00:00In the project that we present here today at the headquarters of REA Dalmine, I would say
00:13that, to begin with, it is an excellent example of cooperation between companies, A2A and the
00:19Green Thesis group, the owner of the thermal power plant, and of good administration because
00:25there are several municipalities involved that have been able to coordinate to allow
00:30a crossing of our heating infrastructure in one of the most
00:35underdeveloped areas in Europe, so, how to say, it was not easy to bring the 6 km of conductors
00:41from the REA Dalmine to the city of Bergamo. It is a very important project because
00:46the fourth generation heating today, that is, what allows to use
00:51waste heat, is the future because it allows to bring decarbonized heat to the houses,
00:59which means that the houses, for example, which are connected to a decarbonized heating system,
01:05become automatically compatible with the Green House Directive, that is, the European Directive,
01:13which provides, within a period, let's say, between 2035 and 2040, the fact that even
01:21the houses reduce their impact of CO2. This can be done, of course, in a passive way,
01:26with hoods and curtains, or it can be done by decarbonizing the energy source, and that is what we are doing.
01:32It is a waste heat, we are in a world where you can no longer lose anything,
01:38it is an important heat, the network of Bergamo today is a network of 87 km and the extension
01:43expected is 22, this gives the idea of the amount of heat that can be brought.
01:50The efficiency of the Rea d'Almine plant, which already produced electricity,
01:54goes from 27% to 80%, so this gives the idea of how important it is to recover
02:01both electricity and heat in these plants. Obviously, the recovery of heat is particularly important
02:07in the cities of northern Italy, such as Dalmine or Bergamo, which need a lot of heat during the winter,
02:16and it is also the period of the year when we have less renewables, since the sun obviously pushes less in winter.
02:23So it is a nice project that we are very proud of, we recently brought to Cernobbio a study
02:30that also talked about the city of Bergamo, compared to the decarbonization issues,
02:35there are 100 European cities, including 9 Italian and among them Bergamo, which are front runners of decarbonization,
02:43and this project is one of the projects that is part of the contract with Europe of the city of Bergamo
02:50to be a real leader in decarbonization issues.
