00:00 [crowd noise]
00:19 [bell rings]
00:20 [crowd noise]
00:43 Obviously tough sparring for him so he's, to come into this fight, having that tough preparation is going to hold him in good stead.
00:49 [crowd noise]
00:50 It's been 11 months since we've seen Lewis Clark as well so he was eager to get back in here tonight and put on a show for the fans of boxing here at Metro City.
01:01 Yeah, well you can see, I mean, you spoke about records before and how deceiving they can be but Singh's lost to Kane Watts and his last fight was to Mostar Neiman who he lost to as well so, you know, Kane Watts lost to Cruiserweight Australian title to Danny Green.
01:16 Exactly.
01:17 He hasn't lost to bad fighters.
01:20 [crowd noise]
01:23 So, Lewis Clark comes in here tonight pretty confident, we'll have to speak to him in the fighter meetings during the week, nice body shot as we speak.
01:31 [crowd noise]
01:42 He's settled down quite quickly in this heavyweight battle. It's still a don't blink sort of fight.
01:47 [crowd noise]
01:51 And three of the wins from Lewis Clark coming by way of knockout.
01:57 Yeah, his state title win was a big knockout.
02:00 It was.
02:01 And again, he only lost to Alec Williams, he was winning that fight and got caught. That's what happens in the heavyweight division.
02:07 [crowd noise]
02:09 It was way back in 2021 as well.
02:11 Yeah.
02:12 You and I called that fight.
02:13 [crowd noise]
02:16 I think we've actually called each of, all of Lewis Clark's fights.
02:20 Yep, yeah.
02:21 [crowd noise]
02:23 I think we're more than qualified to talk about the man.
02:26 Yeah, and I've been witness to the sparring with those, the series.
02:29 [crowd noise]
02:31 As you said that Paul Vise uppercut there by Clark.
02:35 Singh in this one, it didn't phase him too much.
02:38 [crowd noise]
02:40 I'm waiting for Singh to, again, you said he's got that overhand right that he wants to land.
02:45 Yeah, he just tried to throw it there.
02:47 It looks like he's trying to set it up, but he hasn't pulled the trigger yet.
02:51 Yeah.
02:52 There's another opportunity.
02:53 He's trying to find his way to get on the inside, so.
02:55 [crowd noise]
02:58 Lewis has just got to keep sitting on that.
03:00 Oh, that was the right hand that he was talking about.
03:02 And that's where, Lewis, you want to see him just sit behind the jab.
03:05 You don't want to lead with a rip to the body.
03:07 He wants to sit like that.
03:09 Throw some jab, touch, touch, and then whack into the body.
03:12 That's what you want to see him do.
03:15 I'm glad he's here on time because I was informed at the weigh-in last night that he actually missed his flight.
03:21 That's the end of round one.
03:22 Can you believe that?
03:24 You know where you have to be and what you got on this week.
03:27 Missed his flight.
03:28 So that's how important this promotion is to the Dragonfire team and Tony Tolles because they covered it.
03:34 Yep.
03:35 They could have easily left Lewis Clark without an opponent, but no, they got him here, and I'm glad that he made the weigh-in and made the fight tonight.
03:41 Yeah.
03:42 And so far he's putting on a good show.
03:43 Both boys were, like you said, cautious of each other's power.
03:47 You see Gordie in the corner with Lewis.
03:51 And it's like the stools are in front of him, but he doesn't want to take it.
03:56 Yeah.
03:57 And then both guys not taking stools.
03:59 They say, "You're not having a good night with the stools tonight."
04:01 I don't understand.
04:03 If sports science hasn't taught us anything, as I said, for me, this one-minute break feels like 10 seconds.
04:12 It's really about sitting down, recovering.
04:14 You tell your fighter what they're doing well.
04:16 If they've got something to work on, you've got to tell them that, and that's it.
04:19 You've got to get them back out there, but you've got to use that as a recovery.
04:22 People want to stand.
04:23 They want to sit.
04:24 It's here or there.
04:25 I think, as I said, my vote is that you should sit to recover, but it hasn't seen the effect.
04:31 That's a nice jab from Lewis Clark to start the round.
04:35 Yeah.
04:36 Oh, that's annoying.
04:37 He moved it a little bit, Singh, but it seemed to bother him a little bit, that punch from Clark.
04:42 Yeah.
04:43 I'd like to see him go to the body, Lewis Clark.
04:45 He's headhunting a little bit, isn't he?
04:48 Now, Singh complains about head shots at the back of the head, but it's Purgolotti having nothing to that.
04:59 Lewis Clark's hands are well down.
05:01 He puts them up then, but they're down for a moment.
05:05 I think that's his corner, sort of got into him and said, "Get your hands up."
05:10 So they're keeping their distance, and Lewis Clark has switched to southpaw, and he's switched back to orthodox.
05:20 Oh, the uppercut was there for Clark, but just misses.
05:24 Singh was pretty lucky there.
05:25 I think that body shot was nice on Singh.
05:30 Took it pretty well, and he's moving around quite nicely.
05:34 Another nice little sharp uppercut that connects.
05:38 Singh tries with the left.
05:41 Yeah, both boys have slowed down a little bit here.
05:43 I'd like to see Lewis.
05:44 He looks fit, as I said, knowing that he's been sparring Matty, the Jedi Floyd.
05:47 I know he's had work.
05:49 He's got the finish on his side.
05:50 He's got to use that like that.
05:52 Nice jab.
05:53 Yeah, nice jab.
05:54 And I want to see a lot more punches.
05:57 So jab, jab, jabs, get in, work to the body, and then finish off to the head.
06:01 He might be picking up the bonus knockout.
06:03 Yeah, and again, that new box Scarborough, $500 still up for grabs.
06:11 And again, Lewis Clark is probably looking for it too much.
06:13 And again, he's thrown some nice jabs, but he hasn't established it.
06:18 Yeah, it all just comes back off the jab.
06:21 He can sit there, throw those few jabs, and then he's finding the punches.
06:24 But he's sort of sitting the jab, pausing, and then he's trying to go for the big punch.
06:30 But he's just got to follow it up after the jabs.
06:32 And that's where he'll find it.
06:34 So see, like that, leading with that looping hook.
06:36 If he throws the jab first, he'll land that hook.
06:39 That's a stiff jab, and he's had a bit of success with it in the round.
06:43 But I think you'd agree that there's opportunities for him to throw it,
06:47 establish it more, and maybe set up that knockout
06:52 and be a contender for that new box Scarborough, $500 up for grabs tonight
06:57 for knockout of the night.
06:58 Yeah, and that's where, again, with the height, the size, and reach,
07:00 you want to see him work the body, do some double body punches,
07:03 and then finish with an uppercut.
07:05 That's the side where he's going to give singing the biggest problem.
07:10 And again, if you're not content, you're a judge.
07:13 If you're not, as far as the knockout of the night's concerned,
07:15 if you're not content, that'll jackpot to Thunderdome 46,
07:18 where it'll be $1,000 up for grabs.
07:20 Correct.
07:21 He walked more close tonight in our last fight.
07:23 I'm amazed that he went the distance.
07:25 Yeah.
07:26 Oh, I said to Milan as he walked past, I thought that might have been it
07:30 with the way that he went down and the cruiserweight division.
07:32 Yeah, last night he got back up, so well done to Milan.
07:36 He won it done as well.
07:37 It was his only fight, and he just wanted to get that under his books.
07:41 It's a shame it wasn't sort of--it was a professional fight,
07:43 but it's a shame that he didn't have an exhibition title or a title
07:46 that he could have walked home with as well.
07:48 But I think he's just content enough.
07:50 Well, I don't know, Brett, because once you've got the fight bag,
07:53 I know he said that he's wired, but he made a deal,
07:55 but deals are there to be broken.
07:57 He looked good.
07:58 He looked good.
07:59 He looked skillful, and I think that he can obviously go again.
08:02 He seemed to mean it to me, though.
08:04 He's like, "You said you wanted to fight, but again, this is one fight,
08:06 not the guys that have had 20 fights, and I'm retiring,
08:09 and he's at a retirement."
08:12 Well, Tyson Fury did it.
08:15 So I want to see in this one, I really want to see Lewis just sit behind
08:18 a couple of jabs, double jab right into the body,
08:20 come back up with a hook to the head.
08:22 It's going to be there, but he's just got to sit behind the jab
08:24 and then follow the punch up.
08:25 So he throws the jab, but nothing's following up.
08:27 But nothing comes after it, Brett, and that's the next progression for Lewis.
08:31 He's got to throw more than one punch, because see there,
08:33 he's led with the lead hook.
08:35 He needs to do that after the jabs.
08:38 Oh, look at that.
08:39 That was a bit of a sneaky one in southpaw position.
08:42 Oh, that was nice.
08:44 That was what you were talking about, Paul, after the punch.
08:47 And that's where it is, combination punches, sitting it up with a jab
08:50 and then throwing what the punch that he wants to land.
08:53 I think it's there for him.
08:56 Yeah, and Singh's durable, though.
08:58 He's clever.
08:59 He's got some good moves of his own.
09:00 He is, and I don't think that overhand right was seen it a few times thrown,
09:04 and one has landed.
09:05 I don't think he's thrown his right hand enough.
09:08 No.
09:09 And again, he's probably getting frustrated because he can't get in on the inside.
09:13 It's one and two punches.
09:15 It's not enough.
09:16 There's not enough power at the moment to stop that.
09:18 And that was better from Lewis.
09:19 When he threw the jab, then he tried to rip straight away.
09:21 Now, Singh smothered it, but he had a plan then.
09:24 He had a plan, jab and rip.
09:26 And a nice hook.
09:30 Oh, that was--almost got caught on the counter there, Lewis Clark.
09:34 He's got to be careful.
09:37 Nice opportunity there for Ranjeet Singh.
09:41 He's slightly creeping forward, and again, he's trying to work on that jab.
09:57 His best moments are when he actually switched to southpaw,
10:00 landed that jab, and then the right hook.
10:01 Exactly the timing you were talking about, but he did it from the southpaw position.
10:05 And again, he's landing the jab.
10:08 There he is again.
10:09 But he doesn't follow up.
10:11 And that's where, as I said, he's only a young thought of the progression,
10:13 but once you've landed that jab, you've got to go with it.
10:15 You can't just keep throwing one punch, one punch, one punch.
10:19 That's what we're watching at the moment.
10:21 It's always just one punch.
10:24 And that's where I'd like to see some combinations.
10:27 Right down on the mouthguard, put your chin on your chest, and that's the confident.
10:32 Brad felt that one and gets right into it.
10:37 There's that big overhand right.
10:38 Brett, you said that Singh had spoken to you about.
10:41 Yeah, again, we've seen it a few times tonight.
10:44 I think there's been opportunities where he needs to go for it.
10:48 And almost halfway through this one.
10:52 Still plenty of time.
10:55 There's always time in the big boy division, Brett.
10:57 It is.
10:59 There's always time.
11:00 We've seen these type of fights where you sort of sense that it's not going to come.
11:06 And probably more so on the Lewis Clark, more upside to him in this fight.
11:12 Yeah, he only needs to throw a couple of good body shots and that head will fall.
11:16 The jab, it is adding up.
11:20 Because you can see the marks on the face of Ranjeet Singh.
11:24 It's starting to bother him a little bit.
11:27 And that's the volume of accumulation over three rounds of work.
11:31 And I just find it, as I said, we've sort of seen it a few times tonight earlier on in the fight.
11:35 But Lewis seems a little bit disappointed in himself.
11:38 But he's not boxing poorly.
11:40 It's just that's the fight.
11:42 It doesn't always go your way.
11:43 It doesn't go how it goes in training.
11:46 It's never always your way in boxing.
11:48 This isn't tennis, Brett.
11:50 I'll say it for the viewers at home.
11:51 I like it when you say it.
11:53 This is boxing.
11:54 You might be in control of the fight like what we saw in our previous fight.
11:58 Let's just say for the sake of the argument that Milan was losing that round.
12:00 One punch changes that fight.
12:02 And you've got to find a way.
12:04 And at the moment, as you said, Lewis is still a young fighter.
12:06 He's against inexperienced opponents.
12:08 He's finding a way.
12:10 He's boxing well.
12:11 But for me, he follows in his corner.
12:13 I'll be imploring him to follow up with your punches after you land the jab.
12:17 Don't just hit your jab and be happy.
12:18 Don't hit your jab and be content with that one punch.
12:21 Follow it up.
12:22 And then it comes back to have you done it in training.
12:24 Because if you haven't done it in training, you're not going to be able to do it in the bright light.
12:27 Muhammad Ali said it best.
12:28 It's what you do in the darkness that brings you into the light.
12:31 In round four.
12:35 And both fighters are still moving around quite nicely.
12:41 Oh, that's a nice punch there on the inside by Clark.
12:44 Yeah.
12:50 See, again, I'm trying to lead with those uppercuts.
12:52 And I don't like that from them.
12:54 So I want to see the jab first.
12:56 You see it starting to wear down on Singh now.
13:01 Lewis Clark has called him into the ropes.
13:02 And then Ranjit Singh goes out on the other side.
13:04 I don't see that too often.
13:05 That's it. You come to me.
13:06 It's like they're going to meet in the middle then.
13:08 Yeah.
13:09 Annette...
13:10 I was trying to think who would that advantage for.
13:15 But stalemate, we'll call that.
13:18 You don't see that too often.
13:20 I sent to Tame and he stood on the ropes and said come to me.
13:22 And so he said, no, I'll go to these ropes and you come to me.
13:25 And it worked.
13:26 He said, OK, I'll come to you then.
13:28 But he wanted to sort of get some work done on the ropes.
13:32 But it ends up in the middle.
13:36 Oh, there's a nice right to the body.
13:40 See, after the jab, Brett.
13:42 And that's when you can start to follow up with the punches.
13:45 Nice overhand right by Singh.
13:48 And he said look for that power shot.
13:52 He's trying for the left then.
13:54 Wild left and...
13:56 Tries a little bit of a shoulder push.
14:00 Clark on Singh then.
14:02 But again, you're talking about Singh who's had 12 fights,
14:09 12 professional fights.
14:10 And Clark is in his fifth fight tonight.
14:14 All at Thunderdome as well.
14:16 So that leaves experience.
14:17 So when you've got a platform like Dragonfire Boxing,
14:20 you take those opportunities.
14:22 And that's, again, a wealth of experience rather than fighting
14:25 on such another lot smaller show.
14:29 Yeah.
14:30 And the big crowd here, they're getting antsy.
14:33 You can see a lot of nails.
14:34 They're thinking that there's just one punch to come in this fight
14:38 that's going to change everything.
14:41 Again, we've seen Singh throw the left hook.
14:44 Nothing much has landed from the left.
14:46 The only success is it sort of had us on the right.
14:49 A little bit of a dance in the ring.
14:51 It's not dancing with the stars.
14:53 It's boxing.
14:54 As you said, this is boxing.
14:56 Yeah, well, things change.
14:59 As I said, people put the bodies on the line, lives on the line
15:02 when they're in the ring there.
15:03 So that's all fighters need to respect.
15:06 But as I said, Lewis is controlling the fight.
15:09 Singh hasn't really found any answers to the questions.
15:12 He's just not jabbing his way in,
15:14 and he's not pressuring enough to get his way in.
15:16 And Lewis is able to just sit here on the outside
15:19 and just pop off jabs.
15:20 You can see the damage underneath, especially the right eye,
15:23 mouse forming under the right eye of Ranjeet Singh.
15:27 Left is getting a little bit puffy as well,
15:29 but probably more on the right side.
15:30 That's just the jabs that are just adding up.
15:34 But again, I agree with you, Paul.
15:36 I'd like to see a bit of a follow-up.
15:38 There's been opportunities there where he could have followed up
15:40 and possibly could have put him out there a little bit earlier.
15:42 He's had to stop.
15:44 So, uh...
15:45 That's the job of a corner.
15:47 You know, for the viewers that are watching at home,
15:50 we can sit here and say what we're saying from here.
15:53 It's so much harder to see on the inside of the ring.
15:55 And that's why a good corner, you know,
15:57 probably for me the best in Australia, H-end of fighter.
16:01 He sees the jab, he sees the fight.
16:04 And you hear his instructions for both Maloney brothers,
16:07 you hear the instructions, and it's exactly what you see.
16:10 And they follow it, and that's why they're successful.
16:13 You've got to have a coach that can see the fight,
16:16 see the holes, see the openings, see where it's going.
16:18 And for me, what I'm seeing exactly, look,
16:20 when he's boxing and following up with his jab with other punches,
16:23 he looks really good.
16:25 But when he just throws the one punch,
16:27 it turns into just a stalemate,
16:29 and Singh's able to read the punches.
16:30 And the same with Singh.
16:31 If I was him in the corner, I'd be saying,
16:33 "Mate, you've got to work your way on the inside.
16:34 "You've got to try and throw some jabs.
16:36 "Move your head, duck and weave, get underneath."
16:38 And when you're in here, don't put your hands up.
16:40 You've got to let him go.
16:41 Because that's where he wants the fight.
16:43 So you can't just let the ref break you.
16:45 You've got to say, "Mate, when you get in there,
16:47 "you put your bite down on your mouth guard
16:48 "and start throwing punches.
16:49 "Work the body."
16:52 Yeah, there's been opportunities to do that, it's well said.
16:54 And a big shout-out to Angelo Hyder.
16:56 As we say, "Jab, jab."
16:58 Nice body shot there by Lewis Clark.
17:00 Oh, you see, there's the danger that Singh can possess.
17:05 And he hasn't been stopped many times in his career as well,
17:08 over his 12 fights.
17:10 A couple of times he's been stopped.
17:12 Yeah, three times.
17:13 Three times.
17:20 And here you're happy because Lewis has gone back to the Southpaw.
17:23 Yeah.
17:24 Whereas he had some success before.
17:25 And I said that in his swap career.
17:27 That was the surprising part.
17:29 I think the opportunities have been there
17:30 in his normal orthodox stance.
17:32 But I think you said it best.
17:35 I think there's been opportunities there.
17:37 I mean, also the uppercut.
17:40 I think there's been opportunities for him to throw the uppercut as well.
17:45 Ginsberg Elodi is having a word to--
17:47 He hasn't given a warning, but he's taken a point.
17:49 He's taken a point away.
17:50 Maybe he did see the warning.
17:52 There wasn't a warning.
17:53 No.
17:55 But the point's taken away, which is obviously--
17:57 I don't think it would do too much as far as the scorecard is concerned.
17:59 But it's definitely led to some action.
18:03 Yeah.
18:04 Maybe did us a favor.
18:08 The crowd get into it after that.
18:17 There was a bit of action there after that point got taken away.
18:20 So, again, I think it did us a favor.
18:23 Yeah.
18:24 Maybe take another point of success.
18:25 Maybe take another point.
18:31 You can see, Singh's game.
18:32 He's just not--he's in the same boat.
18:34 We're not--as you said, when they get in here,
18:37 this is where he's got to let his hands go for him, for his game plan.
18:41 He's not doing anything here on the outside.
18:44 So when he's getting on the inside, it just amazes me that his corner's not saying,
18:47 "Mate, start punching."
18:53 So 30 seconds left in round number five, scheduled for six.
18:58 Bit of a head crush there.
19:01 I think that, again, even though he's not hanging on,
19:04 he's forcing himself basically where he wants Vince to separate them.
19:20 That's a nice end to round five.
19:23 Head to a sixth and final round.
19:33 Jabs have been thrown, but not one of those landed then.
19:36 So sixth and final round coming up.
19:44 Shout out to Philippa Jane, Amy, and Alyssa.
19:48 Welcome to Amy and Alyssa to Dragonfire Boxing Team.
19:51 Doing a fantastic job.
19:53 Now experience Philippa Jane.
19:56 Look at some of the replays from round five.
20:02 Again, I think it's probably good for Lewis Clark to get some rounds in,
20:07 but I think he's had some opportunities where Singh has left himself open
20:12 for either the uppercut or follow-up after the jab,
20:14 as you've been saying for a majority of the five rounds, Paul.
20:17 Yeah, it's just, like you said, it's one of the hard parts about,
20:21 you know, when you're sparring with the fighters out there,
20:24 you've got to replicate it in sparring.
20:26 If you don't replicate it in sparring, when you get into the fight,
20:29 you can't just turn it on.
20:31 So in sparring, most of the time when people go to different gyms,
20:35 they just want to practice the same stuff.
20:36 But sometimes you want to, you know, practice getting beat up
20:39 and let the people do things.
20:40 Just practice one punch, and then once you get mastered that,
20:43 then you can start to add that on, and that's what builds the puzzle.
20:46 But you can see, as you said, every time Lewis has started with a punch
20:51 other than a jab, he hasn't been successful tonight.
20:53 So the corner's got to then implore him in the breaks,
20:56 when you're sitting down, Brett, to say exactly that.
21:00 You've got to jab first, and then you'll land your punch,
21:03 and then follow-up.
21:04 And the same as Singh has said for this round, he knows he needs a knockout.
21:07 He's got to start letting his punches go.
21:09 He can't just sit there, hope for a one or two, and maybe in here.
21:12 He's got to work right now.
21:13 There's no need for the referee to break him because they're not holding.
21:16 He can get his hands for him, punch.
21:18 He's just got to let him go.
21:21 And I want to see what Ranjit Singh's got left in this sixth and final round
21:25 because he said he told us to look out for that big right hand.
21:29 We've seen it a couple of times thrown throughout the fight,
21:31 but nowhere near enough as far as needed to get the job done.
21:36 The irony about Ranjit Singh is that he's never lost outside of his native India.
21:40 Sorry, he's only lost outside of his native India.
21:43 He's never lost inside.
21:45 So he might be a different fighter.
21:48 But, yeah, the wear and tear is showing on his face now, and it's all been the jab.
21:54 Yeah.
22:00 He's going to take another point away.
22:04 I think that he's going to take another point away.
22:06 This might be a good thing for us, Brett.
22:08 Yeah, he's going to wake up.
22:09 I think that's going to be a great thing.
22:11 Watch Ranjit Singh here.
22:16 He's going to go at it now.
22:21 Lewis Clark acknowledging his supporters in the crowd.
22:24 But it's Lewis Clark that goes after Ranjit Singh,
22:26 but he just might have nothing left in the gas tank.
22:30 I just hope that he doesn't try and wrestle now.
22:33 I think he almost did.
22:38 And to be honest, it's not -- I don't think -- I mean, look, the first point taken,
22:42 I think he's a bit rough even, that one.
22:44 But at the end of the day, he's not -- it's not -- it's the style of the fight.
22:50 Because Lewis, they're just throwing the ones and two punches.
22:53 They're getting stuck in this tangled situation.
22:56 And that's where, if I was a ref, I'd be imploring them to fight their way out of there.
23:01 Don't let me do the job.
23:02 You do the job.
23:03 You're here to fight.
23:04 So here in that situation, yeah, that's not a hold.
23:07 The ref's got to come in and break it.
23:08 But when they're just in, they'll be saying to the fighters, "Fight your way out of it."
23:14 Couldn't agree more.
23:15 It's the final stages of this one.
23:17 Final ten seconds.
23:26 I think that we're going to the judges' scorecards, Paul.
23:29 And I think that it's going to be pretty easy to tell who won this fight.
23:36 Yeah.
23:37 And you know what?
23:38 Valuable round for Lewis.
23:39 At the end of the day, as you said, young fighter, going the distance, six rounds, back in action after he binges on the loss.
23:46 And it's another shot.
23:49 And he moves on, and again, 11 months out of the ring.
23:51 And then he gets in, and he'll get the job done tonight.
23:55 Yep.
23:56 So he's looking out over there.
23:59 Can't be upset.
24:00 You've got to take the wins with the wins.
24:01 Yeah.
24:02 Take the win and come back better.
