Londoners elated Princess Kate has finished chemotherapy

Londoners rejoiced at news that Kate, Britain's Princess of Wales announced that she had finished her course of preventative chemotherapy for cancer on Monday (September 9).

Kate, 42, wife of heir-to-the-throne Prince William, had major abdominal surgery in January which revealed the presence of cancer and has been undergoing treatment since then.

In a personal message accompanying an intimate video of her with her husband and their three young children, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Princes George, 11, and Louis, 6, Kate said she would be carrying out a handful of public engagements later this year.

Commenting on Kate’s announcement, people in London interviewed by Reuters expressed their enthusiasm, with some calling it “amazing news” and others noting it as a significant change compared to just a few years ago.

00:00This is a family. A life as you know it can change in an instant. And we've had to find those closest to you.
00:18Amazing. Amazing that she's completed it. Like, who doesn't want that news? It's so good.
00:23And she's got the kids, and yeah, I can't imagine how scary and emotional it's been.
00:29What an amazing thing, yeah.
00:31Well, I think she has to have a balance between her private life and not putting too much stress on herself,
00:36because obviously cancer is kind of sort of a, you know, can be caused by stress.
00:41So I think she needs to find that balance with enjoying herself, but also just having a good quality of life for herself and her family.
00:53Well, I'm really pleased for her. It's nice, because it's been a while, hasn't it?
00:56Poor lady. And being in the public eye, everybody's sort of wondering what she's...
01:01It must be hard for you to do, you know, with public watching you all the time. So yeah, it's really good news.
01:06Well, I think it's good that anyone can finish their cancer treatment, and hopefully that she'll get through it,
01:14and she lives like anyone else, because we all deserve to live.
01:17And Kate's actually my favourite royal, so yeah. So yeah, I hope she gets better soon.
01:27Yeah, it's unusual to see the royal family do something like that.
01:30So it's quite nice, because it's obviously the younger generation of the royals is different to the older generation of the royals,
01:36so I think it's quite nice that they can do something like that, or they feel they can do something like that,
01:41because I think years ago the royal family didn't do that sort of thing.
01:56.
