South Korean soccer player Son Jun-ho tearfully denied on Wednesday (Sept 11) accusations by Chinese authorities that he participated in match-fixing and bribery when playing in the country and said he gave a false confession under duress.

00:07on Wednesday, claiming he gave a false confession under duress while playing in China.
00:16The day before, the Chinese Football Association, CFA, issued a lifetime ban on 38 players,
00:23including Sun, after a two-year investigation into match-fixing and gambling.
00:41The midfielder, who lost his spot in the South Korean side since the scandal broke, was released
00:47and returned home in March after nearly 10 months of detention in China.
00:52He initially agreed not to speak about his experience, but decided to break his silence
00:56after being included in the bans.
00:59Though not mistreated, he described his detention conditions as harsh.
01:04Sun has now signed with Suwon FC and hopes to continue his career.
01:09China's Public Security Ministry and General Administration of Sport have not commented
01:13on Sun's statement.
01:15The Chinese Football Association could not immediately be reached for comment on Sun's
01:20remarks.
