The filmmaker is known for his strong voice against caste based oppression, a recurrent theme in his artworks. Even in 'Thangalaan' there's an element of caste, while it touches upon Buddhism as well. The director spoke with IANS, and shared that the social structure of India which is deeply entrenched in Politics gives no choice to the artistes except to be political. He told IANS,“For me, everything is political. In India, the whole system is based on politics. We need to understand that we follow indifference given the caste system, and the class system. We are a country which follows customs and rituals under a hierarchy”. He further mentioned that we as Indians are very much separated about our thoughts, religious things and caste. In that sense, every single entity is washed by the sands of time. The Hindi version of 'Thangalaan', produced by Studio Green is currently playing in theatres.

00:00Political, so it is not a different, it's not far from political. We need to understand
00:11we are like under the system, we have a very much follower of indifference. We have a caste
00:20system, we have a class system, we are the one very important country who is following
00:27ritual and customs under that hierarchy and like, yeah, we are very polluted. We need
00:32to understand first what we are right now. In like period of period, you know, we just
00:40following one people under that very low and like, you know, we have a follower graders
00:48and like one grader and another grader, you cannot jump and like if you go jump, you know,
00:55like, yeah, we need to understand, we need to accept, we are very much separated about
01:02our thoughts and religious things and like caste. So, that is why if you go touch anything,
01:13it is there some story about in like kind of any political things you can connect. The
01:21story, the tree is not only tree, yeah, in every village has some tree, but tree has
01:27a lot of stories. If you go and touch that root and you can try to, yeah, it's true.
01:40I cannot see only tree, I cannot see only the villages like mud and like, yeah, every
01:45mud soil and like, yeah, and there are a lot of stories begin that and like. So, that
01:52is why in my all farmers, farmers art mediums. So, I'm trying to bring what I want, what
02:01I want to tell to the people, how people suffered by that any form of differentiates a different
02:08thing. So, in my through my art, if I'm going to drawing, if I'm going to speak, if I'm
02:14going to sing, if I'm going to do a movie and if I'm going to write, definitely it's
02:20that will be kind of a political statement. I don't want to be like a preacher, like I
02:27don't want to be like a canvassing only words. I just want to give like notes, art material,
02:35that should be like a man, people, art, art only, like we can easily, we can connect and
02:44emote and like we'll cry and without knowing anything, we just, we can, we can hear any
02:52song, no, it'll touch art. You can go see any movie, no, easily in touch or art and
02:58like you can emote easily. So, art, how important we need to understand and especially the cinema,
03:05no, how important we need to understand that cinema produce not only stories, cinema produce,
03:11reproduce our values, our beliefs and cultures. So, we need to very careful about that, that
03:18medium. So, I'm very care about that, what I use through the, I use the cinema medium.
03:26So, that is why I wanted to educate. First, I wanted to educate myself, then what I educate,
03:35what I learned from that society, what I'll get from that things, I wanted to give back to the
03:41society through my art.
