00:00It's a big birthday for a popular Sheffield restaurant this year, and star readers have already handed it an early present.
00:06Sety Collie in Hillsborough is 21 in December, and it's just won a star social media poll to find the city restaurants everyone should try at least once.
00:14We asked owner Paolo Amarell the secret of its success.
00:18We're ready for over 20 years. This year will be the 21st year in December.
00:24And what do you think people like so much about your venue?
00:28I think it's a bit of everything. It's a bit traditional. It's been here a long time. It's a bit of good service, good food.
00:35People feel comfortable. It's like they take you back when you go on holiday, perhaps.
00:40I think it's a combination of many factors, the staff and the food and the place.
00:48Could you tell me what the most popular dishes are here at Sety Collie?
00:51Probably the most popular dishes are the steaks, and the calzone is very, very popular with the men, because it's nice and it's quite big.
00:59But also the pastas. A little bit of everything, I think.
01:03And what about the Mexican stuff? Is that popular as well?
01:05The Mexican stuff, yeah, it's also very popular. The fetas are extremely popular, and also the burritos there are popular, and also the enchiladas.
01:14Have you had a lot of customers that have been coming back for years?
01:17Yeah, some of the customers have been coming from day one. Some of the customers have been coming for the last 10, 15 years.
01:23And we're always gaining some new customers as well. Some new ones and some old ones.
01:28It's a mixture of everything, but we have a lot of customers that keep coming for the last 20 years.
01:33And how do you feel about being described as the venue that people need to visit in Sheffield?
01:40Well, it's always good to be recognised, but we try to please everybody. We try to give good food, good service.
01:47And at the end of the day, it's about the customers being happy, and the customers are the ones who voted for us.
01:55And I'm extremely grateful for that.
01:57And I understand you've won some awards in the Star in the past as well.
02:00Yes, we've won a few. Probably the most famous one was the Best Italian Restaurant in 2018.
02:08I think it was the last time they ran that competition, when people actually physically voted.
02:13And that was really, really nice. It came as a surprise for us, because there were some really good Italian restaurants at the time.
02:20And I was extremely pleased with that.
