00:00We are in People VIP, on the way to the crown of Miss Universe and here we have a beautiful
00:10Boricua, Jennifer Colon Alvarado, Miss Puerto Rico 2024, welcome and you must be more than
00:19ready for this November 16, my girl, how are you and how do you feel?
00:25Oh, I feel so happy, so grateful to have this opportunity, I say that it is like the
00:32click movie, when you gave back to life, if you could have the opportunity to repeat
00:36something that was not given to you and you can do it, well, I'm kind of living that, like a
00:41kind of déjà vu, so I want to live it here now and enjoy it completely.
00:47So beautiful, that's what it's about, first of all, and well, also having so many examples that inspire you, so many queens of your land who have worn that crown with so much honor, with so much pride, and well, also preparing you with your own message and your own essence, Jen, what would that be, what, let's say, is your cause and the message you would like the day they put that crown on you in Miss Universe, what would it be?
01:17For me, the most important thing is what I lived, because I always like to talk from the point of view that I lived, that I spent, and that is self-love, to rebuild your self-esteem piece by piece, to find yourself again, I have a social work that is a movement called Beautifully Human, where I am doing a challenge, I challenge everyone to upload a photo that is not over-edited, digitized, like artificial intelligence,
01:45that we learn to embrace our imperfections, our insecurities, and that when we look at ourselves in the mirror, we love that person we are seeing, and hey, I'm not saying that we don't use a filter, or good lighting, or we do our little challenges, because everything that makes us feel divine is very good, it is simply not to change your passions, it is to transmit a message through social media that we have to love ourselves, that we have to connect with our essence,
02:12and above all, that it is never too late to pursue your dreams, to be able to do something that you love very much, you have to turn off that negativity, that negative voice that sometimes tells us that you are not capable, and be brave to achieve all your goals.
02:29Jenny, I think that self-love is also the best cosmetic, the best accessory, and also, as you say, it comes out of the inside and makes all the difference on the outside, so how nice that is, let's say, your flag, and something that we all need, men, women, children, of all ages, of all ...
02:53Wherever you are, that self-love can really make all the difference. Well, and apart from that, you have another very nice mission, which is to show that culture, those traditions of your land, I imagine that you already have the typical suit ready, some fashion detail, tell us about that part.
03:11I have, I have the concept of the typical suit, they will be elaborating it soon, and it is ... I'm going to tell you a story. There was a certainty of my universes where I saw a queen who wore a typical suit, more or less like that, similar to mine, it goes along that line, it is not the same, and as a child I visualized myself with something like that, and for me it was like a déjà vu when they made me the proposal,
03:41and it filled me with a lot of joy because it is a very Puerto Rican suit, it is a cultural heritage of what represents us, the Boricuas, that we wear the Taíno, the African, and the Spanish in the blood, and I am very excited to put on that suit in Mexico and shout Puerto Rico.
04:02Beautiful, beautiful, and the fashion part, you are supporting yourself with designers from your land, tell us, I know you can't give us suits and specific details, but at least tell us about designers, who is supporting you to select that wardrobe, because I know that all eyes are on you, on your beauty, but in the end they are also looking at the dress, this, the other, the color, how it turned out, shiny, not shiny, so how has that collaboration been for you?
04:33It has been very beautiful, because in 2009, 2008, 2007, I modeled a lot in Puerto Rico, and I worked with all the local designers, and when I made my comeback, as we say, and I decided to compete and win, everyone was overflowing with support, so all the designers in Puerto Rico are supporting me, Ecliptica, Harry Robles, Luis Antonio,
04:57I have so many, so many designers that we are working with, that I feel very happy, I can tell you that we have a dilemma, because many colors suit me very well, so it is very difficult, and in fact, the stylist, Edgar, from the organization of Miss Universe Puerto Rico, came one day with a giant bag of many fabrics, with many colors, to try on colors, because if everything suits you very well, what are we going to do?
05:23But I want to wear something that makes me feel like a goddess, I want to wear something that makes me feel empowered, and something that goes with Mexico.
05:36How beautiful, how beautiful, I'm sure you will do it, and especially with what we were talking about, with your great dose of self-love. Well, Jen, I just have to wish you all the success in the world, that security and that beauty you already have, then to shine and to represent your land with all that magic that you already have.
06:00I send you a big kiss, we will be aware of you this next November 16th, and not only that, the previous week too, because many events are coming, then to shine as you will surely do.
