00:00Hi, welcome to Healthy Home Cooking.
00:03Today I'm going to introduce you to our favorite brand of tea.
00:07It's called Arbor Teas.
00:16And I just got an order in.
00:18You order it online and they ship it to you and you get it in about 3 to 5 days.
00:25I like this tea brand because it's all organic, some of it is fair trade and they have a ton
00:32of varieties.
00:33Also, the website is very helpful.
00:37If you are a tea nerd or a wannabe tea nerd, there is so much on their website to get into.
00:45The history of tea, how you make the different teas, where they get the different teas, look
00:51at it.
00:52It's really, really fascinating.
00:56So let me show you the kind that we ordered this time.
01:00And you get a little card that's personalized to you.
01:05If only they knew how to spell my name, but that's okay, they tried.
01:11And this time we got Russian Caravan, which is a black tea that we're going to try.
01:17They have three sizes.
01:18They got a smaller size than this, which is a sample, which if memory serves is only
01:22like two or three cups of tea and we like to give it a more better shot to see if we
01:28like it.
01:29So I got the next size up and to just sample it.
01:40And we got the Milgisery, I don't know, another type of black tea and an Irish breakfast tea,
01:51which is probably going to be a favorite and an English breakfast tea.
01:56And those are just to try.
01:58One that we really, really like is an herbal tea, which is a butterfly pea lemongrass tea.
02:11When you brew it up, it's this beautiful bluish purple color and it's a lemony flavor and
02:17yum, it's good.
02:19One additional thing about this packaging is the packaging is totally compostable.
02:24So you can just put it in your compost heap and that's wonderful.
02:30And then on the back of the packaging, it lists the ingredients, the temperature you
02:35should brew it at, how much you should use per serving and how long you should brew it,
02:42along with other helpful information.
02:46We're going to open the butterfly pea lemongrass tea first and see what it looks like.
02:51Remember, these bags are compostable, so after you empty them, you can put them in the compost.
02:59Now they recommend to put the tea in a dark glass, well, a dark container, it doesn't
03:05necessarily have to be glass.
03:08We don't have a dark container, but we do use mason jars and then put them in a dark
03:13drawer.
03:14So they are not exposed to the light very often.
03:18So there you go.
03:20That's what the tea looks like.
03:22It smells very lemony.
03:25First we're going to bring two quarts of water to a boil because we make it, we make a full
03:31kettle.
03:32And while that's coming to the boil, I am going to put two, well, not two, make it eight
03:39teaspoons.
03:41One of these is four teaspoons.
03:44So two spoons full, in my case, of tea into the strainer here, or the diffuser, I guess
03:53is the proper term.
04:00Once that comes to a boil, it'll automatically click off and then it's ready for the tea.
04:09So we'll put the tea in there and leave it steep for anywhere from five to seven minutes.
04:16We prefer seven, but you might not.
04:27Now that the tea's done, we're going to lift out the diffuser and let it drain.
04:34And then I put this diffuser into the refrigerator and then I'll make a second pot of tea tomorrow.
04:40But I only reuse it one time.
04:42After I make two pots of tea, then it is done.
04:48So we're going to pour some in.
04:53And in this blue mug, it's going to look clear, but it's this beautiful blue hue and enjoy.
05:07One thing I like to do is mix tea with sweet wine to make my own little version of adult
05:16sweet tea.
05:18And remember in grade school, when we were taught our colors?
05:23Now what happens if we mix yellow and blue?
05:35That's right, boys and girls.
05:37We get clear science.
05:45Thanks for coming with me today to unbox and taste test some Arbor Teas.
05:51As always, be healthy and keep on cooking.
