00:00Yes I'm Jackie Trebek and I own Tides Coffee Shop. So tell me about Tides and where we are.
00:06Well I opened Tides July 2022 and just because I saw the space up for rent and I've lived in
00:14the community for a long time and even though I've never worked in a coffee shop or even own
00:20one or anything I gave up my job at the council where I'd worked for many years and decided to
00:25give it a go and for the community really. I've walked past this building many times walking my
00:31dog in 16-17 years and completely moaned to myself there was nowhere to get coffee
00:37in the area and so when it came up for rent I just decided it might be a good idea to
00:44just go for it because if I didn't someone else would and I probably would have lived with the
00:47regret of that. So yeah I decided to take the plunge and it all just really unfolded quite
00:54naturally and organically really and the community have come together and have made it what it is
00:58really you know it's all the regulars and all the lovely people that come in and the staff
01:03the staff are all very good friends and family members so they've always been rooting for me and
01:09you know for all of us and I think that's the vibe that everybody's attracted to the fact
01:14that's by the water it's a very joyful atmosphere everybody knows each other so when people that go
01:21there haven't been there before they pick up on that and they pick up on the relaxed side of it
01:26and obviously the cake and the coffee is amazing which helps you know nobody wants to come and
01:31not have good cake and coffee but so that's really helped but yeah I've got my daughters
01:36my friends and good regulars and it's working out really well so that's why it got so popular
01:42that the tiny little space that we had had to had to change we couldn't carry on the way we're going
01:49space wise we were struggling to feed as many people that wanted feeding and so we decided to
01:56expand new people that own the marina Karen and Jason they took on to make the space so it was
02:04good for purpose so they're my if you like my landlords and so they undertook the works
02:10and did that for me so made it bigger made the kitchen better and so we're now able to
02:15feed more people and have a little bit more space I think we've gained about an extra 10 seats
02:20which will hopefully be good enough you know for now anyway and we're hoping to maybe get
02:25some seats outside soon which would be nice sitting over here and yeah all the regulars
02:31are loving it and it's so far been we've only been open another four days after the refurb
02:37but it seems to be going well everybody's enjoying it and it's not lost too much of
02:41its original cuteness I hope and people said it hasn't so that's good I mean you've got a
02:46wonderful view um in there with with those big open doors um it's good to hear the reaction
02:53um is it just coffee and cakes that you do or is that no we do um hot food too so we do your
02:59typical bacon bat sausage bats we do um granola bowls for breakfast we do hot paninis amazing
03:06bagels everybody loves you know bacon brie and cranberry salmon and cream cheese we do
03:11goat's cheese and caramelized onion um so we do um afternoon teas which are very popular
03:19and we do a high tide breakfast which is on a cake stand for three and it's got like mini
03:24um bacon and sausage bats and then you've got little mini granola bowls and then you've got
03:29um little waffles and maple syrup to go with it so it's on a tower I'll have to try that yeah
03:36that that's quite popular um so yes I think we do an array of different foods um there we're hoping
03:43to start doing um bilingual breakfast soon we've only just managed to get a hob because before it
03:50was too small to have that but now we've got a hob we'll probably be putting that down on the menu
03:54as well soon so yeah there's quite a few few choices jack potatoes with chili you know and
04:00jack potato and beans and cheese you know your typical that's great so tell me um what your
04:06opening hours are yes so we are open seven days a week at the moment um during the week monday to
04:12friday we're open nine till four saturday we're open ten till four and sunday we're open ten till
04:17two so yep that seems to work quite well at the moment I mean obviously that's open to change but
04:22it's been the sort of same for quite a long time now
