00:00Meanwhile, almost 70 Chinese nationals who were involved in the operation of illegal smugglers in Pasay and Central Luzon will be returning to China.
00:08Let's take a look at Sally Maratran's report on the spot.
00:11Sam?
00:1388 Chinese nationals are being deported back to China this morning.
00:19They were caught in government raids in Pago, Pasay, Bambantarlac, and Borac in Pampanga.
00:26According to the Anti-Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission, or PAOC, Director Winston Casio,
00:33there are those who have refused to stop their deportation in trying to obtain precautionary hold departure orders,
00:42even though they don't know about the cases.
00:45That's why they are calling for an investigation,
00:48especially since there are a lot of people doing this to stay in the country.
00:53One of the people who will be deported are the people of Hukikam,
00:57who are trying to escape the heavy rains brought by the typhoon in Habagat and Bagyong Enteng.
01:03Since May 2023, 1,777 people have been deported by the government from raids against Pago in the country.
01:13They are spending P94 million from food and medicine to send them back to their countries.
01:20That includes P200,000 a month for humanitarian assistance to the children of Pago workers.
01:31More than 300 foreigners are in the custody of PAOC who are waiting for deportation.
01:36That's why they are facing various cases in the country.
01:40Meanwhile, PAOC has doubts about the statements of Business Bamban Mayor Alice Wu when she returned to the country.
01:46She said she wants to surrender and that she has death threats.
01:50According to PAOC Executive Director Yusef Gilbert Cruz,
01:54she said she wants to surrender if she moved to another country and changed her mind.
01:59Cruz also believes that Wu will only have death threats if she sings along with her colleagues in illegal activities and their protectors.
02:10However, PAOC is happy that Wu has returned to the country because she can face the cases and complaints against her.
02:17That is the latest from the Department of Justice in Manila. Thank you.
02:22Thank you very much for the five references.
