00:00Former Presidential Candidates of Labour Party, LP and People's Democratic Party, PDP, Peta
00:07Obi and Atiko Ogubaka on Friday issued a separate statement to warn Nigerians abroad to stop
00:13making negative tribal statements after Saibole Epa, the Prime Minister of Biafra government
00:19in exile declared and showcased the anticipated 40 states of Biafra that cut across the ancestral
00:25land of some tribes in Nigeria.
00:28Since August 20, 2024 when Simon Epa named the 40 states of the expected Biafra Republic,
00:35many Nigerians abroad have taken to social media platforms to discuss their place of
00:40origin most especially the Ika speaking people, Igbo people and the people of Benin in a helpful,
00:46insightful and derogatory manner capable of turning the agitation for the declaration
00:50of Biafra Republic into an ethnic war as Simon Epa declared three local government areas
00:55of the present-day Edo state that have some areas as Ika speaking people as Biafra land.
01:02Prior to the declaration by Simon Epa, some group of people on 15th day of August 2024
01:09organized a space audio meeting on its social media platform.
01:14The group during the program displayed a caricature photos of the Oba of Benin and made a lot
01:19of derogatory and insightful statements against the Oba of Benin.
01:24While many Edo people believed the group were enemies who may have a motive to cause
01:29ethnic crisis between Benin and Igbo people, Simon Epa few days after, named part of Edo
01:36South, obviously the entire Edo Central and Edo North senatorial zones of Edo state as
01:41Biafra land.
01:42Thereafter, the social media media were moved to TikTok where many Nigerians abroad have
01:48been organizing live meetings full of hate speech, threats to life, abusive and insightful
01:54statements.
01:56Historians agreed that the present-day Edo state was formerly by origin known as Edoland,
02:02later changed to Egudu, thereafter changed to Egudumigudu before it was currently renamed
02:07and known as Edo or Benin.
02:10Some historians also agreed that the then Benin province was created in 1963 from the
02:15western region of Benin and Delta provinces because of the closer cultural and ethnic
02:20ties the people of the two provinces have.
02:24Likely most of the people in the two provinces are indigenous people of one family which
02:29was politically created and renamed as Bendel state in 1976 and Edo and Delta states in
02:351991 in order to have a fair share in federal allocation as some other regions in Nigeria
02:41had since divided into states and as such were having bigger share in federal allocations.
02:48As in most parts of the Delta state, the majority of the clans of Ika nation claim to have migrated
02:54from the ancient Benin empire between the 12th and 14th centuries AD in various ways.
03:00The first world is believed to have been headed by a man called Eka and the land he settled
03:06in was called Ika land.
03:08The Ika people are an Igboid group found primarily in Delta state Nigeria and Edo state Nigeria.
03:15The Ika people have just two local governments, Ika South and Ika North East local government
03:21areas of Delta state, and Igbanke and Epon areas of Ohiomwon, Wonwon and Igwebin local
03:28government areas in Edo state.
03:31They speak Ika, a dialect of the Igbo language, some of the historians stated.
03:37Peter Obiwai, condemning the utterances of some Nigerians abroad, said,
03:42I utterly condemn the reported hateful statements and actions attributed to a Nigerian woman
03:48living in Canada against other Nigerians of diverse origins.
03:53Such divisive comments or behavior have no place in our society.
03:57As Nigerians, we should unite and focus on addressing our shared challenges rather than
04:03allowing tribalism and hate to tear us apart.
04:07I have consistently stood against the polarization of our country along tribal, religious or
04:13political lines.
04:15What does a nation achieve through tribal or religious bigotry?
04:20Does it contribute positively to development by fixing our numerous health, education challenges
04:27and pulling people out of poverty?
04:30Does it reduce the price of bread, rice, dairy or yam in the market?
04:36Does it improve our transportation system or enhance the electricity supply?
04:41Does it ensure good governance?
04:43The answer is a resounding no.
04:46Our priority should be to move Nigeria forward, regardless of tribe or religion.
04:51We, as Nigerians, must live together in peace and love, and ensure that we enthrone leaders
04:58based on integrity, competence, consistency, capacity, character and compassion, so as
05:06to overcome our present challenges and move the country forward in the right direction.
05:11Let us focus on what truly matters, building a prosperous, united and equitable Nigeria
05:18for all.
05:20We must reject tribalism and religious division, and embrace our shared humanity, working together
05:26towards a new Nigeria that is possible.
05:29Ateko Abubakar, while also condemning the utterances of the Nigerian abroad, said as
05:35quoted that, the contentious virtual chatroom plea, wherein participants meant threats of
05:41ethnic cleansing against the Yoruba's embezzling people, is unequivocally condemned in all
05:46aspects.
05:47I am informed that the identities of those involved have been disclosed and that calls
05:53have been made to the pertinent law enforcement agencies in Canada to prosecute the offenders.
05:59In this regard, I commend the House of Representatives and the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission for
06:05their prompt and decisive action in addressing this incendiary rhetoric and preempting further
06:10escalation.
06:12This disconcerting episode underscores, once again, the imperative of uniting our people
06:18and our nation.
06:20Our rich diversity is our most cherished national asset and must be vigilantly protected.
06:26Some media reported that the woman, who led the call in a TikTok live meeting video making
06:32the rounds on social media, that vowed to start poisoning foods and waters of Yoruba
06:37and banning people at her place of work have deleted her TikTok account and said Canada
06:42government cannot depot her to Nigeria because she has a Canadian citizenship passport.
06:49Simon Epa, while reacting to the call for her arrest, said,
06:53The leadership of pro-Biafran group, Biafra Republic Government-in-Exile, BRGIE, has expressed
07:00interest to wade into the matter between Nigerian authority and the Canada-based Nigerian woman,
07:06Amaka Peshan Sombaga, whose utterances went viral for threatening to harm Yoruba and Edo
07:11people.
07:12While referring to Attiko Abubakar, Simon Epa said,
07:16Look at this criminal who could not condemn the killing of innocent Deborah.
07:22Just don't step your foot on Biafra soil until Biafra becomes an independent state.
07:28The Biafra government will defend Amaka against any action taken by the Nigeria terrorist
07:33state.
07:34We equally call on Amaka to immediately contact the Biafra liaison in Canada or anyone with
07:39her contact should contact the Biafra government or myself directly.
07:44Tag Amaka.
07:45We need her contact immediately.
07:47She must not panic for any reason.
07:50The Canada-based woman asked people of the southeast region of Nigeria, popularly known
07:56as Igbos, to develop a wicked heart and start poisoning Yorubas of the southwest and Benins
08:01of the south-south by poisoning their foods and waters anywhere they see them.
08:06Speaking in pidgin language, the woman said,
08:10Record me very very well.
08:12It is time to start poisoning the Yorubas and the Benins.
08:16Put poison in all your foods at work.
08:19Put poison in all your waters so that you all will start dying one by one.
08:24You people will not die one day.
08:27You people will fall sick for a long time.
08:29I will put otapiapia, rat poison, inside your waters and foods.
08:35You people will never get well.
08:37This kind of hatred I have for you people will last forever.
08:42In all your foods, I will put otapiapia, as others at the meeting reminded her of other
08:48poisons including eat and die, sniper.
08:51She continued, I will put them in all your foods.
08:55If I go to work tomorrow, I will put it poison in Yoruba people's food.
09:02Go and tell the government that I'm in Canada.
09:05I'm in Ontario.
09:06Hurry up.
09:07Go fast.
09:09I will put otapiapia.
09:11I will put obomosho inside your foods.
09:14You will start hearing that Yorubas have died.
09:17Benins have died.
09:19I'm the one saying it.
09:21I want Igbos to have a heart of wickedness.
09:24You people are too quiet.
09:26You are too cool.
09:27Enough is enough.
09:29If you have a means of killing them, kill them out of the way.
09:33Because they are too foolish.
09:35They are of no use to society.
09:37Lots of prostitutes and everything.
09:40Earlier in the month, we had reported that one of the leaders for the agitation and declaration
09:46of Biafra Republic from Nigeria and the Prime Minister of Biafra government in exile, Simon
09:52Epa on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 in a video broadcast released the map of the proposed
09:5740 states of Biafra Republic with the declaration and naming of Ekpuma, Auchi and Eo communities
10:02which are the administrative headquarters of Essam West, Esako West and Bohunwon local
10:07government areas of Edo state as Biafra land.
10:11Many historians have agreed that Igbo-speaking people dominant in some few communities in
10:16Edo state were brought into the communities like Igbanke community often described as
10:21Igbo-Akiri by the detained leader of indigenous people of Biafra, Ipob Nnamdi Kandu as slaves
10:28by Benin slave raiders.
10:30Meaning, the lands were probably already the ancestral home of Edo people before the 15th-16th
10:36centuries when Benin slave raiders brought in people from afar to the border towns.
10:42Nnamdi Kandu in an online interview conducted by Dele Momodou, the founder of Overshon magazine,
10:48years ago before his rearrest by Nigerian security operatives said Biafra land starts
10:54and ends where women tie two pieces of rapa.
10:57Nnamdi Kandu refused to be specific about the map of the proposed Biafra land as requested
11:02by the journalist, Dele Momodou, but insisted that Biafra land cut across 13 states in Nigeria
11:09with specific mentioning of Edo state, Benue state, Kogi state amongst others.
11:15Simon Eperwile unveiling the proposed map of the Biafra Republic said, December 2, 2024
11:22have been fixed for referendum.
11:25Adding that after the referendum, there may be more years of battle before the actualization
11:30of the Biafra Republic.
11:32In the map and listing of the 40 states of the proposed Biafra Republic, Simon Eperwile
11:38named the states, capital cities and former Nigeria states where the Biafra territories
11:43were created from as follow.

14:14That aside, on June 5, 2017, a student historian, simply identified as Omorege, posted a research
14:23project he conducted on the topic, the origin of Igbanke people in Edo State, on Nyarland
14:29and part of the historical study reads thus, Igbanke is located in Ohiomwon local government
14:36area, Edo State.
14:38Igbanke, by name is in Ohiomwon local government area, but geographically, we do not share
14:45common boundary with any community in the council.
14:48From the eastern flank, Igbanke shares common boundary with Ambeari, an Ika speaking community
14:55in Delta State.
14:56From west, it's bounded by Ogada, another Ika speaking community in Ohiomwon local government
15:03area in Edo State.
15:05In the northern sphere, Igbanke has boundary with Epon, Ika speaking community in Igwebin
15:11local government area while from the south, it has Amo and Ozanlogugu, Ika communities
15:18in Delta State as neighbors.
15:20Igbanke is in Edo South Senatorial District.
15:24Igbanke people and community came under the Beni Empire during the latter's expansionist
15:29program.
15:30Most of other Ika speaking communities that were conquered by Beni Empire same time with
15:35Igbanke have gotten their independence in Delta State while Igbanke, Ogada, Otobaye,
15:41Iru, Epon and Omeka etc. are selfishly scattered in three local government areas.
15:48Another historian posted, as documented by Wikipedia that, Igbanke consists of six villages
15:54which came together from the earliest times preceding the slave trade era.
15:59The people of Idumodile, Ake, Omoluwa, Olegi, Ota and Iguanto are the villages that came
16:07together to establish their settlement which over the years has been referred to as Igbanke.
16:13Wikipedia captured another historian saying, the modern borders of Edo State encompasses
16:18regions that were formerly the site of various empires and kingdoms of the second dynasty
16:24formed in the 11th century AD, the Beni Empire.
16:28Adding, Edo State borders Kogi State to the north for 133 km and across the Niger River
16:35for 81 km to the northeast, Anangwa State to the east for about 4 km across the Niger
16:42River, Delta State to the southeast and south for 350 km, 218 miles and Odo State to the
16:50west.
16:51Simon Ecker said, December 2, 2024 is the date to present its 40 United States of Biafra
16:58map and issue a declaration.
17:01According to him, this move is to further consolidate the actualization of Biafra's
17:06independence.
17:08The Biafra government is presenting the complete map of Biafra in preparation for the 2nd of
17:13December 2024, he stated.
17:17There are reports that Ecker recently engaged former United States lawmaker and lobbyist
17:22James Moran to help convince the US government to support Biafra's cessation from Nigeria.
17:46The Biafra government is presenting the complete map of Biafra in preparation for the 2nd of
17:52December 2024, he stated.
18:16And by December, I will issue a declaration for the restoration of the independence of
18:21Biafra and the flag of Biafra will rise very, very high all over the world.
18:25That day, every part of the country all over the world of Biafra will rise the Biafra flag
18:31very, very high.
18:32We will raise it very, very high from homeland to all over the world.
18:36And then after that, the diplomatic battle will begin for recognition of Biafra government.
18:46So, I can never bring the news in a more digital way.
