Trains between Rochdale and Manchester will not be running between the 6th and 24th of September, this means that commuters will have to find alternative means to get into the city.

With that in mind, here is a little explainer of what is going on and what you can do.

00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World. Now let's talk a little bit about transport.
00:03Many of you who see this will live in Manchester, but a good few will be commuters, and there's
00:07a big chance that a couple of you will currently be scrambling to find different ways into
00:10the city. That's because, as of Friday 6th September, no trains will be running between
00:15Rochdale and Manchester for two and a half weeks. So, what's going on?
00:19Network Rail is investing more than £20 million on rebuilding a railway bridge that takes
00:23trains over the M62 near Rochdale. The railway will reopen on 25th September, but what you're
00:29going to be able to do in the meantime? Well, buses are going to replace trains between
00:33Rochdale and Manchester while the work takes place, while travel from further afield like
00:37Leeds, Bradford or Hebden Bridge will also be affected. Travellers may have to get into
00:41Rochdale via the normal route before turning to trams or buses, which could significantly
00:45impact travel times. Next week I'll put a video together on the
00:49best way to get about, but for now, I heavily suggest researching either alternative public
00:53transport or accessible parking spaces in the city that you can leave your car.
