00:00I was offered the opportunity to teach Powering Futures last year and I felt that it was a
00:08good opportunity to deliver a new course about sustainable development which is kind of close
00:16to my heart, but also looking at skills and how we can identify skills that industry and
00:23businesses need.
00:25The benefits that I've seen are that being a completely different way of teaching, it
00:32gets pupils interactive all the time.
00:35They are on task, they've got something to do, they're enjoying it, they're learning
00:40about something and they don't necessarily realise that they are learning about something.
00:45We all as teachers have this skill, but our curriculum can constrain us a little bit because
00:51we're constantly thinking about knowledge, knowledge, knowledge, working towards an
00:56exam at the end, whereas this is a reflective, self-evaluated course that pupils are being
01:06assessed continuously throughout the time that they are there.
