00:00Hi Primoz, I hope you're doing well today and you have a good rest day. What do you
00:08think about the time penalty you got yesterday?
00:11Hi. Yes, I mean, I just started. It's a bit rainy, but definitely I will enjoy my rest
00:21day. Yeah, I mean, about the time penalty I got yesterday, I cannot really change it,
00:26no. I mean, they put me 20 minutes more, so yeah. 20 seconds actually more to get back.
00:38Does it bother you? Do you agree with the decision?
00:41Yeah, I mean, like I said, either I agree, I don't, I disagree. I mean, yeah, for sure
00:49I don't like it, no. I mean, it's better with 20 less, but okay, I also have to go with
00:5520 more.
00:56Hi Primoz, did you expect to be this strong in this week after your back injury?
01:04Hi Maxim. I mean, everything is hard to predict actually really in front, you know. Still,
01:13yes, now really the finals will come with the third week. So yeah, I mean, so far so
01:22good. I don't complicate too much. It's going great actually. I'm functioning well. So yeah,
01:32I stay positive for the next ones.
01:36Hi Primoz. Let's quickly look back to yesterday once more. The bike change, was that a planned
01:44one, I guess so, to change to a single ring at the front? And what was the calculations?
01:53How much time that could win? Is it 20 seconds that you lost in the end? Or how much did
01:59you think that could win?
02:01Yeah, I think now looking back, we lose more than we win now. But at least, let's say,
02:11it was as nice as it can be in the last pre-K. Because yes, I had more light gears. I could
02:20spin a bit more going through the steep parts there. But yeah, definitely now looking back,
02:27I mean, I wouldn't do it again. I mean, it cost me way more than we did.
02:34It was completely planned to do it at that point and to do it in the finals?
02:39Yeah, yeah. I mean, more than less. Why not? I mean, you have options. You have to try
02:47the things. And while doing things, sometimes it works out, you do well. Some of them, yes,
02:57they don't give so positive results. But yeah, it was how it was. We did what we did. Now
03:05we have to look for the next days.
03:09Final question. You kind of already answered it, but will you do a bike change again? Will
03:14you ever do one again, do you think, after what happened yesterday?
03:18I don't know. In the case, if we go back to yesterday, I wouldn't do it again. No, that's
03:29for sure. But for the next ones, I mean, or yeah, when it comes to opportunities or considering
03:38maybe that you can do it, I would consider, yes. I mean, I also, let's say, got out of it really
03:46positive results or some wins. So yeah, I mean, would consider it definitely again. But yes,
03:56yesterday, it cost, I think, more than we gained.
04:00Piemers, can I just check? You didn't do it at Ancares, but I think you had the bike ready,
04:06but did you not do it because there wasn't enough room between the two climbs? Just tell us,
04:11did you do it at Ancares or not?
04:14No, no, no. I was just riding with a normal bike, yeah.
04:19Yep.
04:21Hey, Piemers. I was just wondering how you assess the shape and strength of Ben O'Connor,
04:27particularly after yesterday when people thought he might lose time?
04:33Hi, Jim. He's in really good shape, definitely. I mean, he's a great rider. He already achieved
04:45some really big results. So in that terms, yeah, not a so big surprise. I mean, he's
04:56leading the race, also not on, let's say, a nice size or whatever. I mean, he gained the time with
05:04the incredible performance of him. I mean, he was just riding alone out of all of us.
05:12And yes, for the moment, he's still riding really strong.
05:18I have a question looking into the third week and on getting back the red jersey.
05:26Do you want it back as soon as possible or are you staying calm and saying the last three days
05:34will decide the weather and I can save the energy of my team for those last three days?
05:41Or do you want the jersey back as soon as possible?
05:44Good morning, Tom. I mean, with all these things, it's quite hard to predict.
05:54I mean, it's not just me involved. It's the team and then it's all the guys around. So it's really
06:02hard to point out where or on which places you could gain some time because sometimes it goes
06:09the opposite. You think here or not and yes, here you gain something, here you lose more than you
06:14thought. So yeah, I mean, we are still a good minute behind. OK, definitely better than one
06:23week ago. But yes, still quite some work to do and just have to give our best from tomorrow on
06:35till Sunday. Could you tell us something about
06:40what you think about the performance of Florian Lipovic?
06:43Yes, Florian is flying. I mean, it's the first time I race together with him. He already has
06:53showed this year some really great performances and yes, he's showing it again here. So yes,
07:03white jersey. What can I say? Really, really nice to have him along me.
07:14This is a more general question, but Red Bull Bora-Hansgrohe has you, Vlasov,
07:20Jindley, which is not in this world. Also, Florian Lipovic, like you said, is flying.
07:27What is the key for this team to keep such unity like it has demonstrated?
07:38Can you repeat? I didn't completely understand.
07:40How is the team performing so well with all of you guys? What's the secret?
07:46Ah, OK, OK. We talk, we have fun. I mean, try to have fun. It's not always
07:58how you say it, that it works everything really well. But yeah, we talk. We talk through,
08:05through, keep it moving. And yeah, just like that, keeping it also simple, not overcomplicated
08:16and at the end having or try to have as much fun on the bike that we can have.
08:24You have lifted the last year's win of Sepp Kuss from inside in the team. Do you consider
08:32that the position of Ben O'Connor this year, is there a little bit of a comparison with
08:38last year with Sepp? It's also a little bit of a surprise.
08:43Ah, yeah. I mean, he gained a lot of time, if we say like that, on the same way from the breakaway.
08:57But yeah, at the end, we also know, I mean, he's Ben O'Connor. He's a strong guy,
09:07already achieved a couple of really great results on three big races. He's strong.
09:16And yeah, it's a big challenge, I mean, in front of all of us to try to challenge him.
09:24You won La Vuelta three times, you are fighting for one more title.
09:30Is here in La Vuelta the race in which you feel most comfortable?
09:38For sure, yes. Of all the three races, the one that,
09:44yes, it brings me the best results. So, yeah, comfortable, it's hard to say. I mean,
09:52they are all harder. It takes really a lot of effort. But yeah, enjoying it. I mean,
10:03when I am in the positions where I am, yes, it's really a pleasure to give the best
10:12out of me and the teammates and all the people around.
10:17Obviously, you're 34 and you're still competing at the very top level. I'm sure you've been asked
10:23this before, Primoz, but do you have an idea of how long you think you might be able to compete
10:30at this level? Do you still feel young? Do you feel any kind of physical change, decline?
10:38No, don't ask this. Of course, young. I mean, I still feel 18 inside. But then, yes, when you
10:47wake up, it's definitely not the same as when you're 20 years old. I mean, you know how it goes.
10:56The older you get, the more things start to come out. But yeah, for the moment,
11:08I mean, it's a pleasure to be still racing with those young guys around. They still push you.
11:19I mean, also at the end, I say it keeps me young as long as I can be in this circle. So yeah,
11:27hopefully I can stay there as long as possible. Or on the other hand, as long as I will feel it,
11:36that I enjoy it and I like it, yes, I will be a part of it.
