00:00the playoffs. If it ended today, the teams that would be in the playoffs, it would be
00:06the Orioles, the twins and the Royals in the AL. If we're looking in the NL, it would be
00:11the Padres, Braves, Diamondbacks and Mets. And you might say, well, how is there four
00:15teams? There's only three wildcard spots. Two teams are tied here. That's the New York
00:18Mets and the Atlanta Braves. Now, the question is going to be, if you do make the playoffs
00:24as a wildcard and you do get hot, is there a possibility that a wildcard team can take
00:31down a World Series championship? So, Dubsy, I'm going to start with you first in this
00:36buy or sell. Wildcard team will reach the world, not even win it, just reach the World
00:42Series this year for you. Buy in or sell in that?
00:45Buy, buy, buy. And it's all about the Kansas City Royals getting set to rumble at plus
00:511100. You know, at the pointy end of the season, October fast approaching, you need
00:55to know the schedule. And I think it lines up pretty favorable here for Kansas City.
01:00They'll take on the Pirates, not with a lot to play for in that next series. Then they
01:04welcome in Detroit and the Giants into their ballpark. Then they go on the road to take
01:08on the Nationals. So I think all things are shaping up for the Royals to make a bit of
01:12a run. It wasn't at October back in 2014, a little 10 year anniversary when they found
01:18that momentum. I think it may have been there, Donnie. And look, the arms are starting to
01:21find a bit of stride here as well. Cole Reagans has been strong. Seth Lugo put up a masterpiece
01:26there on Tuesday evening. They've got the firepower. Bobby Witt Jr., one of the most
01:30exciting, one of the most exciting weapons in all the majors right now. Tommy Pham in
01:35the mix. So I think Kansas City could certainly do enough to make it into October and could
01:40do enough to rattle a couple of the big contenders. And I dare say, make a little World Series
01:45tilt, Donnie. So it's the price play for me with Kansas City.
01:49Yeah, you see those price points out there, too. It's the Orioles, Twins and Royals, plus
01:53340 plus 850 and 11 to 1. There are big price point and disparities between those because
01:58there is still a chance that the Orioles can win the AL East, which would take them out
02:01of that wildcard and put them in better standing. So that's sort of a factor that goes into
02:05it. The one thing that we do look at and for me, I would buy it as well. And here's the
02:09reason. When typically wildcard teams make the playoffs, you say, well, they're not as
02:13good as the teams that led their divisions and certainly have number one overall seeds.
02:17And I would agree with that. But as we know, Dubsy, just like playing a golf game, when
02:21you are on your game and you are grinding on a week to week basis here, you're probably
02:25going to be better off than the guy that goes out, parachute in for three every three or
02:29four weeks to play a tournament. The reason we bring that up in Major League Baseball
02:32is if you're fighting for that final playoff spot, Dubsy, over the final couple of weeks,
02:35you're already in playoff mode. You are already locked and loaded, knowing every day you
02:40go to the ballpark, you got to win this game and you're playing on an everyday basis. You
02:44take a look at some of the teams that are seven, eight, nine, ten games lead in their
02:48division. What do they do, Dubsy, down the stretch, the final week of the season? Let's
02:52take some time off. Let's rehab our bodies. Let's set our pitching rotations. We're not
02:57going to play the first round of the playoffs for the two teams that have the buys. And
03:00then you just parachute back in and have to flip that switch when you're going to play
03:05a wildcard team that's already been in grind mode, that's already won a playoff series
03:09and is ready to do battle right out of the gate. And you can surprise them as the higher
03:13seeded team. So it's always fun to watch it work out. And quite frankly, in the past couple
03:17years with the wildcard that we have, you do see some of those upsets in those early
03:21rounds. And we expect that to happen this year. So, yeah, I'll buy a wildcard team can
03:25make it to the World Series this year.
