00:00Labour Party Presidential Candidate in the last General Elections in Nigeria, Peter Obi
00:05may have recorded the highest views on his ex-social media account in recent years after
00:10he tweeted on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, making an amendment to his earlier post he
00:16issued to condemn a Canadian-based woman, Amaka Pesha Nsonbaga, who on TikTok had called
00:22for the killing of people from two ethnic groups in Nigeria.
00:26The post, as at Friday evening when we visited Peter Obi's social media page, has generated
00:32over 2.2 million views, surpassing the views of every other post Peter Obi had posted in
00:38recent time.
00:40According to Peter Obi, based on the information or reactions he got from people, that Amaka
00:46Pesha Nsonbaga made the ethnic genocidal statement in reaction to the earlier hateful speech
00:52made against the people of Amaka tribe.
00:55While some Nigerians took to the comments section of the post to commend Peter Obi for
01:00reversing himself, many others condemned the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Peter
01:05Obi for trying to play the victim role for Amaka Nsonbaga whom the said is the aggressor
01:10of such genocidal statement or the first person to start asking his people to start killing
01:15people of two other tribes in Nigeria with poison.
01:19Peter Obi did not state he decided to reverse himself on the basis of his own investigation
01:25but he said he did the reversal based on reactions from people.
01:30There are concerns that there are many group of terrorists trying to cause ethnic war in
01:34Nigeria.
01:35The terrorists, according to Intelligent Gathering are pretending or may actually be a member
01:41of a particular tribe in Nigeria who are deliberately making provocative and insightful statements
01:47and caricature photos of traditional rulers to instigate ethnic war in Nigeria.
01:53The status of Peter Obi's statement reads verbatim below, following my recent comment
01:58on the Nigerian woman living in Canada, who made very distasteful comments against her
02:03fellow Nigerians in Canada.
02:06While condemning such a level of tribal and religious division, I have received a barrage
02:12of reactions from people, many of whom tried to justify their actions.
02:17Some explained that her comments were in reaction to earlier hateful comments made by another
02:23Nigerian and reportedly directed at other Nigerians of the equal ethnicity which I also
02:28now condemn in the strongest terms.
02:31As I mentioned then, and still maintain now, tribal tension and religious division must
02:37not be allowed to grow among us.
02:40Such divisive and hateful comments and behaviors against one another should have no place among
02:45us.
02:47We must remain one united nation, focused on solving the myriads of challenges facing
02:52us as a nation.
02:54We must unite against the further polarization of our nation along tribal, religious and
03:00political lines, and focus on finding lasting solutions to the challenges of high insecurity,
03:06unbearable high cost of living and leadership failure that has continued to weigh us down.
03:12With faith in our nation, may we embrace unity and peace, so that we can achieve true progress,
03:18growth and development in our nation.
03:21On one united and peaceful nation, shall the new Nigeria stand?
03:27It is possible.
03:28We had earlier reported that the former presidential candidates of Labour Party, LP and People's
03:34Democratic Party, PDP, Peter Obi and Atiko Abubakar on last week Friday issued a separate
03:41statement to warn Nigerians abroad to stop making negative tribal statements after Simon
03:46Epa, the Prime Minister of Biafra government in exile declared and showcased the anticipated
03:5140 states of Biafra that cut across the ancestral land of some tribes in Nigeria.
03:57Since August 20, 2024 when Simon Epa named the 40 states of the expected Biafra Republic,
04:04many Nigerians abroad have taken to social media platforms to discuss their place of
04:10origin most especially the Ika speaking people, Igbo people and the people of Benin in a hateful,
04:17insightful and derogatory manner capable of turning the agitation for the declaration
04:21of Biafra Republic into an ethnic war as Simon Epa declared three local government areas
04:27of the present-day Edo state that have some areas as Ika speaking people as Biafra land.
04:33Prior to the declaration by Simon Epa, some group of people on 15th day of August 2024
04:41organized a sparse audio meeting on ex-social media platform.
04:46The group during the program displayed a caricature photos of the Oba of Benin and
04:51made a lot of derogatory and insightful statements against the Oba of Benin.
04:56While many Edo people believed the group were enemies who may have a motive to cause ethnic
05:01crisis between Benin and Igbo people, Simon Epa few days after named part of Edo South,
05:08obviously the entire Edo Central and Edo North senatorial zones of Edo state as Biafra land.
05:15Thereafter, the social media media were moved to TikTok where many Nigerians abroad have
05:20been organizing live meetings full of hate speech, threats to life, abusive and insightful
05:26statements.
05:27Historians agreed that the present-day Edo state was formerly by origin known as Edoland,
05:34later changed to Egudu, thereafter changed to Egudubigudu before it was currently renamed
05:39and known as Edo or Benin.
05:42Some historians also agreed that the then Bendel province was created in 1963 from the
05:47western region of Benin and Delta provinces because of the closer cultural and ethnic
05:52ties the people of the two provinces have.
05:56Likely most of the people in the two provinces are indigenous people of one family which
06:00was politically created and renamed as Bendel state in 1976 and Edo and Delta states in
06:071991 in order to have a fair share in federal allocation as some other regions in Nigeria
06:13had since divided into states and as such were having bigger share in federal allocations.
06:19As in most parts of the Delta state, the majority of the clans of Ika nation claim to have migrated
06:26from the ancient Benin empire between the 12th and 14th centuries AD in various ways.
06:32The first world is believed to have been headed by a man called Eka and the land he
06:37settled in was called Ika land.
06:40The Ika people are an Igboid group found primarily in Delta state Nigeria and Edo state, Nigeria.
06:47The Ika people have just two local governments, Ika South and Ika North East local government
06:53areas of Delta state, and Igbanke and Ekon areas of Ohiomwon, Wonwon and Igwebin local
07:00government areas in Edo state.
07:03They speak Ika, a dialect of the Igbo language, some of the historians stated.
07:09Peter Obiwai, condemning the utterances of some Nigerians abroad, said, I utterly condemn
07:15the reported hateful statements and actions attributed to a Nigerian woman living in Canada
07:21against other Nigerians of diverse origins.
07:25Such divisive comments or behavior have no place in our society.
07:29As Nigerians, we should unite and focus on addressing our shared challenges rather than
07:35allowing tribalism and hate to tear us apart.
07:39I have consistently stood against the polarization of our country along tribal, religious or
07:45political lines.
07:47What does a nation achieve through tribal or religious bigotry?
07:51Does it contribute positively to development by fixing our numerous health, education challenges
07:58and pulling people out of poverty?
08:01Does it reduce the price of bread, rice, dairy or yam in the market?
08:07Does it improve our transportation system or enhance the electricity supply?
08:12Does it ensure good governance?
08:15The answer is a resounding no.
08:17Our priority should be to move Nigeria forward, regardless of tribe or religion.
08:23We, as Nigerians, must live together in peace and love, and ensure that we enthrone leaders
08:29based on integrity, competence, consistency, capacity, character and compassion, so as
08:37to overcome our present challenges and move the country forward in the right direction.
08:43Let us focus on what truly matters, building a prosperous, united and equitable Nigeria
08:50for all.
08:51We must reject tribalism and religious division, and embrace our shared humanity, working together
08:58towards a new Nigeria that is possible.
09:01Hatiko Abubaka, while also condemning the utterances of the Nigerian abroad, said as
09:07quoted that, the contentious virtual chatroom clip, wherein participants met threats of
09:13ethnic cleansing against the Yorubas and Benin people, is unequivocally condemned in all
09:18aspects.
09:19I am informed that the identities of those involved have been disclosed and that calls
09:24have been made to the pertinent law enforcement agencies in Canada to prosecute the offenders.
09:31In this regard, I commend the House of Representatives and the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission for
09:37their prompt and decisive action in addressing this incendiary rhetoric and pre-empting further
09:42escalation.
09:44This disconcerting episode underscores, once again, the imperative of uniting our people
09:50and our nation.
09:52Our rich diversity is our most cherished national asset and must be vigilantly protected.
09:58Some media reported that the woman, who led the call in a TikTok live meeting video making
10:04the rounds on social media, that vowed to start poisoning foods and waters of Yoruba
10:09and Benin people at her place of work have deleted her TikTok account and said Canada
10:14government cannot depot her to Nigeria because she has a Canadian citizenship passport.
10:20Simon Epa, while reacting to the call for her arrest, said, the leadership of pro-Biafran
10:26group, Biafra Republic Government in Exile, BRGIE, has expressed interest to wade into
10:33the matter between Nigerian authority and the Canada-based Nigerian woman, Amaka Peshan
10:38Sombaga whose utterances went viral for threatening to harm Yoruba and Edo people.
10:44While referring to article Abubakar, Simon Epa said, look at this criminal who could
10:50not condemn the killing of innocent Deborah.
10:53Just don't step your foot on Biafra soil until Biafra becomes an independent state.
10:59The Biafra government will defend Amaka against any action taken by the Nigeria terrorist
11:04state.
11:05We equally call on Amaka to immediately contact the Biafra liaison in Canada or anyone with
11:11her contact should contact the Biafra government or myself directly.
11:15Tag Amaka.
11:17We need her contact immediately.
11:19She must not panic for any reason.
11:22The Canada-based woman asked people of the southeast region of Nigeria, popularly known
11:27as Igbos to develop a weakened heart and start poisoning Yorubas of the southwest and
11:32Benins of the south-south by poisoning their foods and waters anywhere they see them.
11:38Speaking in pidgin language, the woman said, record me very very well.
11:44It is time to start poisoning the Yorubas and the Benins.
11:48Put poison in all your foods at work.
11:51Put poison in all your water so that you all will start dying one by one.
11:56You people will not die one day.
11:58You people will fall sick for a long time.
12:01I will put otapiapia, rat poison, inside your waters and foods.
12:07You people will never get well.
12:09This kind of hatred I have for you people will last forever.
12:13In all your foods, I will put otapiapia, as others at the meeting reminded her of other
12:19poisons including eat and die, sniper.
12:23She continued, I will put them in all your foods.
12:27If I go to work tomorrow, I will put it poison in Yoruba people's food.
12:33Go and tell the government that I'm in Canada, I'm in Ontario.
12:38Hurry up, go fast.
12:40I will put otapiapia, I will put obumasho inside your foods.
12:45You will start hearing that Yorubas have died, Benins have died.
12:50I'm the one saying it.
12:52I want Igbos to have a heart of wickedness.
12:55You people are too quiet, you are too cool, enough is enough.
13:00If you have a means of killing them, kill them out of the way, because they are too
13:05foolish.
13:06They are of no use to society, lots of prostitutes and everything.
13:12Earlier in the month, we had reported that one of the leaders for the agitation and declaration
13:17of Biafra Republic from Nigeria and the Prime Minister of Biafra Government in exile, Simon
13:23Epa, on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, in a video broadcast released the map of the proposed
13:2840 states of Biafra Republic with the declaration and naming of Ekpuma, Auchi and Eo communities
13:34which are the administrative headquarters of Essam West, Esako West, and Ngumuon Local
13:39Government areas of Edo State as Biafra land.
13:42Many historians have agreed that Igbo-speaking people dominant in some few communities in
13:47Edo State were brought into the communities like Igbanke community often described as
13:52Igbo-Akiri, by the detained leader of indigenous people of Biafra, Ipob, Ndandi Kanu as slaves
13:59by Beni slave raiders, meaning the lands were probably already the ancestral home of Edo
14:05people before the 15th-16th centuries when Beni slave raiders brought in people from
14:11afar to the border towns.
14:13Ndandi Kanu in an online interview conducted by Dele Momodu, the founder of Oversion magazine,
14:20years ago before his rearrest by Nigeria's security operatives said Biafra land starts
14:25and ends where women tie two pieces of rapa.
14:28Ndandi Kanu refused to be specific about the map of the proposed Biafra land as requested
14:34by the journalist, Dele Momodu, but insisted that Biafra land cut across 13 states in Nigeria
14:40with specific mentioning of Edo State, Benue State, Kogi State amongst others.
14:47Simon Ecker while unveiling the proposed map of the Biafra Republic said, December 2, 2024
14:54have been fixed for referendum, adding that after the referendum, there may be more years
15:00of battle before the actualization of the Biafra Republic.
15:04In the map and listing of the 40 states of the proposed Biafra Republic, Simon Ecker
15:09named the states, capital cities and former Nigeria states where the Biafra territories
15:15were created from as follow.
15:1740 United States of Biafra, State, Capital, Former State, 1 Aba, Aba, Abia, 2 Adoka, Konchisha,
15:28Lower Benue, 3 Afemwa Igodumigodu, Auchi, Edo, 4 Ambo, Ambo, Delta, 5 Ahoda, Ahoda,
15:38Rivas, 6 Apakiforo, Oron, Akwa Ibo, 7 Alansu, Nsukka, Enugu, 8 Alodu, Ombasi, Ngunu, Abia,
15:509 Anyoma, Asaba, Delta, 10 Branem, Wabis, Bayelsa, 11 Kalaba, Kalaba, Cross River,
15:5912 Ibonyi, Abakaliki, Ibonyi, 13 Ebube, Ebube, 14 Eda, Ekoli, Ibonyi, 15 Enugu, Enugu, Enugu,
16:1116 Epi, Yenabua, Bayelsa, 17 Esan Igodumigodu, Ekpuma, Edo, 18 Ezayani, Ugocha, Enugu, 19
16:23Aydin Igodumigodu, Eo, Edo, 20 Idun Ibon, Uyo, Akwa Ibon, 21 Igala, Epa, Kogi, 22 Ibonyi, Boni,
16:35Bayelsa, 23 Ikemba, Oka, Anambra, 24 Ikom, Obubra, Boje, Cross River, 25 Ikumizia, Umuahia,
16:47Abia, 26 Itai, Ikotepene, Akwa Ibon, 27 Iweri, Sapele, Delta, 28 Wanroha, Igwecha, Rivers,
16:5929 Odumegu, Uga, Anambra, 30 Ogbea Izon, Ogbea, Bayelsa, 31 Ogoja, Obudu, Cross River,
17:1032 Ohabunyi, Inbanatu, Enugu, 33 Ohauku, Ezambo, Ibonyi, 34 Okigwe, Okigwe, Imo, 35 Omambala,

17:36Atlantic, Saguama, Bayelsa, 40 Orobo Isuku, Ugeni, Delta. That aside, on June 5, 2017,
17:46a student historian, simply identified as a Moribe, posted a research project he conducted
17:53on the topic, the origin of Igbanke people in Edo State, on Nyarland and part of the historical
17:59study reads thus, Igbanke is located in Ohiomwon local government area, Edo State. Igbanke,
18:08by name is in Ohiomwon local government area, but geographically, we do not share common
18:14boundary with any community in the council. From the eastern flank, Igbanke shares common
18:21boundary with Ambere, an Ika-speaking community in Delta State. From west, it's bounded by Ogada,
18:29another Ika-speaking community in Ohiomwon local government area in Edo State. In the northern
18:35sphere, Igbanke has boundary with Epon, Ika-speaking community in Igwebin local government
18:42area while from the south, it has Amwo and Ozanlogogu, Ika communities in Delta State as
18:48neighbors. Igbanke is in Edo South Senatorial District. Igbanke people and community came
18:55under the Beni Empire during the latter's expansionist program. Most of other Ika-speaking
19:01communities that were conquered by Beni Empire same time with Igbanke have gotten their independence
19:06in Delta State while Igbanke, Ogada, Otobaye, Irung, Epon and Omeka etc. are selfishly scattered
19:14in three local government areas. Another historian posted as documented by Wikipedia that,
19:21Igbanke consists of six villages which came together from the earliest times preceding the
19:27slave trade era. The people of Idumodile, Ake, Omoluwa, Olegi, Ota and Iguanto are the villages
19:35that came together to establish their settlement which over the years has been referred to as
19:40Igbanke. Wikipedia captured another historian saying, the modern borders of Edo State encompasses
19:48regions that were formerly the site of various empires and kingdoms of the second dynasty formed
19:53in the 11th century AD, the Benin Empire. Adding, Edo State borders Kogi State to the north for 133
20:02kilometers and across the Niger River for 81 kilometers to the northeast. Anangwa State to
20:08the east for about 4 kilometers across the Niger River. Delta State to the southeast and south for
20:14350 kilometers, 218 miles and Odo State to the west. Simon Epper said, December 2nd, 2024 is the
20:24date to present its 14 United States of Biafra map and issue a declaration. According to him,
20:31this move is to further consolidate the actualization of Biafra's independence.
20:37The Biafra government is presenting the complete map of Biafra in preparation for the 2nd of
20:42December 2024, he stated. There are reports that Epper recently engaged former United States
20:50lawmaker and lobbyist, James Moran, to help convince the U.S. government to support Biafra's
20:56cessation from Nigeria.
