00:00The National Bureau of Investigation says 16 out of 169 foreign nationals caught in an illegal pogo hub in Cebu were sued for qualified trafficking.
00:10On Saturday, August 31, authorities arrested the foreigners—69 Indonesians, 93 Chinese, 6 Burmese, and 1 Malaysian—during what was supposed to be a rescue operation on illegal scamming activities in Lapu-Lapu City.
00:24Based on the inquest proceedings conducted online, the 16 alleged traffickers were identified by the foreigners as their recruiters.
00:31A Filipino named Zandru Magdaluyo Cantarona was also sued as an accessory to the crime.
00:36All 169 foreign nationals were charged in violation of immigration laws.
00:40They will all be turned over to the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission in Pasay City.
00:45The case stems from a request by the Indonesian embassy to rescue at least 40 Indonesians who were allegedly forced to work as scammers.
