00:09career, dropping hit after hit in the early noughties. And who can forget the tabloid
00:13frenzy around her relationship with Brian from Westlife? Well, she'd probably like
00:17to. But now Delta Goodrum is back on the road with brand new music and is gearing up for
00:21the release of her first Netflix movie. She's been telling Jodie McCallum why her life is
00:26very much on the up.
00:27Delta, it's so good to see you. It's so good to have you back in the UK. How does it feel
00:42to be back?
00:43I am so happy to be here with you, first and foremost. And secondly, yes, it is. It feels
00:49so exciting. It's like a celebration coming back. First time on tour. I'm just, yeah,
00:54over here. I'm very excited. It's been a long time. I've obviously got wonderful friends.
00:58I straight away texted all my Scottish friends and said, I'm finally getting over there.
01:03I've had a real connection there for so many years. I don't know whether it's like just
01:08from ancestors or what it is, but there's always a great time, you know, with the Scots.
01:13Yeah, absolutely. The Scots love you. We love you. And it's great that you're back.
01:17And I'm absolutely obsessed with your new single Back to Your Heart. It's so euphoric
01:21and nostalgic. What was the inspiration behind the track?
01:24You know, the idea was that basically it was written with the idea of live shows because
01:30last year we'd been touring with the Backstreet Boys and they, which was more fun than I could
01:35possibly explain in my life, a highlight. And then just being on the road and seeing
01:40like those 20 to 30,000 people every single night, singing along and just that passion
01:45for that pop music and lyrics. And it just kind of inspired us to get back to, you know,
01:51back to your heart and how to get into your heart. And I wanted to embrace the big hair
01:55and the big goggles. There is those moments where you go, we just want to let loose and
01:59hear everybody clap and sing along and unite. That's it.

02:04Well, the best place to go to film a music video to have some fun is Have a Nightclub
02:06in Soho, which is a very classy establishment.
02:10I go there every time I get to the UK. So I thought it was only natural to shoot my
02:16music video there.
02:17As Ico, I absolutely love that you did that. And you had like 100 fans with you as well, right?
02:22So I just sent it out there saying, you know, first 100 people or something. Like we're
02:28going to just surprise.
02:29And you're really busy because you've got the Hearts on the Run European UK tour. But
02:33then you've got the 20th anniversary Alice in Ice tour coming up as well.
02:39Can you believe it's been 20 years since the release of Alice in Ice? Like, oh my goodness.
02:44Where's time gone?
02:4520 years. I don't know. I don't know. It feels like it was yesterday.
02:49That album and that moment has, you know, just been really, been a huge part of my life,
02:56you know, to this day. And I love that people, you know, we shared that together.
03:02You must be one of the busiest people on the planet because not only are you doing all
03:04of this on the music front, but you're also acting.

03:13So this is a new movie you're starring in, and Netflix. Tell me all about it.
03:16I play a lady called, a lady. I play a lady. I play a lady. I play a character called Dinah.
03:25Dinah is a seaplane pilot. It was pretty cool because my partner's dad was a pilot, was
03:30teaching me all the different little tricks.
03:33Could you fly a seaplane though, do you think?
03:35You know, he'll go asking me. Health and safety first.
03:39Well, talking about acting, obviously we saw you reprise your role as Nina Tucker in Neighbours,
03:44and fans are absolutely delighted that Neighbours are coming back. Do you think it was just
03:49because there was so much love for it, that's why it's been able to come back quite quickly?
03:53Yeah, I mean, I've got conspiracies about it.
03:56Okay! I love that!
03:59I love a conspiracy theory.
04:01I think that, you know, they honestly did have the same kind of couch and things backstage
04:06for a really long time, so I think it might have been a refurb, you know, I'm not sure.
04:10But no, it's amazing that it's back. I'm very thrilled that the cast get to continue on.
04:15It's the best. Neighbours gave me my start in the industry, so I'm always there, I'm
04:19always a phone call away for them.
04:20Well, I'm so glad that's back. I'm so glad you're back. It's like the Aussie revival
04:24right now. I love it!
