00:00Update on the effects of the earthquake in the country,

00:03let's find out together with Director Edgar Posadas,

00:07the spokesperson of the Office of Civil Defense, NDRRMC.

00:12Director Posadas, good afternoon.

00:15Good afternoon, ma'am. It's raining, but it's a safe afternoon.

00:20To everyone watching and listening to your program.

00:23Director Posadas, in your monitoring,

00:25what areas are affected by the earthquake?

00:30Since yesterday, ma'am, those that we monitored,

00:34those that were reported, they had floods,

00:38landslides, and other incidents.

00:42Yesterday, in Region 7 in Cebu,

00:46and also in Region 8 in Northern Samar,

00:50and then in Bicol Region,

00:53of course, the two neighboring regions of Calabarzon and Maropan,

01:00including Metro Manila,

01:02and then in Region 3, especially the western provinces of Central Luzon.

01:11Actually, Central Luzon is exposed on the eastern side,

01:15Aurora because of the earthquake,

01:18and then Cabagat on the other side.

01:21And then as we foresee,

01:24based on the forecast for the next few days,

01:28of course, there are regions 1 and 2,

01:33and then of course Cordillera in the next few days.

01:40Director Posadas, how is the supply of electricity

01:44and communication lines in the mentioned regions?

01:47And was there a preemptive evacuation in these areas?

01:53As for the areas that were affected,

01:58earlier we talked to Director Yukut,

02:01there was an evacuation in his region.

02:05The only thing here is that we don't have exact data about the numbers,

02:11but there are.

02:14We are also encouraging that preemptive evacuation

02:20as a mechanism for preparation.

02:23We also enjoin our public that if they are threatened to preemptively evacuate,

02:31they should follow it for their own safety.

02:35We are also encouraging that because ASEC and MAM,

02:38this earthquake is number one,

02:41it's close to the landmass,

02:43that's why our time is like this,

02:45plus its escalation.

02:51Now, it's a tropical storm.

02:55It's possible that it could be a severe tropical storm,

02:59and typhoon as it exits the Philippine area of responsibility.

03:12We don't need to go anywhere.

03:14We have the Marikina River.

03:15Its alarm is on its second because it has exceeded the threshold.

03:25those living near creeks, rivers, and waterways,

03:47We were informed that there are two casualties or fatalities in Cebu.

03:56This is from the landslide that happened yesterday.

04:01There are also, I just added, we also received reports for confirmation here in the Pico region.

04:09Earlier, the response cluster meeting is ongoing.

04:15There are reports missing, but we are still looking into that ma'am.

04:21In the next reporting time, we will report for the details as soon as we get them.

04:30Director Posadas, in terms of infrastructure,

04:33do we have any updates on damaged roads or impassable roads?

04:40If not, what regions should be vigilant,

04:46especially those prone to landslides or mudslides?

04:51There are damage houses, but our data is low.

04:58There are 10, one partially and 10 total damage in Region 7.

05:05Like I said, we are still in the response phase.

05:09So probably as the tropical storm will go up,

05:18these regions would already make the necessary assessments to improve our data.

05:26As regards to your second question,

05:31these regions, including Metro Manila, because up to now we have heavy rainfall warning,

05:40the areas prone to landslides like Calabarzon,

05:46here in Region 3 sir, and the other three regions in Northern Rizon, Regions 2, 1 and Cordillera.

05:55A message and a reminder to our countrymen, especially to those affected by heavy rainfall.

06:05Yes. To our countrymen, that's why we are talking to you through your program,

06:14so they can be informed. It's better for us to follow up because we understand and believe in what is being done to us,

06:27like for example, the preemptive evacuation.

06:30This tropical storm, Tenteng, we can see based on the forecast that it will still escalate into a stronger,

06:45either a severe tropical storm or even a typhoon.

06:48These two are the ones we are monitoring.

06:51This is a result of the enhancement of the weather. It will rain on the western side of the country.

06:58We will continue to listen and monitor if we notice any changes in our communities.

07:08We should not hesitate, especially if we live near rivers, waterways or mountains.

07:19Our land is a bit saturated now that landslides are possible.

07:24We should not hesitate to respond and react properly.

07:32I would like to assure our public, our countrymen, that your government is here in all levels.

07:40Of course, we start with the local government units, the regional offices of the national government agencies

07:48and if necessary, the MNC in Camp Aguinaldo to meet your needs.

07:57We are here to help in whatever way possible.

08:01This is the order of our President, Secretary Chodoro and of course, Secretary Monseno as the civil defense administrator.

08:11Lastly, just to address that, we are on a red alert here in Camp Aguinaldo.

08:17We don't miss out on anything. We don't give anything to chance.

08:21As we speak, there is an ongoing response class per meeting.

08:24This is chaired by Usec Kahipe ASEC.

08:29We are looking at the available resources if necessary, to include additional food and non-food items and other resources.

08:39Both human and equipment wise and financial.

08:43So if necessary, we can easily intervene.
