00:00Hello, I'm Lisa from The Well. I'm here to tell you about some of my gear. We're at Empty
00:17Bottle here in Chicago, so let's check it out. Alright, first off, this beast of a
00:25Rickenbacker bass. She has recently come back into rotation. This is my first bass
00:34that I purchased. It's a 1981 and has definitely seen some action. 4001. I also
00:44have been playing an SG at home, but recently playing around, writing stuff at
00:52home. I brought back the old Rick and she said she wouldn't come out of retirement,
00:57so she's on this tour with me. I have Rio Grande pickups in this that were made
01:04custom for me to emulate kind of that humbucker feel, but still have the
01:12Rickenbacker sound. For strings, I have the Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky. These were
01:23actually given to me during South By this year, so a little rep action, which
01:29we also do use the Black Harbor strings, but I wanted to try these out to see how
01:36they roll, and so far, so good. Usually, I am split between both the neck and the
01:43bridge pickup just to get that articulation, but then the big, beefy
01:49bottom end that that humbucker Rio Grande will give me. I'm pretty much
01:54dialed. I will, this, some of my tones will be and volume will be adjusted during the
02:03set on a need basis, but volume is usually all the way up because we like
02:08to play loud, get that full body sound. So, I'm also tuned to C sharp standard. We
02:17have done a full C standard in the past, but recently, I've moved it up. We started
02:25off playing in D standard and then went all the way down to C on our last
02:30record, and then recently have started moving things up to C sharp, which it's
02:37just fun to play around with how that changes the dynamic of the song, and it
02:42makes us write a little bit differently, so we're constantly adjusting that as we
02:49feel inspired. Yeah, so with this pedal board, I am clean and mean. I have my Cry
02:58Baby Wah, my Fuzz War Death by Audio. This is the Russian Big Muff Reissue, and then
03:08my tuner pedal with its beautiful jewels. Usually, I'm switching between these two
03:15fuzzes. This one I have set up for more of a bassy, sustained fuzz, and then this
03:25one with the tone knob, you can get a lot brighter, and it just has a little bit
03:32more grit, I'm finding, plus anyone who's used one of these just knows that they
03:36are pretty spectacular for that, like, aggressive, attacking fuzz. My wah, I keep
03:46dialed, and I like to do, like, a big sweep with it, and then a little bit of that
03:52nice, watery, subtle wah on the top of the bass. Tune, and my pretty little Curly
04:02Boy. This is a gift. Whenever my last chord went out, shout out Valhalla Cinema
04:11on Instagram for the beautiful purple coiled cable here. But yeah, I'm keeping it
04:18pretty simple. For my amp center inside, I primarily use the SVT Classic. I have a
04:2590s SVT that I use on the tour, and then at home I have a 1972 that was
04:33originally the Flesh Eaters that was on, like, the Return of the Living Dead
04:39soundtrack. That one is now staying at home. He doesn't like to go on the road
04:44anymore, but pretty wonderful for the studio. And then I always bring a backup,
04:49which is my Dart Glass. I have the micro tubes, 500 watt, and it is, like, its own
04:58thing, like, in a little lunchbox size. Like, it's pretty wonderful, especially
05:04for whenever we do European tours and stuff. I can bring it literally in my
05:09luggage to fly with, and it is about this close to matching the barrage of
05:19sound that that SVT that everybody knows and loves brings to the table. So she's
05:26always waiting in the wings to swoop in and help me out whenever my SVT tube amp
05:31decides that it wants to take a night off. All right, so we are currently on
05:35tour. That is usually the case. We like to hit the road as much as possible. As
05:40soon as we get home from this run, we're going into the studio to finish up our
05:45next record, which should be coming out in 2025. Yeah, if you want to follow along,
05:50we're The Well Band on Instagram, Facebook, all the socials. Keep up with
05:55the ride. I don't know. Roll with us. I don't know if it's short.
