00:00two men. Lewis Clark, the
00:05champion, the younger of the
00:06two. He is considerably taller,
00:08heavier, and with an 11
00:10centimeter reach advantage. It
00:12is the heavyweight. So,
00:13statistically or on paper, it
00:15doesn't always count as much.
00:18This is power dominated boxing
00:21before your eyes. It is the
00:23West Australian Heavyweight
00:24title up for grabs. The
00:26champion is Lewis Clark. He's
00:27in the white trunks. The
00:29champion is Dylan Winter in the
00:32black trunks. Six 3 minute
00:34rounds is our journey and you
00:37said uh straight away that
00:38obviously significantly larger
00:40is Clark and it's it's because
00:43uh obviously Winter stepped up
00:45a couple of divisions. He was
00:46in the light heavyweight
00:47division. His last fight, he
00:49actually competed for national
00:51honors unsuccessful. Now, he's
00:53stepping up two divisions and
00:54he's uh competing for state
00:57titles. So, yeah, from light
00:59heavyweight to heavyweight in
01:01uh in one fight. Yeah, he
01:03skipped a couple of divisions
01:04that's for sure and he's just
01:05being hit with a couple of good
01:06shots there as well from Clark.
01:08Now, he's he's naturally a
01:09light heavyweight. Interesting
01:11uh information boys. Uh Dylan
01:12Winter has held the WA State
01:14Heavyweight Tally. Won that in
01:152021 with a win over Ryan
01:17Williams. That is his only
01:19heavyweight fight besides
01:20tonight. So, all these other
01:22fights have been a light
01:23heavyweight. No, none of
01:26it. It's amazing that uh he can
01:28transform the body so quickly.
01:30I can certainly transform it
01:32going up and skipping divisions
01:34but I'm no good coming back
01:35down. Uh so good on him. Uh
01:38that shows a massive level of
01:40commitment, dedication, and uh
01:42and focus. We're we're talking
01:45about twelve kilos. Yeah, it's
01:47massive. It's massive and and
01:48you can and you can see it
01:49already in the ring. The
01:51dominance of Clark compared to
01:53But you know what? He's uh he's
01:56putting up a good fight
01:57already. He's already starting
01:58to back up Clark which is a
02:00positive sign for him. Needs to
02:02back up the bigger guy. Needs
02:03to back up the heavier guy. Well
02:05he certainly just can't be
02:06bullied and that's what he's
02:07got. He's not getting bullied
02:08at this stage. You can see he's
02:10uh not scared to throw punches
02:12and the only way you can win a
02:14title is by throwing punches.
02:16Yep.
02:19Lewis Clark keeps on getting
02:20better each time that I see
02:22him. He's defeated every man in
02:24his face. He's got one loss in
02:25his record but he avenged that
02:27loss the next year. So uh he's
02:29defeated every man he's faced
02:31and uh and he keeps on getting
02:32better. The interesting thing
02:33again, winter is a naturally
02:35light heavyweight. So, whether
02:37he's got the power to uh he's
02:38definitely got the speed. Yeah,
02:40Clark's on a four fight win
02:42streak at present. So, he's
02:43looking to make it five tonight
02:45but I think it went to be
02:48saying, you're not, you're not
02:50So, the nice straight punches
02:52from both guys there. Usually,
02:54it was Clark. Then, it was
02:55winter but really well-timed
02:57straight right hands. Yeah,
02:59good shot there from winter for
03:00sure. A right hand really
03:02rocking the head back of Clark
03:04as Clark just pause with a
03:06couple of shots there. Just a
03:08little bit off the mark and he
03:10really was pulling. He was
03:12almost stuck in between the
03:14south and an orthodox stance for
03:16a moment and I've seen that
03:17already with Lewis that he moves
03:19from right handed to left
03:21handed. Round one down. One of
03:23six back to the corners we go
03:25and this stadium knows this
03:27song, Andy. Oh, do they? What?
03:29It's been played a few times
03:31when the green machine green
03:33comes stomping down the hallway
03:36as we see some replays of that
03:38first round and it wasn't a bad
03:40one from winter and Clark. It's
03:42a couple of shots landed and let
03:45me tell you, winter is here to
03:47win. But he's come to win. You
03:49can see he's throwing plenty of
03:51punches and not scared to mix it
03:53with the bigger boys. He's had
03:55some good good fights in the
03:57ring especially in Perth,
03:59Western Australia. He's only
04:00lost with the outside of WA so
04:02he's undefeated in this state
04:03but I was curious to see how
04:04he's going to go tonight again
04:05moving back up to heavyweight
04:07but also his first fight in the
04:08ring since 2022 and that was a
04:10good opening opening round for
04:12him.
04:16There we go. Round number two
04:21in the heavyweight division for
04:25WA state title. Lewis Clark in
04:27the wide. Dylan Winter in the
04:30black. Contrasting boxes,
04:33styles, and seemingly game
04:36plans. What we saw in the first
04:39round. You can see Dylan Clark
04:42now just transitioning back
04:44into perhaps a more orthodox
04:47game plan. He's the bigger,
04:49taller, and longer of the
04:50fighters. So he needs to
04:52establish that jab, Nathan. He
04:54needs to keep the shorter,
04:56smaller boxer at at arm's
04:58distance. Certainly does and he
05:00like you said he's starting to
05:01do that now. He's starting to
05:02find his range and you can see
05:03all those shots are coming off
05:05that initial jab as we see
05:08Winter storming forward with a
05:10big hit and a miss there. Did
05:13you see the contact? Storming.
05:15Yeah, that was a good one. That
05:17was a good one. I didn't mind
05:19it.
05:22Winter is trying to get back
05:23the title he claimed in that
05:252021 bout. He did stop Ryan
05:27Williams in round four.
05:33Circling the perimeter a lot
05:34here, Clark. So, he's already
05:37with the respect there is
05:38Dylan Winter. Yeah and and he's
05:40playing the counter and roll.
05:41He's he's more of the
05:42defensive side of Lewis Clark
05:45and the way to beat a counter
05:47puncher and is is is to balk a
05:49little bit is to almost draw
05:51something out of your opponent
05:52so you can counter off that at
05:53the moment, you know, Winter's
05:55just storming forward with with
05:57those shots like I said but if
05:59maybe if he balks and and he
06:01tries to draw a punch out of
06:02Clark that he can then counter
06:03off, you'll probably have a
06:04little bit more success.
06:07That left hand again. It's a
06:09good shot.
06:14Good shot there from Winter
06:16over the top.
06:22Yeah. And I think that Winter
06:24is coming up quite as well
06:26also.
06:29Trying to get that left hand
06:31out of here once again is Lewis
06:33Clark. Yeah. Clark once again
06:35happy to follow up the back foot
06:36as Winter scores with another
06:38shot. Turning his opponent
06:40nicely.
06:44Right hand there from Clark.
06:49Nice and high of Dylan Winter.
06:53Not allowing Clark any free
06:55shots, not allowing him the
06:56opportunity to tap on the chin
06:59and actually calling the bigger
07:01man in now. You can always see
07:03Clark's a little bit
07:04uncomfortable going forward.
07:05It's like he's he's he's a true
07:07champion. He's not going
07:09backwards or more comfortable
07:11going backwards than he is
07:12forward. He had his opponent
07:15opponent's back to the ropes
07:16but he almost didn't know what
07:17to do there.
07:21That's interesting, isn't it?
07:23Yeah. Gotta say each to their
07:26own and respect to all. Not
07:29something I'm a massive fan on
07:31unless you've had 45 fights and
07:34you know the complications and
07:36it's it's great to be doing it
07:38but Lewis is obviously it's
07:40part of his game plan. It's
07:41part of his makeup and he's
07:43he's comfortable doing it.
07:44Yeah, I'm certainly not a fan
07:46of it either. Andy, I think you
07:47should master, you know, one
07:49stance first before you go to
07:51the next and these boys
07:52obviously, it's still early in
07:54their career as we saw some
07:56replays there from the second
07:57round. It was another good one
07:59and I'm looking forward to this
08:00third round coming up. You
08:02normally see boxers change
08:03stance in the lower weight
08:05It's probably the last couple of
08:07fights from Lewis Clark that
08:08he's brought into his game.
08:09He's happy, you know, fighting
08:11off the back foot but it's just
08:13been the last couple of fights.
08:14He's he's sort of trying to
08:16switch those that stance and
08:18put it into his game and I'm
08:19with you boys. I'm not sure the
08:21heavyweight uh uh you should be
08:23doing it.
08:27Round number three coming your
08:28way live around Australia on
08:30seven plus. This is the premier
08:32of the year.
08:36here in Perth, Western
08:37Australia tonight. Next week,
08:38we are live on Saturday night
08:40from Brisbane with an
08:41Australian title between Dan
08:43Hill and Lewis Chadwick as our
08:45main event and what a back end
08:47of the year. We have planned
08:49for you with uh a number of
08:51cards in a number of different
08:53states and some matchups that
08:56are just mouthwatering. at the
09:00moment, the heavyweight title on
09:02the line. The champion is Lewis
09:04Clark in the white and the
09:06challenger is Dylan Winter in
09:09the black trunks.
09:13Winter moving forward. He's
09:16doing a great job. Obviously,
09:18first fight back since 2022.
09:20So, and you know, out of his
09:22five fights, he's almost had
09:24those like one a year. So, it's
09:27very spaced out fight. So, it's
09:29one of the first three steps in
09:30the ring is Dylan Winter. So,
09:32he never had that roll on
09:33effect. So, he's doing
09:35remarkably well here coming off
09:37such a long layoff and such a
09:40spacing between all these
09:41bouts.
09:46took it very well. Two
09:49genuinely tough fellas is what
09:51you got here. Two two hard
09:53heads.
09:56Manhandle here trying to grip
09:59grapple, trying to wrestle,
10:00make the other carry their
10:02weight and wear them down. So
10:05much that goes into it. Good
10:09job there from Winter.
10:22getting in the middle of the
10:23two big units pushing them back
10:25in. Round number three. Move
10:30into that left handed stance.
10:33Gee, I reckon there's an
10:34opportunity there for Dylan
10:36Winter when Big Louie moves
10:38into that left hand stance. The
10:41power hand is down boys hip. So
10:43it's a it's an opportunity for
10:45a straight right hand from
10:46Winter. Certainly. Definitely.
10:48And that's why I'm not a fan of
10:49it. I think you just three of
10:51the master at one. I think you
10:53have to leave it to your
10:54original stance.
11:00Yeah, it was.
11:07Nice.
11:10He's pushing across the ring.
11:11He's great. Short right hand
11:13from Lewis Clark and he's got a
11:15bit of confidence with that as
11:17a right handed also from
11:19Winter. So both boys hitting
11:20each other in that little
11:21bit of space there as the final
11:24seconds of that round come to
11:26an end. Good moment for us at
11:29the end and again, that's the
11:31last thing that the judges see
11:32so sometimes those sort of
11:33things can sway. Certainly as we
11:35see some replays of that third
11:37round and it was a good one. It
11:39was a mixed one. They're almost
11:40punching in turns at times.
11:42Both boys, Lewis Clark having
11:44his moments then Winter having
11:45his moments throughout that
11:46round.
11:50And once again, it's a smaller
11:53man pushing back the big man.
11:56Yeah, you're right, Nathan.
11:57Even after Clark landed that
11:59nice punch, it was a still
12:00winter pushing forward. Like I
12:03said, it's almost like he's not
12:05comfortable going forward.
12:06Doesn't know what to do. He's
12:08happy to box off the back foot
12:09which is fine. I think you said
12:13it right again rather than
12:15concentrating on switching
12:16stance. Maybe work on the game
12:17where he's pushing forward as a
12:18player. Yeah, and that's what
12:21he's going to always need to be
12:22mindful of if he's the bigger
12:24guy in the ring. Keep pushing
12:26forward. Keep invading the
12:28personal space I guess of the
12:30the smaller boxer. starting off
12:35round number four of the second
12:36half of this bout. Just firing
12:39the left hands to the the style
12:43of Dylan Winter hasn't changed
12:44that the guards up nice and
12:46He's protecting the chin. He
12:49continues to the methodical
12:52push forward.
12:56You mentioned before Nathan not
12:58not in the ring since 2022 and
13:00it hasn't been too much ring
13:02rush shown by the winter
13:03soldier. Certainly not. I mean,
13:04obviously, he's it's a
13:06testament to his preparation.
13:07Obviously, he's had a good
13:08sparring because I mean,
13:10nothing quite emulates being in
13:11the ring but if you get some
13:13good competition sparring in
13:15the ring, you know, potentially
13:17it helps your cause and it
13:18looks like he's he's obviously
13:20done the work in the gym. Well,
13:22the corner big rig Dale
13:24Phillips, one of the best in
13:25the business. You always hear
13:26Colin McKean's voice with great
13:29support and right there in the
13:31corner was Lewis Clark's best
13:33punch of the fight. He caught
13:34caught him with the right hand
13:35as he was coming in winter. Oh
13:38and another right hand just
13:39missing the mark there just
13:41around the glove. It's heavy
13:44weight. You expect the
13:46unexpected but you're always
13:47expecting the knockout. It may
13:50not always happen but it's just
13:52what what we believe the heavy
13:54weights are the knockout
13:55specialists and and as a result
13:57both corners very on edge
14:01despite the fact we're middle
14:03way through round number four.
14:05They know that one clean shot
14:07or still finishes this really
14:09nice right hand from Clark.
14:11Certainly, his best round
14:12of the night. Great shots and
14:14clear shots and obviously very
14:16easy to score for the judges
14:18and it all started at the
14:20closing stages of the previous
14:21round. Yeah, I certainly did
14:23and it's been a flowing effect
14:25once again into this round
14:28four. Winter still happy to
14:32push forward and Clark happy to
14:33be on the back foot. Probably
14:36the opportunity you were
14:37talking about Andy. Yeah. Oh
14:40and from both guys again. One
14:43initiating the right hand and
14:44the counter right hand was
14:45equally as good and this is
14:48where we see differences on
14:50scorecards because depending on
14:52where the judge is sitting,
14:53they don't have the benefit of
14:54the replay and they've only got
14:56one view of it. They might not
14:58see one of those punches that
15:00are fired almost simultaneously
15:04to really good right hands.
15:0730 seconds of round number
15:10four and a lot of boxing left
15:13in this one.
15:16Wow.
15:20Oh, machine gun. Louie Clark.
15:23Wow. Closing stages of the
15:26round as well. So, I left the
15:28mark in the eyes of the judges.
15:29That's what he's trying to do
15:30there. Oh, even regardless of
15:32that, those gunshots there at
15:34the end, I think he stole that
15:35round. Just the more clearer
15:37shots were scored by the big
15:39man out of the red corner as we
15:41see some replays of that fourth
15:43round and you'll see those
15:44clean shots hitting the mark
15:46for Clark really rocking the
15:48head back of the opponent. Good
15:50shot once again as winter come
15:53storming in and getting caught
15:55once again with that right hand
15:56and that was a rapid fire shots
15:58at the end just to say, hey,
16:00boys, make sure you give me this
16:03one. We didn't say it and and
16:05you talk about perfectly about
16:06angles on the replay. We saw
16:08that winter landed that the
16:09last punch of the round. Yeah.
16:13He hasn't sat down during the
16:15round here. Louis Clark. I just
16:17wonder if the machine gun was
16:20the last hurrah if he was
16:23expending all the energy there
16:26or maybe playing a bit of mind
16:28games obviously saying, you
16:29know what? I don't have to sit
16:30down. I'm going to I'm going to
16:31punch this out.
16:37Oh, good shot there from winter.
16:45Looking to push Clark back
16:47against the ropes and make the
16:49champion carry his body weight.
16:55Not great punches but you know
16:57scoring punches. Nonetheless,
16:58he's got to pull that up. 100%.
17:06Pushing the champion from one
17:08side of the ring to the other
17:09just above our commentary
17:11position. It's like with jabs
17:13by winter and the call for came
17:14from the corner to go to the
17:15body but that didn't come.
17:22Some athletes hear the
17:23instructions. each and every
17:27time they hear the the deep
17:29breaths from their corner.
17:30Other athletes do not hear a
17:32thing. and that's a lot to do
17:36with experience, Andy.
17:37Obviously, the more experience
17:38you get, you get more
17:40comfortable in the ring and
17:41with comfort obviously comes
17:42that clarity and that clarity
17:44becomes you'll be able to hear
17:45things coming from your corner.
17:47Both boys. Yeah, they're
17:50fighting for a title and one's
17:52already won a title but still
17:54very in the infant stages of
17:56his career. Good shot there in
17:58the mouthpiece comes out of
17:59Clark. It was a right hand from
18:01Winter that caused it. Time has
18:04been called at a minute. 20 of
18:07the round. So, those seconds
18:09will be added at the end. at
18:14ten of them.
18:19Right hand once again from
18:22Clark. He's having better
18:24moments. It's just he's still
18:25going. He's going backwards.
18:27The smaller fighter is pushing
18:29back the bigger fighter which
18:30is quite extraordinary as Clark
18:33comes forward with another
18:34right hand. Plenty of few
18:37cleaner punches the last couple
18:39of days as well, isn't he?
18:40Certainly has.
18:45Is it inside work? Both guys
18:49are back into the center of the
18:51ring. We're going to see
18:53the clock at the end of this
18:55round.
18:59Right in front of you. Our
19:01commentary positions. They keep
19:03looking up just at times at the
19:05big screen here at HBF Stadium
19:08where they can see the clock
19:09and how long is left in the
19:11round. Normally, for the more
19:14experienced boxer, these two
19:16guys have figured out where the
19:17clock is. They know how long is
19:19left in the round. It's been
19:22a while since they've had a
19:24round like this. They're
19:25probably deservingly feeling
19:27the pinch. Another good round
19:30there from Clark. I think he's
19:32starting to come home the
19:33better. Just as I say that,
19:35Winter comes charging forward
19:37with his own shots. He elects
19:39to stand up in the corner again
19:41is Clark. Big Louie almost
19:45decided enough was enough before
19:47the round was out. He turned the
19:49back and gave a bit of side eye
19:52There's been some replays here
19:54from that fifth round and it
19:55was another explosive round.
19:57The cleanest shots come from the
19:58big man Clark but they played
20:01their normal roles. Winter on
20:03the front foot and Clark on the
20:05back foot as we see the mouth
20:07coming out there halting the
20:09action just for momentarily.
20:14Those boys putting on a show
20:18for the crowd. Yeah, that they
20:21three more minutes to go. How
20:24are you scoring this wherever
20:25you're watching live around
20:26Australia on seven plus because
20:28here at ringside, I've got no
20:31idea.
20:36Crowd loving it. Hope you are
20:38too. The boys hug it out before
20:42looking to break each other's
20:44nose. You go figure. There's a
20:46uppercut attempt from Lewis
20:48Clark.
20:52Everyone Lewis Clark has
20:54fought has had a winning record
20:57modern sound much but you go
20:59back through Australian boxing
21:01history and try and find me
21:03anyone from any division that's
21:05had six fights against guys all
21:08with a winning record and the
21:10fact of the matter is there
21:12would be very very few.
21:13Typically early in the career
21:15and obviously, you know, you
21:17try and get those runs on the
21:18board first before you start
21:19stepping up but just as you're
21:21talking before, there was a
21:23monster shot landed from winter
21:26as he caught Clark in the
21:28corner could be a deciding
21:30factor in this final round. The
21:32sixth and final round for the
21:34state title on the line.
21:36Output's been good and there's
21:38a there's a cup that was formed
21:40just to the left of the left eye
21:43I think that was that punch
21:45that that Nathan was talking
21:46about as well. So, a great
21:48punch and this could be a
21:50factor as well. Again, it's a
21:52true light heavyweight going up
21:53to heavyweight in the later
21:54rounds. He hasn't been this
21:55deep as a heavyweight before.
21:57Certainly and obviously, you
21:58can see he's a little bit more
21:59lighter on his feet as well and
22:01still the one marching forward
22:02scoring with a great jab there
22:04once again, the more clean shots
22:06all of a sudden have turned
22:07back in his favor. So, it's
22:09going to be a really hard one
22:10for the judges to score because
22:12they've almost been punching in
22:13rounds and and fighting in
22:15rounds. One round you, one round
22:17me. It's a really hard one.
22:19There's been some significant
22:20momentum shifts in this one.
22:24Winter still pushing the fight.
22:27Goes straight into the corner
22:30and engages. First punch was a
22:32beauty. Then he got smothered
22:33up.
22:38Punching out with the jab there.
22:40Really strong jab from Dylan
22:42Winter. But just doing it one
22:43at a time at the moment, Andy.
22:44Everything singles from Clark
22:46at the moment. Yes, it might be
22:47a bit of fatigue but it's very
22:49dangerous to throw a single
22:50shot. A single shot can be
22:52counted. Doubles and triples
22:53cannot be counted because you're
22:55forcing your opponent to go
22:56backwards. Clark keeping an eye
22:59on the clock as well. Did you
23:00spot that Andy? Yeah, spotted
23:01that a couple of times and he
23:03right now knows there is 30
23:05seconds or there thereabouts
23:07remaining in this contest which
23:09is 30 seconds to survive but
23:11it's also only 30 seconds to
23:14impress the judges. And the
23:16mouthpiece comes out once again.
23:18Both boys really starting to
23:19feel the pinch. They're in no
23:21hurry to get this mouth guard
23:22back in because they're happy
23:23for the rest. Tell you what
23:25might come out again is the
23:26machine gun. Yes. Yeah, one
23:28final machine gun. He knows. A
23:31blast. We've only got 15
23:35seconds remaining in what has
23:38been a really good state-level
23:41match up in the heavyweight
23:43division. Four honors. And
23:47they're standing there cracking
23:50away. They don't have to go
23:51looking for each other. Neither
23:53boy has been difficult to find
23:59and a little bit of feeling at
24:01the end of it. Hey, how about
24:03one more round? Well, I think
24:05they want to go one more round.
24:06I'm not sure what happened
24:07but I think that uh Winter
24:09probably thought that uh that
24:11Clark went in with his head.
24:12That's the only thing I can I
24:13can expect. I thought he did.
24:15I I thought he did. I don't
24:16know if it was intentional.
24:18They're very tired. I mean,
24:19it's a grueling heavyweight
24:20match up. To see the girls
24:23holding up the hardware that's
24:25on the line tonight. It is that
24:27state championship. The WA
24:29State Championship. Both boys
24:30wanting a piece of that.
24:32Nathan, you shouldn't be
24:33looking at the girls. You
24:34should be talking about the
24:36box and the boxes and what's
24:37coming up next. Why are you
24:39nudging me underneath the
24:40table, Andy? Hello to Mrs.
24:45DiCarlo and the kids back in
24:47Brisbane.
24:52Question while we're waiting
24:53for the scorecards, gentlemen.
24:55Again, uh will Lewis Clark
24:56retain his belt or will Dylan
24:58Winter win it for a second time
25:00in his career in his second
25:01heavyweight fight? It's going
25:02to be intriguing and in his
25:04sixth round, I mean, it could
25:05be a draw because there was
25:06moments. Yeah. You know what?
25:08It it wouldn't surprise me if
25:10it was a draw. Brett and I
25:12reckon that's a really good
25:13point, mate. Um I think there
25:15could be potentially quite a
25:17difference in the three
25:18scorecards and as well and it
25:21it's an amazing one uh boxing.
25:23If it's a scorecard that we
25:26don't agree with, we argue and
25:29say, oh, the judge has got no
25:30idea or or they're corrupt.
25:32It's it's just a difference of
25:34opinion. It's a difference of
25:36opinion just because we don't
25:38agree with the judge. It
25:39doesn't mean there's anything
25:40wrong with what the judge has
25:42seen.
25:48The two big boys now had
25:50centering. Let's go to James
25:52O'Shea.
25:56Alright, ladies and gentlemen,
25:57we'll get set to make this one
26:00official. We'll get our two
26:01fighters to uh centering and
26:03we'll get our two fighters to
26:05help us with the presentation
26:06here. One of our great sponsors
26:08supporters here tonight but
26:10ladies and gentlemen, show your
26:11appreciation. Put your hands
26:12together for both fighters. The
26:14fight certainly be fitting of
26:16the Western Australian state
26:18heavyweight title. We go to the
26:20judges school cards and all
26:23three judges are judged the
26:25contest at fifty-nine to 55 all
26:27to your winner by unanimous
26:29And still WA state heavyweight
26:33champion from the red corner.
