninth month and
00:29:21probably after birth
00:29:22just look at the governor former
00:29:24governor of virginia
00:29:26the governor of virginia said we put the
00:29:28baby aside and then we determine what we
00:29:30want to do with the baby president trump
00:29:32thank you we're going to turn now to
00:29:33immigration and border security we know
00:29:35it's an issue that's important to
00:29:36republicans democrats voters across the
00:29:38board
00:29:39in this country vice president harris
00:29:41you were tasked by president biden with
00:29:43getting to the root causes of migration
00:29:44from central america
00:29:46we know that illegal border crossings
00:29:48reached a record high in the biden
00:29:49administration this past june
00:29:51president biden imposed tough new asylum
00:29:53restrictions we know the numbers since
00:29:55then have dropped
00:29:56significantly but my question to you
00:29:58tonight is why did the administration
00:30:00wait until six months before the election
00:30:02to act
00:30:03and would you have done anything
00:30:04differently from president biden on
00:30:06this so i'm the only person on this stage
00:30:08who has prosecuted transnational
00:30:10criminal organizations
00:30:11for the trafficking of guns drugs and
00:30:14human beings
00:30:16and let me say that the united states
00:30:18congress including some of the most
00:30:20conservative members of the united states
00:30:21senate
00:30:22came up with a border security bill
00:30:25which i supported and that bill would
00:30:28have put
00:30:281500 more border agents on the border to
00:30:31help those folks who are working there
00:30:33right now
00:30:34over time trying to do their job it
00:30:37would have allowed
00:30:38us to stem the flow of fentanyl coming
00:30:41into the united states
00:30:42i know there are so many families
00:30:43watching tonight who have been
00:30:45personally affected
00:30:46by the surge of fentanyl in our country
00:30:49that bill would have put more resources
00:30:51to allow us
00:30:52to prosecute transnational criminal
00:30:54organizations for trafficking in guns
00:30:56drugs and human beings but you know what
00:30:58happened
00:30:58to that bill donald trump got on the
00:31:01phone called up
00:31:02some folks in congress and said kill the
00:31:04bill and you know why
00:31:06because he'd prefer to run on a problem
00:31:08instead of fixing
00:31:10a problem and understand this comes
00:31:13at a time where the people of our
00:31:16country
00:31:17actually need a leader who engages in
00:31:20solutions
00:31:21who actually addresses the problems at
00:31:24hand
00:31:24but what we have in the former
00:31:26president is someone who would prefer to
00:31:28run on a problem
00:31:29instead of fixing a problem and i'll
00:31:31tell you something he's going to talk
00:31:32about immigration a lot tonight even
00:31:33when it's not the subject that is being
00:31:35raised
00:31:36and i'm going to actually do something
00:31:37really unusual and i'm going to invite
00:31:39you
00:31:40to attend one of donald trump's rallies
00:31:42because it's a really interesting thing
00:31:43to watch
00:31:44you will see during the course of his
00:31:46rallies he talks about fictional
00:31:47characters like hannibal lecter
00:31:50he will talk about when mills cause
00:31:52cancer
00:31:53and what you will also notice is that
00:31:55people start leaving his rallies
00:31:56early out of exhaustion and boredom
00:31:59and i will tell you the one thing you
00:32:01will not hear him talk about
00:32:02is you you will not hear him talk about
00:32:04your needs your dreams and your need and
00:32:07your desires
00:32:08and i'll tell you i believe you deserve
00:32:10a president who actually puts you first
00:32:13and i pledge to you that i will
00:32:14vice president harris thank you
00:32:16president trump on that point i want to
00:32:17get your response i would like to
00:32:18respond let me just ask though why did
00:32:20you try to
00:32:20kill that bill and successfully so that
00:32:22would have put thousands of additional
00:32:23agents and officers on the border first
00:32:25let me respond is to the rallies
00:32:27she said people start leaving people
00:32:29don't go to her rallies there's no
00:32:30reason to go
00:32:31and the people that do go she's bussing
00:32:33them in and paying them to be there
00:32:35and then showing them in a different
00:32:38light so
00:32:39she can't talk about that people don't
00:32:40leave my rallies we have the biggest
00:32:42rallies the most incredible rallies in
00:32:44the history of politics
00:32:45that's because people want to take their
00:32:47country back our country
00:32:49is being lost we're a failing nation and
00:32:52it happened
00:32:52three and a half years ago and what
00:32:55what's going on here you're going to end
00:32:57up in world war three just to go into
00:32:59another subject
00:33:00what they have done to our country by
00:33:02allowing these millions and millions of
00:33:04people to come into our country
00:33:06and look at what's happening to the
00:33:08towns all over the united states and a
00:33:10lot of towns don't want to talk it's not
00:33:11going to be aurora or springfield
00:33:13a lot of towns don't want to talk about
00:33:15it because they're so embarrassed by it
00:33:17in springfield they're eating the dogs
00:33:20the people that came in they're eating
00:33:22the cats
00:33:23they're eating they're eating the pets
00:33:26of the people that live there and this
00:33:29is what's happening
00:33:30in our country and it's a shame as far
00:33:33as
00:33:34rallies are concerned as far as the
00:33:36reason they go is they like what i say
00:33:39they want to bring our country back they
00:33:41want to make america great again it's
00:33:42very simple phrase
00:33:44make america great again she's
00:33:46destroying this country
00:33:47and if she becomes president this
00:33:49country doesn't have a chance of success
00:33:52not only success will end up being
00:33:54venezuela on steroids i just want to
00:33:57clarify here you bring up springfield
00:33:59ohio and abc news did reach out to the
00:34:01city manager there
00:34:02he told us there had been no credible
00:34:04reports of specific claims of pets being
00:34:06harmed
00:34:07injured or abused by individuals within
00:34:09the immigrant community all this people
00:34:11on television let me just say here this
00:34:12is the people on television say my dog
00:34:14was taken
00:34:15and used for food so maybe he said that
00:34:18and maybe that's a good thing to say for
00:34:20a city manager i'm not taking this from
00:34:21television but the people on television
00:34:23dog was eaten by the people that went
00:34:26there
00:34:27again the springfield city manager says
00:34:29there's no evidence of that vice
00:34:30president harris i'll let you respond to
00:34:31the rest of what you've heard
00:34:33you talk about extreme uh
00:34:36you know i this is i think one of the
00:34:39reasons why
00:34:40in this election i actually have the
00:34:42endorsement
00:34:44of 200 republicans who have formally
00:34:47worked with president bush
00:34:49mitt romney and john mccain including
00:34:52the endorsement of
00:34:54former vice president dick cheney and
00:34:56congress member
00:34:57liz cheney and if you want to really
00:35:00know
00:35:01the inside track on who the former
00:35:04president is
00:35:04if he didn't make it clear already just
00:35:07ask people who have worked with him
00:35:09his former chief of staff a four-star
00:35:11general
00:35:12has said he has contempt for the
00:35:13constitution of the united states
00:35:15his former national security advisor has
00:35:18said he is dangerous and
00:35:19unfit his former secretary of defense
00:35:23has said the nation the republic would
00:35:25never survive
00:35:26another trump term and when we
00:35:30listen to this kind of rhetoric when the
00:35:34issues that affect the american people
00:35:36are not being addressed
00:35:38i think the choice is clear in this
00:35:39election president trump will give you a
00:35:41quick minute to respond yeah
00:35:42uh thank you because when i hear that
00:35:46see i'm a different kind of a person i
00:35:48fired
00:35:49most of those people not so graciously
00:35:51they did
00:35:52bad things or a bad job i fired them
00:35:54they never fired one person
00:35:56they didn't fire anybody having to do
00:35:58with afghanistan and the taliban and the
00:36:0013 people
00:36:01who's who's were just killed viciously
00:36:04and violently killed and i got to know
00:36:06the parents and the family
00:36:08they didn't fire they should have fired
00:36:09all those generals all those top
00:36:12people because that was one of the most
00:36:13incompetently handled situations
00:36:15anybody has ever seen so when somebody
00:36:19does a bad job
00:36:20i fire them and you take a guy like
00:36:22esper he was no good i fired him so he
00:36:24writes a book another one writes a book
00:36:26because with me they can write books
00:36:28with nobody else can they
00:36:29but they have done such a poor job and
00:36:32they never
00:36:33fire anybody look at the economy look
00:36:36look at the inflation
00:36:37they didn't fire any of their economists
00:36:39they have the same people
00:36:40that's a good way not to have books
00:36:42written about you
00:36:43but just to finish i got more votes than
00:36:46any republican
00:36:47in history by far in fact
00:36:51i got more votes than any president
00:36:53sitting president
00:36:54in history by far let me continue on
00:36:58immigration it was what you wanted to
00:36:59talk about earlier so let's get back to
00:37:00your deportation
00:37:01uh proposal that the vice president has
00:37:04reacted to
00:37:05as well president trump you call this
00:37:07the largest domestic deportation
00:37:09operation in the history of our country
00:37:10you say you would use the national guard
00:37:12you say if things get out of control
00:37:13you'd have
00:37:14no problem using the u.s military
00:37:16you also said you would use local police
00:37:19how would you deport 11 million
00:37:21undocumented immigrants i know you
00:37:23you believe that number is much higher
00:37:25take us through this what does this look
00:37:27like will authorities be going door to
00:37:28door in this country yeah
00:37:30it is much higher because of them they
00:37:33allowed criminals
00:37:34many many millions of criminals they
00:37:36allowed terrorists they allowed
00:37:38common street criminals they allowed
00:37:40people to come in drug dealers to come
00:37:42into our country and they're now in the
00:37:44united states
00:37:45and told by their countries like
00:37:48venezuela
00:37:49don't ever come back or we're going to
00:37:51kill you do you know the crime in
00:37:53venezuela and crime in countries all
00:37:55over the world
00:37:56is way down you know why because they've
00:37:59taken their criminals off the street and
00:38:01they've given them to her
00:38:02to put into our country and this will be
00:38:05one of the greatest mistakes in history
00:38:08for them to allow
00:38:09and i think they probably did it because
00:38:11they think they're going to get votes
00:38:12but it's not worth it because they're
00:38:14they're destroying the fabric
00:38:16of our country by what they've done
00:38:18there's never been anything done like
00:38:20this at all they've destroyed the fabric
00:38:23of our country
00:38:24millions of people let in and all over
00:38:26the world
00:38:27crime is down all over the world except
00:38:29here crime here is up and through the
00:38:32roof
00:38:32despite their fraudulent statements that
00:38:34they made crime in this country is
00:38:36through the roof and we have a new form
00:38:38of crime it's called migrant crime
00:38:40and it's happening at levels that nobody
00:38:42thought possible president trump as you
00:38:44know the fbi says overall violent crime
00:38:46is actually coming down in this country
00:38:47but excuse me the fbi defraud they were
00:38:49defrauding statements
00:38:51they they didn't include the worst cities
00:38:53they didn't include the cities with the
00:38:55worst crime
00:38:56it was a a fraud just like their number
00:38:59of 818,000
00:39:00jobs that they said they created turned
00:39:02out to be a fraud president trump thank
00:39:04you i'll let you respond vice president
00:39:05well i think this is so rich
00:39:07coming from someone who has been
00:39:09prosecuted
00:39:11for national security crimes
00:39:14economic crimes election interference
00:39:18has been found liable for sexual assault
00:39:21and his next big court appearance is in
00:39:24november at his own criminal
00:39:26sentencing and let's be clear
00:39:29where each person stands on the issue of
00:39:32what is important about respect for the
00:39:34rule of law
00:39:36and respect for law enforcement the
00:39:38former vice president called
00:39:39for defunding federal law enforcement
00:39:4345,000 agents get this on the day after
00:39:46he was arraigned on 34
00:39:48felony counts so let's talk about what
00:39:51is important
00:39:52in this race it is important that we
00:39:54move forward
00:39:56that we turn the page on this
00:39:58same old tired rhetoric and address
00:40:02the needs of the american people address
00:40:05what we need to do
00:40:06about the housing shortage which i have
00:40:08a plan for
00:40:09address what we must do to support our
00:40:11small businesses
00:40:12address bringing down the price of
00:40:14groceries but
00:40:16frankly the american people are
00:40:18exhausted with this same old tired
00:40:20playbook
00:40:21vice president harris thank you excuse
00:40:23me every one of those cases
00:40:25was started by them against their
00:40:27political opponent and i'm winning most
00:40:29of them and i will win the rest on
00:40:31appeal
00:40:31and you saw that with the decision that
00:40:33came down just recently from the supreme
00:40:35court
00:40:36i'm winning most of them but those are
00:40:38cases it's called weaponization
00:40:40never happened in this country they
00:40:42weaponized the justice department every
00:40:44one of those cases
00:40:45was involved with the doj from atlanta
00:40:48and fawney willis
00:40:49to to the attorney general of new york
00:40:53and the da in new york
00:40:54every one of those cases and then they
00:40:57say oh
00:40:58he was he's a criminal they're the ones
00:41:00that made them
00:41:02go after me by the way joe biden was
00:41:04found essentially guilty on the
00:41:06documents case
00:41:07and what happened in my documents case
00:41:09they said oh that's the toughest of them
00:41:11all
00:41:11a complete and total victory two months
00:41:14ago it was thrown out
00:41:16it's weaponization and they used it and
00:41:18it's never happened in this country
00:41:20they used it to try and win an election
00:41:23they're fake cases president trump thank
00:41:25you a really quick response here vice
00:41:26president harris on this notion of
00:41:27weaponization of the justice department
00:41:29well let's talk about extreme and
00:41:31understand the context in which this
00:41:33election in 2024 is taking place the
00:41:36united states supreme court
00:41:38recently ruled that the former
00:41:40president would essentially be immune
00:41:42from any misconduct if he were to enter
00:41:45the white house again
00:41:46understand this is someone who has
00:41:48openly said he would terminate i'm
00:41:51quoting terminate
00:41:52the constitution of the united states
00:41:54that he would weaponize the department
00:41:57of justice against his political
00:41:59enemies someone who has openly
00:42:02expressed disdain for members of our
00:42:06military
00:42:06understand what it would mean if donald
00:42:09trump were back in the white house
00:42:10with no guardrails because certainly we
00:42:13know now the court won't stop him we
00:42:15know jd vance is not going to stop him
00:42:18it's up to the american people vice
00:42:20president thank you lindsey vice
00:42:22president harris in your last run for
00:42:24president
00:42:25this is the one that weaponized not me
00:42:28she weaponized i probably took a bullet
00:42:30to the head
00:42:32because of the things that they say
00:42:34about me they talk about
00:42:36democracy i'm a threat to democracy
00:42:38they're the threat to democracy with a
00:42:40fake russia russia russia investigation
00:42:43we do a lot that went nowhere we have a
00:42:44lot to get to lindsey vice president
00:42:46harris in your last run for president
00:42:48you said you wanted to ban fracking
00:42:50now you don't you wanted mandatory
00:42:52government buyback programs for assault
00:42:53weapons now your campaign
00:42:55says you don't you supported
00:42:56decriminalizing border crossings
00:42:59now you're taking a harder line i know
00:43:00you say that your values have not
00:43:02changed so then why have so many of your
00:43:05policy positions changed
00:43:07so my values have not changed and i'm
00:43:09going to discuss every
00:43:10one of the at least every point that
00:43:12you've made but in particular let's talk
00:43:13about fracking because we're here in
00:43:14pennsylvania i made that very clear in
00:43:162020
00:43:17i will not ban fracking i have not banned
00:43:20fracking as vice president united states
00:43:22and in fact
00:43:22i was the tie-breaking vote on the
00:43:25inflation reduction act
00:43:26which opened new leases for fracking
00:43:30my position is that we have got to
00:43:33invest in diverse sources of energy so
00:43:36we reduce our reliance on foreign oil
00:43:39we have had the largest increase
00:43:43in domestic oil production in history
00:43:46because of an approach that recognizes
00:43:48that we cannot over rely on foreign oil
00:43:52as it relates to my values let me tell
00:43:53you i grew up a middle class kid
00:43:56raised by a hard-working mother who
00:43:59worked and saved and was able to buy our
00:44:01first home when i was a teenager
00:44:04the values i bring to the importance of
00:44:06home ownership knowing not everybody got
00:44:08handed
00:44:09400 million dollars on a silver platter
00:44:11and then filed bankruptcy six times
00:44:14is a value that i bring to my work to
00:44:16say we are going to
00:44:17work with the private sector and home
00:44:19builders to increase
00:44:21three million homes increased by three
00:44:23million homes by the end of my first
00:44:24term
00:44:25my work that is related to having
00:44:28a friend when i was in high school who
00:44:30was sexually assaulted by her
00:44:31stepfather
00:44:32and my focus then on protecting women
00:44:34and children from violent crime
00:44:36is based on a value that is deeply
00:44:38grounded in the importance
00:44:40of standing up for those who are most
00:44:42vulnerable my work
00:44:44that is about protecting social
00:44:45security and medicare is based on
00:44:48long-standing work that i have done
00:44:50protecting seniors from scams my
00:44:53values have not changed and what is
00:44:56important is that there is a president
00:44:58who actually brings
00:44:59values and a perspective that is about
00:45:02lifting people
00:45:03up and not beating people down
00:45:07and name calling the true measure of the
00:45:10leader
00:45:11is the leader who actually understands
00:45:14the strength is not in beating people
00:45:16down it's in lifting people up
00:45:18i intend to be that president president
00:45:21trump your first of all i wasn't given
00:45:22400
00:45:23million dollars i wish i was my father
00:45:25was a brooklyn builder brooklyn queens
00:45:27and a great father and i learned a lot
00:45:29from him but i was given a fraction of
00:45:30that a tiny fraction
00:45:31and i built it into many many billions
00:45:34of dollars many many billions
00:45:36and when people see it they are even
00:45:38surprised so we don't have to talk about
00:45:40that
00:45:40fracking she's been against it for 12
00:45:42years
00:45:44defund the police she's been against
00:45:46that forever
00:45:47she gave all that stuff up very wrongly
00:45:51very horribly and everybody's laughing
00:45:53at it okay they're all laughing at it
00:45:55she gave up at least 12 and probably
00:45:5814 or 15 different policies like
00:46:00she was big on defund the police in
00:46:03minnesota she went out wait a minute i'm
00:46:05talking now
00:46:06if you don't mind please does that sound
00:46:09familiar
00:46:12she went out she went out
00:46:15in minnesota and wanted to let criminals
00:46:18that killed people
00:46:19that burned down minneapolis she went
00:46:22out and raised money to get them out of
00:46:23jail
00:46:24she did things that nobody would ever
00:46:26think of now she wants to do
00:46:28transgender operations on illegal aliens
00:46:31that are in prison
00:46:32this is a radical left liberal that
00:46:35would do this
00:46:36she wants to confiscate your guns and
00:46:38she will never allow fracking in
00:46:40pennsylvania
00:46:41if she won the election fracking in
00:46:43pennsylvania will end on day one
00:46:45just to finish one thing so important in
00:46:48my opinion
00:46:49so i got the oil business going like
00:46:51nobody has ever done before
00:46:53they took when they took over they got
00:46:56rid of it started getting rid of it
00:46:57and the prices were going up the roof
00:47:01they immediately let these guys go to
00:47:04where they were
00:47:05i would have been five times four times
00:47:08five times higher because you're talking
00:47:10about three and a half years ago
00:47:11they got it up to where i was because
00:47:14they had no choice because the prices of
00:47:16energy would
00:47:17were quadrupling and doubling you saw
00:47:19what happened to gasoline
00:47:20so they said let's go back to trump but
00:47:22if she won the election the day after
00:47:24that election
00:47:26they'll go back to destroying our
00:47:27country and oil will be dead fossil fuel
00:47:29will be dead we'll go back to windmills
00:47:31and we'll go back to
00:47:32solar where they need a whole desert to
00:47:34get some energy to come out
00:47:36you ever see a solar plant by the way
00:47:38i'm a big fan of solar
00:47:39but they take 400 500 acres of desert
00:47:44soil
00:47:45these are not good things for the
00:47:47environment
00:47:48thank you lindsey thank you we have an
00:47:50election in just 56 days
00:47:52and i want to talk about the peaceful
00:47:54transfer of power which of course we all
00:47:56know is a cornerstone of our democracy
00:47:57and the role of a president
00:47:59in a moment of crisis mr president on
00:48:01january 6th you told your supporters to
00:48:03march to the capitol you said you would
00:48:05be right there with them
00:48:06the country and the world saw what
00:48:07played out of the capitol that day the
00:48:09officers
00:48:10coming under attack aids in the west
00:48:12wing say you watched it unfold on
00:48:13television off the oval office
00:48:15you did send out tweets but it was more
00:48:17than two hours before you sent out that
00:48:19video message
00:48:20telling your supporters to go home
00:48:22is there anything you regret about what
00:48:24you did on that day
00:48:26you just said a thing that isn't covered
00:48:29peacefully and patriotically i said
00:48:31during my speech not
00:48:33later on peacefully and patriotically
00:48:37and nobody on the other side was killed
00:48:39ashley babbitt was shot by an out of
00:48:42control police officer
00:48:43that should have never ever shot her
00:48:46it's a disgrace but we didn't do this
00:48:49group of people that have been treated
00:48:51so badly
00:48:52i ask what about all the people that are
00:48:55pouring into our country and killing
00:48:56people
00:48:57that she allowed to pour in she was the
00:48:58borders are remember that she
00:49:00was the borders are she doesn't want to
00:49:02be called the borders are because she's
00:49:03embarrassed by the border fact she said
00:49:05at the beginning
00:49:06oh i'm surprised you're not talking
00:49:07about the border yet that's because she
00:49:09knows what a bad job they've done
00:49:11what about those people what's what are
00:49:13they going to be prosecuted
00:49:15when are these people from countries all
00:49:17over the world not just south america
00:49:19they're coming in from all over the
00:49:22world david
00:49:23all over the world and crime rates are
00:49:25down all over the world because of it
00:49:27but let me just one of those
00:49:28david one of those people going to be
00:49:30prosecuted one of the people that burned
00:49:32down minneapolis going to be prosecuted
00:49:34or in seattle they went into seattle
00:49:36they took over a big percentage of the
00:49:38city of seattle
00:49:39one of those people going to be
00:49:40prosecuted but let me just ask you might
00:49:42ask her that question you were the
00:49:44president you were watching it unfold on
00:49:45television it's a very simple question
00:49:47as we move forward toward another
00:49:48election
00:49:49is there anything you regret about what
00:49:51you did on that day
00:49:53yes i had nothing to do with that other
00:49:55than they asked me to make a speech i
00:49:57showed up for a speech i said i think
00:49:59it's going to be big
00:50:00i went to nancy pelosi and the mayor of
00:50:02washington dc
00:50:04and the mayor put it back in writing as
00:50:06you know i said you know
00:50:08this is going to be a very big rally or
00:50:10whatever you want to call it
00:50:12and again it wasn't done by me it was
00:50:13done by others i said i'd like to give
00:50:16you 10 000 national guard or soldiers
00:50:19they rejected me nancy pelosi rejected
00:50:22me it was just
00:50:23two weeks ago her daughter has a tape of
00:50:25her saying she is fully responsible for
00:50:27what happened
00:50:28they want to get rid of that tape it
00:50:30would have never happened if nancy
00:50:32pelosi and the mayor of washington did
00:50:34their jobs
00:50:35i wasn't responsible for security nancy
00:50:38pelosi
00:50:38was responsible she didn't do her job
00:50:40the question was about you as president
00:50:42not about former speaker pelosi but i do
00:50:44want vice president harris to respond
00:50:45here
00:50:47i was at the capitol on january 6th i
00:50:50was
00:50:51the vice president elect i was also an
00:50:53acting senator
00:50:54i was there and on that day
00:50:57the president of the united states
00:50:59incited a violent mob
00:51:02to attack our nation's capital
00:51:06to desecrate our nation's capital on
00:51:09that day 140 law enforcement officers
00:51:12were injured
00:51:13and some died and understand
00:51:16the former president has been indicted
00:51:19and impeached
00:51:20for exactly that reason but this is not
00:51:23an isolated situation
00:51:26let's remember charlottesville where
00:51:29there was a mob of people carrying tiki
00:51:32torches
00:51:33spewing anti-semitic hate
00:51:36and what did the president then at the
00:51:39time say
00:51:40there were fine people on each side
00:51:43let's remember that when it came to the
00:51:46proud boys a militia
00:51:49the president said the former president
00:51:51said stand back and stand by
00:51:53so for everyone watching who remembers
00:51:56what january 6th was
00:51:59i say we don't have to go back
00:52:02let's not go back we're not going back
00:52:04it's time to turn the page
00:52:07and if that was a bridge too far for you
00:52:09well there is a place
00:52:11in our campaign for you to stand
00:52:15for country to stand for our democracy
00:52:19to stand for rule of law
00:52:21and to end the chaos and to end
00:52:25the approach that is about attacking the
00:52:28foundations of our democracy
00:52:30because you don't like the outcome and
00:52:32be clear on that point
00:52:35donald trump the candidate has said in
00:52:37this election there will be a
00:52:38bloodbath if this and the outcome of
00:52:41this election is not to his liking
00:52:45let's turn the page on this let's not go
00:52:47back
00:52:48let's chart a course for the future
00:52:51and not go backwards to the past let me
00:52:54just follow up here
00:52:56it was a different term and it was a
00:52:58term that related to energy because they
00:53:00have destroyed our energy business that
00:53:02was where bloodbath was
00:53:03also on charlottesville that story has
00:53:06been as you would say debunked
00:53:08laura ingram sean hannity jesse all of
00:53:12these people
00:53:13they covered it if they go an extra
00:53:15sentence they will see it was perfect
00:53:17it was debunked in almost every
00:53:19newspaper but they still bring it up
00:53:21just like they bring 2025 up
00:53:23they bring all of the stuff up i ask you
00:53:25this you talk about
00:53:26the capital why are we allowing
00:53:29these millions of people to come through
00:53:31on the southern border how come she's
00:53:33not doing anything
00:53:34and i'll tell you what i would do and i
00:53:35would be very proud to do it
00:53:37i would say we would both leave this
00:53:39debate right now
00:53:41i'd like to see her go down to
00:53:43washington dc during this debate because
00:53:45we're wasting a lot of time
00:53:47go down to because she's been so bad
00:53:49it's so ridiculous
00:53:50go down to washington dc and let her
00:53:53sign a bill to close up the border
00:53:55because they have the right to do it
00:53:56they don't need bills
00:53:58they have the right to do the president
00:53:59of the united states you'll get them out
00:54:01of bed you'll wake them up at four o'clock
00:54:03in the afternoon you'll say come on
00:54:04come on down to the office let's sign a
00:54:06bill
00:54:06if he if he signs a bill that the border
00:54:09is closed all he has to do is say it to
00:54:11the border
00:54:12patrol who are phenomenal if they do
00:54:14that the border is closed
00:54:16mr those people are killing many people
00:54:18unlike j6 we talked immigration here
00:54:20tonight i do want to
00:54:21focus on this next issue to both of you
00:54:23because it really brings us this into
00:54:25focus truth
00:54:26in these times that we're living in mr
00:54:28president for three and a half years
00:54:29after you lost the 2020 election you
00:54:32repeatedly
00:54:33falsely claimed that you won many times
00:54:35saying you won in a landslide
00:54:37in the past couple of weeks leading up
00:54:38to this debate you have said quote you
00:54:40lost by a whisker
00:54:42that you quote didn't quite make it that
00:54:43you came up a little bit short
00:54:45i said that are you now acknowledging
00:54:47that you lost in 2020
00:54:49acknowledge that at all i said that
00:54:50sarcastically you know that
00:54:52hey we said oh we lost by a whisker that
00:54:54was said sarcastically
00:54:56look there's so much proof all you have
00:54:58to do is look at it and they should have
00:55:00sent it back to the legislatures for
00:55:02approval
00:55:02i got almost 75 million votes the most
00:55:05votes any sitting president has ever
00:55:07gotten i was told if i got 63 which was
00:55:09what i got in 2016
00:55:11you can't be beaten the election people
00:55:14should never be thinking about an
00:55:15election is fraudulent we need two
00:55:17things we need walls
00:55:19we need and we have to have it we have
00:55:21to have borders
00:55:22and we have to have good elections our
00:55:24elections are bad
00:55:25and a lot of these illegal immigrants
00:55:27coming in they're trying to get them to
00:55:29vote they can't even speak english they
00:55:31don't even know what country they're in
00:55:32practically
00:55:33and these people are trying to get them
00:55:35to vote and that's why they're allowing
00:55:37them to come into our country i did watch
00:55:39all of these pieces of video
00:55:41i didn't detect the sarcasm lost by
00:55:43whisker we didn't quite make it
00:55:44and we should just point out here as
00:55:46clarification and you know this you and
00:55:47your allies 60 cases
00:55:49in front of many judges many of them
00:55:50no judge looked at it and said they said
00:55:52we didn't have standing
00:55:54that's the other thing they said we
00:55:56didn't have standing a technicality
00:55:58can you imagine a system where a person
00:56:00in an election doesn't have standing the
00:56:02president of the united states
00:56:04doesn't have standing that's how we lost
00:56:07if you look at the facts and i'd love to
00:56:09have you do a special on it
00:56:11i'll show you georgia and i'll show you
00:56:13wisconsin and i'll show you pennsylvania
00:56:16and i'll show you
00:56:17we have so many facts and statistics but
00:56:19you know what that doesn't matter
00:56:21because we have to solve the problem
00:56:23that we have right now that's old news
00:56:25and the problem that we have right now
00:56:27is we have a nation in decline
00:56:30and they have put it into decline we
00:56:32have a nation
00:56:33that is dying david mr president thank
00:56:36you uh vice president harris
00:56:37you heard the president there tonight he
00:56:39said he didn't say that that he lost by
00:56:40whisker so he still
00:56:41believes he did not lose the election
00:56:44that was won by president biden and
00:56:47yourself
00:56:48but i do want to ask you about something
00:56:49that's come up in the last couple of
00:56:50days this was a post from
00:56:52president trump about this upcoming
00:56:54election just weeks away he said when i
00:56:56win
00:56:56those people who cheated and then he
00:56:58lists donors voters election officials
00:57:00he says will be prosecuted to the fullest
00:57:02extent of the law
00:57:03which will include long-term prison
00:57:05sentences one of your campaign's top
00:57:07lawyers responded saying we won't let
00:57:09donald trump intimidate us
00:57:10we won't let him suppress the vote is
00:57:13that what you believe he's trying to do
00:57:14here
00:57:16donald trump was fired by 81 million
00:57:19people
00:57:20so let's be clear about that and clearly
00:57:22he is having a very difficult time
00:57:24processing that
00:57:25but we cannot afford to have a president
00:57:28of the united states
00:57:30who attempts as he did in the past
00:57:34to upend the will of the voters in a
00:57:36free and fair election
00:57:38and i'm going to tell you that i have
00:57:41traveled the world as vice president
00:57:43united states
00:57:44and world leaders are laughing at donald
00:57:47trump
00:57:48i have talked with military leaders some
00:57:50of whom work with you
00:57:52and they say you're a disgrace and when
00:57:55you then talk
00:57:56in this way in a presidential debate and
00:57:59deny
00:58:00what over and over again are court cases
00:58:03you have lost
00:58:05because you did in fact lose that
00:58:07election
00:58:08it leads one to believe that perhaps
00:58:11we do not have in the candidate to my
00:58:13right the temperament
00:58:15or or the ability to not be confused
00:58:19about fact that's deeply troubling and
00:58:22the american people deserve
00:58:24better i'll give you one minute to
00:58:26respond mr president let me just say
00:58:27about world leaders
00:58:29victor orban one of the most respected
00:58:31men they call him a strong man he's a
00:58:33he's a tough person
00:58:34smart prime minister of hungary they
00:58:37said why is the whole world
00:58:39blowing up three years ago it wasn't why
00:58:41is it blowing up
00:58:42he said because you need trump back as
00:58:46president
00:58:47they were afraid of him china was afraid
00:58:49and i don't like to use the word afraid
00:58:50but i'm just quoting him
00:58:52china was afraid of him north korea was
00:58:55afraid of him
00:58:56look at what's going on with north korea
00:58:57by the way he said
00:58:58russia was afraid of him i ended the
00:59:01nord stream 2 pipeline
00:59:02and biden put it back on day one but he
00:59:05ended the xl pipeline
00:59:07the xl pipeline in our country he ended
00:59:10that
00:59:11but he let the russians build a pipeline
00:59:13going all over europe and heading into
00:59:14germany the biggest pipeline
00:59:16in the world look victor orban
00:59:20said it he said the most respected most
00:59:23feared person
00:59:24is donald trump we had no problems when
00:59:27trump was president
00:59:28but when this weak pathetic man that
00:59:31you saw at a debate just a few months
00:59:34ago
00:59:34that if he weren't in that debate he'd
00:59:36be running instead of her she got no
00:59:37votes
00:59:38he got 14 million votes what you did you
00:59:40talk about a threat to democracy
00:59:42he got 14 million votes and they threw
00:59:44him out of office
00:59:45and you know what i'll give you a little
00:59:47secret he hates her he can't stand her
00:59:50but he got 14 million votes they threw
00:59:52him out
00:59:53she got zero votes and when she ran
00:59:56she was the first one to leave because
00:59:58she failed
00:59:59and now she's running i don't understand
01:00:01it but i'm okay with it because
01:00:03your time is up i think we're going to
01:00:04do very well we've got a lot more to get
01:00:05to turning now to the israel hamas war
01:00:08and the hostages who are still being
01:00:09held americans among them
01:00:11vice president harris in december you
01:00:13said quote israel has a right to defend
01:00:15itself but you added quote
01:00:17it matters how saying international
01:00:19humanitarian law must be respected
01:00:21israel must do more to protect innocent
01:00:23civilians
01:00:24you said that nine months ago now an
01:00:26estimated 40 000 palestinians are dead
01:00:29nearly 100 hostages remain just last
01:00:32week prime minister benjamin netanyahu
01:00:34said
01:00:35there's not a deal in the making
01:00:36president biden has not been able to
01:00:38break through the stalemate
01:00:40how would you do it well let's
01:00:43understand how we got here
01:00:44on october 7 hamas
01:00:48a terrorist organization
01:00:51slaughtered 1200 israelis many of them
01:00:55young people who are
01:00:56simply attending a concert women were
01:00:59horribly
01:00:59raped and so absolutely i said then i
01:01:02say now
01:01:03israel has a right to defend itself we
01:01:06would
01:01:07and how it does so matters because it is
01:01:10also true
01:01:11far too many innocent palestinians have
01:01:14been killed
01:01:16children mothers what we know
01:01:19is that this war must end
01:01:22it must win and immediately and the way
01:01:25it will end is we need a cease-fire deal
01:01:28and we need the hostages
01:01:29out and so we will continue to work
01:01:32around the clock
01:01:33on that work around the clock also
01:01:35understanding that we must
01:01:37chart a course for a two-state solution
01:01:40and in that solution there must be
01:01:44security for the israeli people and
01:01:46israel and in equal measure for the
01:01:48palestinians
01:01:49but the one thing i will assure you
01:01:50always i will always give israel the
01:01:53ability to defend
01:01:54itself in particular as it rates to it
01:01:57as it relates to iran
01:01:58and any threat that iran and its proxies
01:02:01pose to israel but we must have a
01:02:04two-state solution
01:02:05where we can rebuild gaza where the
01:02:07palestinians
01:02:09have security self-determination and the
01:02:11dignity they so rightly deserve
01:02:14president trump how would you negotiate
01:02:16with netanyahu
01:02:18and also hamas in order to get the
01:02:20hostages out and prevent the killing of
01:02:22more innocent civilians in gaza
01:02:24if i were president it would have never
01:02:26started if i were president
01:02:28russia would have never ever i know
01:02:31putin very well
01:02:32he would have never and there was no
01:02:33threat of it either by the way for four
01:02:35years
01:02:36have gone into ukraine and killed
01:02:38millions of people when you add it up
01:02:40far worse than people understand what's
01:02:42going on over there
01:02:43but when she mentions about israel all
01:02:46of a sudden
01:02:47she hates israel she wouldn't even meet
01:02:50with netanyahu
01:02:51when he went to congress to make a very
01:02:53important speech she refused to be there
01:02:55because she was at a sorority party
01:02:57of hers she wanted to go to the sorority
01:02:59party
01:03:00she hates israel if she's president i
01:03:03believe that israel will not exist
01:03:05within two years from now and i've been
01:03:07pretty good at predictions and i hope
01:03:08i'm wrong about that one
01:03:10she hates israel at the same time in her
01:03:12own way
01:03:13she hates the arab population because
01:03:17the whole place is going to get blown up
01:03:20arabs jewish people israel
01:03:23israel will be gone it would have never
01:03:26happened
01:03:27iran was broke under donald trump now
01:03:30iran has 300 billion dollars because
01:03:33they took off all the sanctions that i
01:03:34had
01:03:35iran had no money for hamas or hezbollah
01:03:38or any of the 28 different
01:03:40uh spheres of terror and they are spheres
01:03:43of terror
01:03:44horrible terror they had no money it was
01:03:46a big story and you know it you covered
01:03:48it very well actually
01:03:50they had no money for terror they were
01:03:53broke
01:03:54now they're a rich nation and now what
01:03:56they're doing is they're spreading that
01:03:58money around
01:04:00look at what's happening with the hutis
01:04:02and yemen
01:04:03look at what's going on in the middle
01:04:05east this would have never happened
01:04:07i will get that settled and fast and
01:04:09i'll get the war
01:04:10with ukraine and russia ended if i'm
01:04:13president-elect
01:04:14i'll get it done before even becoming
01:04:17president
01:04:18vice president harris he says you hate
01:04:20israel
01:04:21that's absolutely not true i have my
01:04:24entire career and life
01:04:25supported israel and the israeli people
01:04:28he knows that
01:04:29he's trying to again divide and and
01:04:32distract
01:04:33from the reality which is it is very
01:04:35well known
01:04:37that donald trump is weak and wrong on
01:04:40national security and foreign policy it
01:04:42is well known
01:04:43that he admires dictators wants to be a
01:04:46dictator on day one according to himself
01:04:49it is well known that he said of putin
01:04:53that he can do whatever the hell he
01:04:56wants and go into ukraine
01:04:58it is well known that he said when
01:05:01russia went into ukraine it was
01:05:03brilliant
01:05:04it is well known he exchanged love
01:05:07letters with kim jong-un
01:05:10and it is absolutely well known that
01:05:13these dictators
01:05:14and autocrats are rooting for you to be
01:05:17president again because they're so clear
01:05:19they can manipulate you with flattery
01:05:23and favors and that is why
01:05:27so many military leaders who you have
01:05:29worked with have told me
01:05:31you are a disgrace that is why
01:05:34we understand that we have to have a
01:05:36president who is not consistently
01:05:39weak and wrong on national security
01:05:41including the importance
01:05:43of upholding and respecting in highest
01:05:45regard our military
01:05:47vice president harris thank you they're
01:05:48the ones and she's the one
01:05:50that caused it that's weak or national
01:05:53security by allowing
01:05:54every nation last month for the year
01:05:57168 different countries
01:05:59sending people into our country their
01:06:01crime weights are way down
01:06:04putin endorsed her last week said i hope
01:06:06she wins and i think he meant it
01:06:08because what he's gotten away with is
01:06:10absolutely incredible it wouldn't have
01:06:12happened with me
01:06:14the leaders of other countries think
01:06:16that they're weak and incompetent and
01:06:18they are
01:06:19they're grossly incompetent and i just
01:06:21ask one question
01:06:23why does biden go in and kill the
01:06:24keystone pipeline and approve the single
01:06:27biggest deal that russia's ever made
01:06:29north stream to the biggest pipeline
01:06:31anywhere in the world going to germany
01:06:33and all over europe
01:06:34because they're weak and they're
01:06:36ineffective and biden by the way gets
01:06:38paid a lot of money thank you we have a
01:06:40lot of issues to get to we'll be right

01:11:12you
01:11:36live from the national constitution
01:11:39center in philadelphia pennsylvania
01:11:41here again david muir and lindsey davis
01:11:45welcome back to this historic abc news
01:11:47presidential debate tonight we're going
01:11:48to continue here and i want to turn to
01:11:50the war in ukraine we're now two and a
01:11:51half years
01:11:52into this conflict mr president it has
01:11:54been the position of the biden
01:11:55administration
01:11:56that we must defend ukraine from russia
01:11:58from vladimir putin to defend their
01:12:00sovereignty their democracy
01:12:02that it's in america's best interest to
01:12:03do so arguing that if putin wins
01:12:05he may be emboldened to move even
01:12:07further into other countries
01:12:08you have said you would solve this war
01:12:10in 24 hours you said so just before the
01:12:12break tonight
01:12:13how exactly would you do that and i
01:12:15want to ask you a very simple question
01:12:17tonight
01:12:17do you want ukraine to win this war i
01:12:20want the war to stop
01:12:22i want to save lives that are being
01:12:24uselessly
01:12:25people being killed by the millions
01:12:27it's the millions
01:12:29it's so much worse than the numbers
01:12:31that you're getting which are fake
01:12:32numbers
01:12:33look we're in for 250 billion or more
01:12:37because they don't ask europe which is a
01:12:40much bigger beneficiary to getting this
01:12:42thing done
01:12:43than we are they're in for 150 billion
01:12:46dollars less because biden
01:12:48and you don't have the courage to ask
01:12:51europe
01:12:52like i did with nato they paid billions
01:12:55and billions hundreds of billions of
01:12:56dollars when i said
01:12:58either you pay up or we're not going to
01:13:00protect you anymore so that's maybe one
01:13:01of the reasons i don't
01:13:03like me as much as they like weak people
01:13:05but
01:13:06you take a look at what's happening
01:13:08we're in for 250 to 275 billion
01:13:12they're into 100 to 150 they should be
01:13:15forced to equalize with that being said
01:13:19i want to get the war settled i know
01:13:20zalinsky very well and i know putin very
01:13:22well i have a good relationship and they
01:13:25respect
01:13:26your president okay they respect me they
01:13:28don't respect biden how would you
01:13:30respect him
01:13:31why for what reason he hasn't even made
01:13:33a phone call in two years to put hasn't
01:13:35spoken to anybody
01:13:36they don't even try and get it that is
01:13:38a war that's dying to be settled
01:13:40i will get it settled before i even
01:13:42become president if i win
01:13:44when i'm president-elect and what i'll
01:13:46do is i'll speak to one i'll speak to
01:13:49the other
01:13:49i'll get them together that war would
01:13:51have never happened
01:13:53and in fact when i saw putin after i
01:13:55left
01:13:56unfortunately left because our our
01:13:58country has gone to hell
01:14:00but after i left when i saw him building
01:14:02up soldiers he did it after i left
01:14:04i said oh he must be negotiating it must
01:14:07be a good strong point of negotiation
01:14:09well it wasn't because biden had no idea
01:14:12how to talk to him
01:14:13he had no idea how to stop it and now
01:14:16you have millions of people dead
01:14:18and it's only getting worse and it could
01:14:19lead to world war iii
01:14:21don't kid yourself david we're playing
01:14:23with world war iii
01:14:24and we have a president that we don't
01:14:26even know if he's where is our president
01:14:28we don't even know if he's a president
01:14:30and just to clarify he threw him out of
01:14:31a campaign like a dog we don't even know
01:14:34is he our president but we have a
01:14:36president mr president doesn't know he's
01:14:38alive
01:14:38your time is up with the just to
01:14:40clarify the question
01:14:42do you believe it's in the u.s best
01:14:43interest for ukraine to win this war yes
01:14:46or no i think it's the u.s best interest
01:14:47to get this war finished and
01:14:49just get it done all right negotiate a
01:14:51deal because we have to stop
01:14:53all of these human lives from being
01:14:56destroyed i want to take this device
01:14:57president harris i want to get your
01:14:58thoughts on
01:14:59support for ukraine in this moment but
01:15:02also
01:15:03as commander in chief if elected how
01:15:05would you deal with vladimir putin and
01:15:06would it be any different from what
01:15:08we're seeing from president biden
01:15:10well first of all it's important to
01:15:12remind the former president you're not
01:15:13running against joe biden you're running
01:15:15against me
01:15:17i believe the reason that donald trump
01:15:19says that this war would be over within
01:15:2224 hours is because he would just give
01:15:23it up
01:15:24and that's not who we are as americans
01:15:26let's understand what happened here
01:15:28um i actually met with zelensky
01:15:31a few days before russia invaded
01:15:34tried through force to change
01:15:37territorial boundaries
01:15:38to defy one of the most important
01:15:41international rules and norms
01:15:42which is the importance of sovereignty
01:15:44and territorial integrity
01:15:46and i met with president zelensky i
01:15:48shared with him american intelligence
01:15:50about how he could defend himself days
01:15:52later i went to nato's eastern flank
01:15:55to poland and romania and through
01:15:58the work that i and others did we brought
01:16:0050 countries together
01:16:02to support ukraine in its righteous
01:16:04defense
01:16:05and because of our support because of
01:16:08the
01:16:09air defense the ammunition the artillery
01:16:12the javelins the abrams tanks that we
01:16:15have provided
01:16:16ukraine stands as an independent and
01:16:18free country if donald trump were
01:16:20president
01:16:20putin would be sitting in kiev right now
01:16:23and understand what that would mean
01:16:25because putin's agenda
01:16:27is not just about ukraine understand
01:16:30why the european allies and our nato
01:16:33allies
01:16:33are so thankful that you are no longer
01:16:36president
01:16:37and that we understand the importance of
01:16:40the greatest military alliance the world
01:16:42has ever known which is nato
01:16:44and what we have done to preserve
01:16:47the ability of zelensky and the
01:16:49ukrainians to fight for their
01:16:50independence
01:16:51otherwise putin would be sitting in kiev
01:16:54with his eyes on the rest of europe
01:16:57starting with poland and why don't you
01:16:58tell the 800 000 polish americans
01:17:01right here in pennsylvania how quickly
01:17:03you would give up
01:17:05for the sake of favor and what you think
01:17:08is a friendship
01:17:09with what is known to be a dictator who
01:17:12would eat you for lunch
01:17:14vice president harris thank you we've
01:17:16heard from both of you on ukraine
01:17:17tonight afghanistan came up in the last
01:17:19hour
01:17:20i wanted her to respond to something you
01:17:21said earlier and i'll
01:17:23please i'll give you a minute here putin
01:17:26would be sitting in moscow
01:17:28and he wouldn't have lost 300 000 men
01:17:30and women but he would have been sitting
01:17:32in moscow
01:17:33quiet please he would have been sitting
01:17:36in moscow
01:17:38much happier than he is right now but
01:17:40eventually you know he's got a thing
01:17:42that
01:17:42other people don't have he's got nuclear
01:17:44weapons they don't ever talk about that
01:17:45he's got nuclear weapons
01:17:47nobody ever thinks about that and
01:17:49eventually
01:17:50maybe he'll use him and maybe hasn't
01:17:52been that threatening
01:17:54but he does have that something we don't
01:17:56even like to talk about
01:17:57nobody likes to talk about it but just
01:17:59so you understand
01:18:00they sent her to negotiate peace before
01:18:03this war started
01:18:04three days later he went in and he
01:18:07started the war
01:18:08because everything they said was weak
01:18:10and stupid they said the wrong things
01:18:13that war should have never started
01:18:15she was the emissary they sent her in to
01:18:17negotiate with
01:18:19zalinsky and putin and she did
01:18:22and the war started three days later
01:18:24and that's the kind of talent we have
01:18:26with her
01:18:26she's worse than biden in my opinion i
01:18:28think he's the worst president in the
01:18:30history of our country
01:18:31she goes down as the worst vice
01:18:33president in the history of our country
01:18:35but let me tell you something
01:18:36she is a horrible negotiator they sent
01:18:40her in to negotiate
01:18:41as soon as they left putin did the
01:18:43invasion president trump thank you did
01:18:45bring up something you said she went to
01:18:46negotiate with vladimir putin vice
01:18:48president harris have you ever met
01:18:49vladimir putin can you clarify tonight
01:18:51yet again i said at the beginning of
01:18:53this debate you're going to hear a bunch
01:18:54of lies coming from this fellow
01:18:56and that is another one when i went to
01:18:58meet with president zalinsky i've now
01:19:00met with him over five times
01:19:02the reality is it has been about
01:19:05standing as america always should
01:19:08as a leader upholding international
01:19:11rules and norms as a leader who shows
01:19:14strength
01:19:15understanding that the alliances we have
01:19:17around the world
01:19:19are dependent on our ability to look out
01:19:22for our friends
01:19:23and not favor our enemies because
01:19:26you adore strongmen instead of caring
01:19:29about
01:19:30democracy and that is very much what is
01:19:33at stake here
01:19:34the president of the united states is
01:19:36commander in chief
01:19:38and the american people have a right to
01:19:41rely
01:19:42on a president who understands the
01:19:45significance of america's role and
01:19:47responsibility
01:19:49in terms of ensuring that there is
01:19:51stability and ensuring we stand
01:19:53up for our principles and not sell them
01:19:56for the for the benefit of personal
01:19:59flattery
01:20:00we've talked about ukraine and
01:20:01vladimir putin i do want to talk about
01:20:03afghanistan it came up in in the first
01:20:05hour of this debate
01:20:06i i wanted to move on to afghanistan
01:20:08said trump did the most amazing thing
01:20:10i've ever seen
01:20:11he got these countries the 28 countries
01:20:14at the time
01:20:15to pay up he said i've never seen he's
01:20:17the head of nato
01:20:18he said i've never seen for years we
01:20:20were paying almost all of nato
01:20:23we were being ripped off by european
01:20:25nations both on trade and on nato
01:20:27i got them to pay up by saying one of
01:20:30the statements you made before
01:20:31if you don't pay we're not going to
01:20:33protect you otherwise we would have
01:20:35never gotten it
01:20:35he said it was one of the most
01:20:37incredible jobs that he's ever seen done
01:20:39thank you i want to turn to afghanistan
01:20:41it came up in the first hour of the
01:20:42debate
01:20:43and we witnessed a poignant moment today
01:20:45on capitol hill honoring the soldiers
01:20:46who died
01:20:47in the chaotic withdrawal from
01:20:48afghanistan i do want to ask the vice
01:20:50president
01:20:51do you believe you bear any
01:20:52responsibility in the way that withdrawal
01:20:55played out
01:20:56well i will tell you i agreed with
01:20:58president biden's decision
01:20:59to pull out of afghanistan four
01:21:02presidents
01:21:03said they would and joe biden did and as
01:21:06a result
01:21:07america's taxpayers are not paying the
01:21:09300 million dollars a day we were paying
01:21:11for that
01:21:12endless war and as of today
01:21:15there is not one member of the united
01:21:17states military who is in
01:21:19active duty in a combat zone in any war
01:21:23zone around the world the first time
01:21:24this century
01:21:25but let's understand how we got to where
01:21:28we are
01:21:29donald trump when he was president
01:21:31negotiated
01:21:32one of the weakest deals you can imagine
01:21:35he calls himself a deal maker
01:21:37even his national security advisor said
01:21:39it was a weak terrible deal and here's
01:21:42how it went down
01:21:43he bypassed the afghan government he
01:21:46negotiated directly with a terrorist
01:21:49organization called the taliban
01:21:51the negotiation involved the taliban
01:21:53getting 5,000
01:21:54terrorists taliban terrorists released
01:21:57and get this no get this
01:21:59and the president at the time invited
01:22:03the taliban to cap
01:22:04david a place of storied significance
01:22:08for us as americans a place where we
01:22:11honor the importance of american
01:22:13diplomacy where we invite and receive
01:22:17respected world leaders and
01:22:20this former president
01:22:23as president invited them to
01:22:27camp david because he does not again
01:22:30appreciate
01:22:31the role and responsibility
01:22:34of the president of the united states to
01:22:37be commander in chief with a level of
01:22:39respect
01:22:40and this gets back to the point of how
01:22:42he has consistently disparaged and
01:22:44demeaned
01:22:45members of our military fallen soldiers
01:22:49and the work that we must do to uphold
01:22:51the strength
01:22:52and the respect of the united states of
01:22:55america around the world vice president
01:22:56harris thank you president trump your
01:22:58response to her saying that you began
01:22:59the negotiations with the taliban
01:23:01so if you take a look at that period of
01:23:04time
01:23:05the taliban was killing our soldiers
01:23:08a lot of them with snipers and i got
01:23:12involved
01:23:12with the taliban because the taliban was
01:23:15doing the killing that's the fighting
01:23:16force within afghanistan they don't
01:23:18bother doing that because you know they
01:23:19deal with the wrong people all the time
01:23:21but i got involved and abdul
01:23:25is the head of the taliban he is still
01:23:27the head of the taliban
01:23:28and i told abdul don't do it anymore you
01:23:30do it anymore you're gonna have
01:23:32problems and he said why do you send me
01:23:34a picture of my house i said you're
01:23:35gonna have to figure that out abdul
01:23:37and for 18 months we had nobody killed
01:23:41we did have an agreement negotiated by
01:23:42mike pompeo
01:23:44it was a very good agreement the reason
01:23:46it was good it was we were getting out
01:23:48we would have been out faster than them
01:23:50but we wouldn't have lost the soldiers
01:23:51we wouldn't have left many americans
01:23:53behind and we wouldn't have left
01:23:55we wouldn't have left 85 billion dollars
01:23:58worth of brand new beautiful military
01:24:00equipment behind
01:24:01and just to finish they blew it
01:24:05the agreement said you have to do this
01:24:07this this this this
01:24:08and they didn't do it they didn't do it
01:24:11the agreement was was terminated by us
01:24:14because they didn't do what they were
01:24:17supposed to do
01:24:18i want to move and these people did the
01:24:20worst withdrawal
01:24:22and in my opinion the most embarrassing
01:24:24moment in the history of our country
01:24:26and by the way that's why russia attacked
01:24:28ukraine
01:24:29because they saw how incompetent she and
01:24:32her boss are
01:24:33president trump thank you i want to move
01:24:35on now to race and politics in this
01:24:37country
01:24:37mr president you recently said of vice
01:24:39president harris quote
01:24:40i didn't know she was black until a
01:24:42number of years ago when she happened to
01:24:44turn black
01:24:45and now she wants to be known as black i
01:24:47want to ask a bigger picture question
01:24:49here tonight
01:24:50why do you believe it's appropriate to
01:24:51weigh in on the racial identity of your
01:24:53opponent
01:24:54i don't and i don't care i don't care
01:24:56what she is i don't care
01:24:59you make a big deal out of something i
01:25:01couldn't care less
01:25:02whatever she wants to be is okay with me
01:25:04but those were your words so i don't
01:25:06know i don't know i mean all i can say
01:25:08is i read where she was
01:25:09not black that she put out and
01:25:13i'll say that and then i read that she
01:25:16was black
01:25:16and that's okay either one was okay with
01:25:18me that's up to her
01:25:20that's up to her vice president harris
01:25:22your thoughts on this
01:25:24i think it's i mean honestly i think it's
01:25:27a tragedy
01:25:28that we have someone who wants to be
01:25:31president who has
01:25:33consistently over the course of his
01:25:35career
01:25:36attempted to use race to divide the
01:25:38american people
01:25:40you know i do believe that the vast
01:25:41majority of us know that we have so much
01:25:43more in common than what separates us
01:25:44and we don't want
01:25:46this kind of approach that is just
01:25:48constantly trying to divide us and
01:25:50especially by race and let's remember
01:25:53how donald trump started he was a
01:25:58land he owned land he owned buildings
01:26:01and he was investigated because
01:26:04he refused to rent property
01:26:07to black families let's remember this
01:26:10is the same individual
01:26:12who took out a full page ad in the new
01:26:14york times
01:26:16calling for the execution of five
01:26:19young black and latino boys
01:26:22who were innocent the central park five
01:26:27took out a full page ad calling for
01:26:29their execution
01:26:30this is the same individual who spread
01:26:33birth or lies about the first black
01:26:35president of the united states
01:26:38and i think the american people want
01:26:41better than that
01:26:43want better than this want someone who
01:26:46understands as i do i travel our country
01:26:50we see in each other a friend we see in
01:26:53each other a neighbor
01:26:55we don't want a leader who is constantly
01:26:58trying to have americans point their
01:27:01fingers at each other
01:27:02i meet with people all the time who
01:27:05tell me
01:27:07can we please just have discourse about
01:27:10how we're going to invest in the
01:27:12aspirations and the ambitions and the
01:27:14dreams of the american people
01:27:16knowing that regardless of people's
01:27:18color or the language their grandmother
01:27:20speaks we all
01:27:21have the same dreams and aspirations and
01:27:23want a president
01:27:25who invest in those not in hate and
01:27:27division
01:27:28vice president harris thank you lindsey
01:27:30president trump this is now your third
01:27:32time
01:27:34this is the most divisive presidency in
01:27:37the history of our country
01:27:39there's never been anything like it
01:27:40they're destroying our country
01:27:42and they come up with things like what
01:27:45she just said
01:27:47going back many many years when a lot of
01:27:49people including mayor bloomberg agreed
01:27:51with me on the
01:27:52central park five they admitted they
01:27:54said they pled guilty
01:27:56and i said well if they pled guilty they
01:27:58badly hurt a person killed a person
01:28:00ultimately
01:28:02and if they pled guilty then they pled
01:28:04we're not guilty but this is a person
01:28:07that has to stretch back years 40 50
01:28:10years ago
01:28:11because there's nothing now i built one
01:28:13of the greatest economies in the history
01:28:15of the world
01:28:16and i'm going to build it again it's
01:28:18going to be bigger better and stronger
01:28:20but they're destroying our economy they
01:28:22have no idea what a good economy is
01:28:24their oil policies every single policy
01:28:27and remember this
01:28:29she is biting you know she's trying to
01:28:31get away from biden i don't know the
01:28:33gentleman she says
01:28:34she is biting the worst inflation we've
01:28:37ever had
01:28:38a horrible economy because inflation has
01:28:41made it so bad
01:28:43that you can't get away with that thank
01:28:44you your time is up i want to respond to
01:28:46that though i want to just respond
01:28:47briefly clearly i am not joe biden
01:28:52and i am certainly not donald trump
01:28:55and what i do offer is a new generation
01:28:57of leadership for our country
01:28:59one who believes in what is possible
01:29:02one who brings a sense of
01:29:04optimism about what we can do
01:29:07instead of always disparaging the
01:29:09american people
01:29:11i believe in what we can do to
01:29:14strengthen our small businesses which is
01:29:17why i have a plan let's talk about
01:29:19our plans and and let's compare the
01:29:22plans
01:29:23i have a plan to give startup businesses
01:29:27fifty thousand dollar tax deduction
01:29:30to pursue their ambitions their
01:29:32innovation their ideas
01:29:34their hard work i have a plan six
01:29:37thousand dollars
01:29:38for young families for the first year of
01:29:40your child's life
01:29:42to help you in that most critical stage
01:29:44of your child's development i have a
01:29:46plan
01:29:47that is about allowing people to be able
01:29:49to pursue
01:29:51what has been fleeting in terms of the
01:29:52american dream by offering
01:29:55a help with down payment of twenty five
01:29:57thousand dollar down payment assistance
01:29:59for first-time home buyers that's the
01:30:02kind of conversation i believe david
01:30:04that people really want tonight as
01:30:06opposed to a conversation that is
01:30:08constantly about belittling
01:30:11and name calling let's turn the page
01:30:14vice president harris forward thank you
01:30:16let's turn to policy let's turn we have
01:30:17to move on president trump
01:30:19let's turn to policy please she has a
01:30:21plan
01:30:21to defund the police she has a flat plan
01:30:24to confiscate everybody's gun president
01:30:27she has a plan
01:30:28to not allow fracking in pennsylvania or
01:30:31anywhere else okay that's what her plan
01:30:33is until just recently i just need to go
01:30:35ahead president trump president trump
01:30:37president has said something twice that
01:30:38i need to respond i'm sorry we're gonna
01:30:40we're gonna move on vice president
01:30:42president trump this is now your third
01:30:44time running for president you have long
01:30:46vowed to repeal and replace the
01:30:48affordable care act
01:30:49also known as obamacare you have failed
01:30:51to accomplish that you now say you're
01:30:53going to keep obamacare quote unless we
01:30:55can do something much better
01:30:57last month you said quote we're working
01:30:59on it so tonight
01:31:01nine years after you first started
01:31:02running do you have a plan
01:31:04and can you tell us what it is obamacare
01:31:06was lousy health care always was
01:31:09it's not very good today and what i said
01:31:11that if we come up with something and we
01:31:13are working on things
01:31:15we're going to do it and we're going to
01:31:16replace it but remember this
01:31:18i inherited obamacare because democrats
01:31:21wouldn't
01:31:21change it they wouldn't vote for it they
01:31:23were unanimous they wouldn't vote to
01:31:25change it
01:31:26if they would have done that we would
01:31:27have had a much better plan than
01:31:29obamacare
01:31:30but the democrats came up they wouldn't
01:31:32vote for it
01:31:33i had a choice to make when i was
01:31:34president do i save it and make it as
01:31:37good as it can be
01:31:38never going to be great or do i let it
01:31:41rot
01:31:42and i felt i had an obligation even
01:31:44though politically it would have been
01:31:45good to just let it rot and let it go
01:31:47away
01:31:48i decided and i told my people the top
01:31:50people and they're very good people i
01:31:52have a lot of good people in this that
01:31:53administration
01:31:54we read about the bad ones we had some
01:31:56real bad ones too and so do they they
01:31:58have really bad ones the difference is
01:31:59they don't get rid of them but let me
01:32:00just
01:32:01explain i had a choice to make do i save
01:32:04it and make it as good as it can be
01:32:06or do i let it rot and i saved it i did
01:32:09the right thing
01:32:11but it's still never going to be great
01:32:13and it's too expensive for people
01:32:15and what we will do is we're looking at
01:32:18different plans
01:32:19if we can come up with a plan that's
01:32:21going to cost our people
01:32:22our population less money and be better
01:32:25health care than obamacare
01:32:27then i would absolutely do it but until
01:32:30then i'd run it as good as it can be run
01:32:32so just a yes or no you still do not
01:32:34have a plan
01:32:35i have concepts of a plan i'm not
01:32:37president right now
01:32:39but if we come up with something i would
01:32:42only change it if we come up with
01:32:44something that's better and less
01:32:45expensive
01:32:46and there are concepts and options we we
01:32:49have
01:32:50to do that and you'll be hearing about
01:32:52it in the not too distant future
01:32:53vice president harris in 2017 you
01:32:56supported bernie sanders proposal to do
01:32:58away with private insurance and create a
01:32:59government-run health care system
01:33:01two years later you proposed a plan that
01:33:03included a private insurance option
01:33:05what is your plan today well first of
01:33:07all i absolutely
01:33:09support and over the last four years as
01:33:11vice president private health care
01:33:13options but
01:33:13what we need to do is maintain and grow
01:33:15the affordable care but i i'll get to
01:33:17that lindsay i just need to respond to a
01:33:19previous point that the former president
01:33:21has made
01:33:22i've made very clear my position on
01:33:23fracking and then this business about
01:33:25taking everyone's guns away
01:33:27tim walz and i are both gun owners we're
01:33:29not taking anybody's guns away so stop
01:33:31with the continuous lying about this
01:33:32stuff
01:33:34as it relates to the affordable care act
01:33:35understand let's just look at the
01:33:37history to know where people stand
01:33:39when donald trump was president 60 times
01:33:42he tried to get rid of the affordable
01:33:44care act 60 times i was a senator
01:33:48at the time when i will never forget the
01:33:51early morning
01:33:52hours when it was up for a vote in the
01:33:54united states senate
01:33:56and the late great john mccain who you
01:33:59have disparaged
01:34:02as being a you don't like him you said
01:34:05at the time because he got caught he was
01:34:07an american hero
01:34:09the late great john mccain i will never
01:34:11forget that night
01:34:12walked onto the senate floor and said no
01:34:15you don't
01:34:16no you don't no you don't get rid of the
01:34:19affordable character you have no plan
01:34:21and what the affordable care act has
01:34:23done is eliminate the ability
01:34:25of insurance companies to deny people
01:34:27with pre-existing conditions
01:34:29i don't have to tell the people watching
01:34:30tonight you remember what that was like
01:34:33remember when an insurance company could
01:34:35deny
01:34:36if a child had asthma if someone was a
01:34:39breast cancer survivor if a
01:34:41if a grandparent had diabetes and
01:34:44thankfully
01:34:45as i've been vice president and we over
01:34:47the last four years have strengthened
01:34:48the affordable care act
01:34:50we have allowed for the first time
01:34:51medicare to negotiate drug prices
01:34:53on behalf of you the american people
01:34:56donald trump said he was going to allow
01:34:57medicare to negotiate
01:34:59drug prices he never did we did and now
01:35:01we have capped the cost of insulin at
01:35:03thirty five dollars a month
01:35:04since i've been vice president we have
01:35:06capped the cost of prescription
01:35:07medication for seniors at two thousand
01:35:09dollars a year
01:35:10and when i am president we will do that
01:35:12for all people understanding
01:35:14that the value i bring to this is that
01:35:18access to health care should be a right
01:35:21and not just a privilege of those who
01:35:22can afford it
01:35:24and the plan has to be to strengthen the
01:35:27affordable care act
01:35:28not get rid of it vice president
01:35:31in terms of where donald trump stands on
01:35:32that i want to move to an issue that's
01:35:34important for a lot of mistake
01:35:36at number one john mccain fought
01:35:39obamacare for 10 years but it wasn't
01:35:42only him
01:35:42it was all of the democrats that kept it
01:35:45going
01:35:46and you know what we can do much better
01:35:49than obamacare much less money
01:35:51but she won't improve private insurance
01:35:54for people private medical insurance
01:35:57that's another thing she doesn't want to
01:35:58get people are paying privately for
01:36:00insurance
01:36:01that have worked hard and made money and
01:36:03they want to have private she wants
01:36:05everybody to be on government insurance
01:36:07where you wait
01:36:08six months for an operation that you
01:36:10need immediately president trump thank
01:36:12you we have another issue that we'd
01:36:13like to get to that's important for a
01:36:14number of americans in particular
01:36:16younger voters and that's climate change
01:36:18president trump with regard to the
01:36:20environment you say that we have to have
01:36:22clean air and clean water
01:36:24vice president harris you call climate
01:36:26change an existential threat
01:36:28the question to you both tonight is what
01:36:30would you do to fight climate change and
01:36:32vice president harris will start with
01:36:34you one minute for you each
01:36:35well the former president had said the
01:36:37climate change is a hoax
01:36:40and what we know is that it is very real
01:36:42you ask anyone who lives in a state who
01:36:44has
01:36:45experienced these extreme weather
01:36:46occurrences who now is either being
01:36:48denied home insurance or it's being
01:36:50jacked up
01:36:51you ask anybody who has been the victim
01:36:55of what that means in terms of losing
01:36:57their home
01:36:58having nowhere to go we know that we can
01:37:01actually
01:37:01deal with this issue the young people of
01:37:03america care deeply about this issue
01:37:05and i am proud that as vice president
01:37:07over the last four years
01:37:09we have invested a trillion dollars in a
01:37:11clean energy economy
01:37:13while we have also increased domestic
01:37:15gas production
01:37:16to historic levels we have created over
01:37:19800,000 new manufacturing jobs while i
01:37:22have been vice president
01:37:23we have invested in clean energy to the
01:37:26point that we are opening
01:37:28up factories around the world donald
01:37:30trump said he was going to create
01:37:31manufacturing jobs
01:37:32he lost manufacturing jobs and i'm also
01:37:35proud to have the endorsement of the
01:37:37united auto workers and sean fane
01:37:39who also know that part of building a
01:37:42clean energy economy
01:37:43includes investing in american made
01:37:46products
01:37:47american automobiles it includes
01:37:50growing what we can do around american
01:37:53manufacturing and
01:37:54opening up auto plants not closing them
01:37:57like happened under donald trump
01:37:58president harris thank you it didn't
01:38:00happen under donald trump let me just
01:38:01tell you they lost 10,000 manufacturing
01:38:04jobs
01:38:04this last month it's going they're all
01:38:07leaving
01:38:08they're building big auto plants in
01:38:10mexico in many cases
01:38:12owned by china they're building these
01:38:15massive plants and they think they're
01:38:16going to sell their cars into the united
01:38:18states because of
01:38:20these people what they have given to
01:38:22china is unbelievable
01:38:24but we're not going to let that we'll
01:38:25put tariffs on those cars so they can't
01:38:27come into our country
01:38:28because they will kill the united auto
01:38:31workers and any auto worker whether it's
01:38:33in detroit or south carolina or any
01:38:35other place
01:38:36what they've done to business and
01:38:38manufacturing in this country

01:44:21welcome back tonight the time has come
01:44:23for closing statements and vice
01:44:24president harris
01:44:25we begin with you so i think you've
01:44:28heard tonight
01:44:29two very different visions for our
01:44:32country
01:44:33one that is focused on the future and
01:44:36the other that is focused on the past
01:44:38and an attempt to take us backward
01:44:42but we're not going back and i do
01:44:44believe
01:44:45that the american people know we all
01:44:47have so much more in common than what
01:44:49separates us
01:44:50and we can chart a new way forward
01:44:53and a vision of that includes having a
01:44:56plan
01:44:57understanding the aspirations the
01:44:59dreams the hopes
01:45:01the ambition of the american people
01:45:03which is why
01:45:04i intend to create an opportunity
01:45:07economy
01:45:08investing in small businesses in new
01:45:11families
01:45:12in what we can do around protecting
01:45:14seniors what we can do that is about
01:45:17giving
01:45:18hard-working folks a break and bringing
01:45:20down the cost of living
01:45:21i believe in what we can do together
01:45:25that is about sustaining america
01:45:27standing in the world and ensuring that
01:45:29we have the respect
01:45:31that we so rightly deserve including
01:45:33respecting our military and ensuring we
01:45:36have the most lethal fighting force
01:45:38in the world i will be a president that
01:45:41will protect our fundamental rights and
01:45:42freedoms including the right of a woman
01:45:44to make decisions
01:45:46about her own body and not have her
01:45:48government
01:45:48tell her what to do i'll tell you i
01:45:51started my career as a prosecutor i was
01:45:53a d.a
01:45:54i was an attorney general a united
01:45:56states senator and now vice president
01:45:57i've only had one client
01:45:59the people and i'll tell you as a
01:46:01prosecutor i never
01:46:03asked a victim or a witness are you a
01:46:06republican or a democrat
01:46:08the only thing i ever asked them are you
01:46:10okay
01:46:12and that's the kind of president we need
01:46:14right now
01:46:15someone who cares about you and is not
01:46:17putting themselves
01:46:18first i intend to be a president for all
01:46:21americans
01:46:23and focus on what we can do over the
01:46:25next 10 and
01:46:2620 years to build back up our country by
01:46:29investing right now
01:46:31in you the american people vice
01:46:33president harris thank you president
01:46:35trump
01:46:37so she just started by saying she's
01:46:39going to do this she's going to do that
01:46:40she's going to do all these wonderful
01:46:42things
01:46:42why hasn't she done it she's been there
01:46:45for three and a half years
01:46:47they've had three and a half years to
01:46:49fix the border
01:46:50they've had three and a half years to
01:46:53create jobs and all the things we talked
01:46:55about
01:46:56why hasn't she done it she should leave
01:46:59right now go down to that beautiful
01:47:01white house go to the capital
01:47:03get everyone together and do the things
01:47:05you want to do but you haven't done it
01:47:06and you won't do it because you believe
01:47:08in things that
01:47:09the american people don't believe in you
01:47:11believe in
01:47:12things like we're not going to frack
01:47:14we're not going to take fossil fuel
01:47:16we're not going to do
01:47:17things that are going to make this
01:47:18country strong whether you like it or
01:47:20not
01:47:21germany tried that and within one year
01:47:23they were back to building
01:47:25normal energy plants we're not ready for
01:47:28it
01:47:29we can't sacrifice our country for the
01:47:32sake of bad vision
01:47:33but i just ask one simple question why
01:47:36didn't she do it we're a failing nation
01:47:40we're a nation that's in serious decline
01:47:43we're being laughed at all over the
01:47:45world all over the world they're left i
01:47:46know the leaders very well they're
01:47:48coming to see me
01:47:49they call me we're laughed at all over
01:47:52the world they don't understand what
01:47:53happened to us as a nation
01:47:55we're not a leader we don't have any
01:47:57idea what's going on
01:47:59we have wars going on in the middle east
01:48:01we have wars going on
01:48:03with russia and ukraine we're going to
01:48:05end up in a third world war and it'll be
01:48:08a war like no other because of nuclear
01:48:10weapons the power of weaponry
01:48:12i rebuilt our entire military she gave
01:48:16a lot of it away
01:48:17to the taliban she gave it to
01:48:19afghanistan
01:48:21what these people have done to our
01:48:23country and maybe toughest of all is
01:48:25allowing millions of
01:48:27people to come into our country many of
01:48:29them are criminals and they're destroying
01:48:31our country
01:48:32the worst president the worst vice
