00:00Beautiful life.
00:06From the capital of Cornwall, England, this is Pride Toro 2024.
00:30From the city streets.
00:32No matter what the others say.
00:38Royal children.
00:40Walk, walk away.
00:45From the city streets.
00:47No matter what the others say.
00:53Royal children.
01:00Walk, walk away.
01:05No matter what the others say.
01:11From the city streets.
01:15No matter what the others say.
01:20Royal children.
01:23Walk, walk away.
01:27No matter what the others say.
01:32I'd love to introduce you to two more icons of the Toro queer scene.
01:37Please make some noise for Matt and Phil!
01:42That's bad Toro Pride!
01:46We are looking for our fourth mock mayor.
01:51We took a poll of you guys and you told us that you wanted our next mock mayor to be a voice for the LGBTQ community.
02:09In Cornish culture, the mock mayor is the voice of the voiceless.
02:15We thought that was a very good intersection between Cornish culture and queer culture.
02:24If you think that's you, please do come and see us to apply.
02:29We'll be hanging around the Pride shop for the next hour.
02:32Come and see us, we'll talk you through it.
02:35Don't be scared.
02:37Once you've applied, we'll be meeting at the community stage which is on Boskowen Street just before 3 o'clock.
02:44Where you will be called up on stage to make your bid for election in front of, hopefully, a BAME mob.
02:53Where is the community stage?
02:57The community stage is on Boskowen Street, so it's just down there, around to the left.
03:02I work at Fratchflick Local Hospital, so I've probably met someone or someone close to you who are 100 patients a day.
03:11In Cornwall, my LGBTQ practice hasn't been as active as it used to be in Southampton.
03:16I used to be part of the Queer Alternative, which was a LGBTQ charity to promote understanding of LGBTQ in alternative subcultures.
03:24Being goth and gay can be quite an isolating area.
03:27As part of that, I used to run events and also workshops.
03:30We'd also be part of supporting security workers in promoting their understanding.
03:35I believe that everyone should be free of violence to love who they need to, or want to.
03:42And that's one of the main reasons I joined the LGBTQ charities, to promote the understanding that no one should die because of who they love.
03:50And that is what I stand for now.
03:55Thank you very much.
03:57Mraz.
03:59Mraz is Cornish for thank you, if anyone's wondering.
04:03I'm not just spouting random syllables here.
04:06Oh, I don't know about that.
04:09Right, over to our last candidate, Trixie the Therapy Dog.
04:14She loves people and has worked hard this year and would love to continue.
04:20So, over to you.
04:23You won't say much.
04:25Trixie couldn't be with us today. She's at home on her rest day.
04:28But Trixie has worked three prides through Cornwall.
04:31She's your biggest ally. She'll always be your friend.
04:34And she wants a more inclusive and diverse Cornwall for everybody.
04:38So, that's all. And she's always happy to be there for a cuddle.
04:41Hugo is just with me and everybody else.
04:43That's why he doesn't do the job, but there you go.
04:48Mraz.
04:54So, next we're going to call each candidate back up one at a time.
04:59For you, this comes over to you now to make your choice who you want.
05:05Norman!
05:09Norman's posse here today.
05:13Thank you, Norman, Mraz.
05:15Third up we have Sam.
05:17If you can step up to the stage.
05:19If you think Sam and that fine moustache
05:22is going to represent Cornwall Pride LGBTQ community
05:26for the coming year,
05:28make some noise now!
05:38Mraz, many thanks to you all.
05:41And lastly,
05:43if you think Trixie, the therapy dog
05:47I keep stopping myself from saying the wonder dog.
05:50If you think Trixie, the therapy dog
05:52should represent the LGBTQ plus community
05:55for the next coming year,
05:57make some noise now!
06:06Mraz to Huy, Trixie.
06:09So, we are now going to make our deliberations.
06:13Just to say, all our candidates this year are guys.
06:18Or male presenting, let's put it that way.
06:21Male presenting.
06:23Apart from Trixie, who's dog presenting.
06:30It's who puts themselves forward.
06:35Your options are based on who puts themselves forward.
06:39If you think you should be representing
06:42Cornwall Pride LGBTQ plus community,
06:46we are always here looking for candidates.
06:49So, do come and make yourselves known to us.
06:52Mraz to Huy.
06:54And do we have any winners?
06:56We have a winner.
06:58So, do you want to do it in reverse order?
07:00We will do it in reverse order.
07:02So, in fourth place,
07:04with 85 on the clockometer,
