00:00It was burned and stolen.

00:03That's what they said was burned in Sampaloc, Manila.

00:06And Jomer Apresto was arrested.

00:12You would think that this man is also a resident

00:15who carries firewood and LPG from the burnt apartments in Sampaloc, Manila.

00:21But the man is from Kawatandao, according to the barangay.

00:25There's something that goes inside and there's a lot of things,

00:28but we didn't know that it was there.

00:31Because we know the people who live there.

00:34The items that were stolen were recovered, but the man was able to escape.

00:38Aside from this, three men were brought to the precinct.

00:44But when we went to the precinct,

00:47the police said that there were no suspects there.

00:52According to the Bureau of Fire Protection,

00:54eight houses were burned in the area.

00:56When we arrived here, at the end,

01:00that's where the fire was coming from.

01:02We were able to escape easily.

01:04That's why it didn't reach the houses in front of us.

01:10Based on the investigation,

01:12the fire started around 1 a.m.

01:16and reached the second alarm.

01:18Joy, who is a resident,

01:19had nothing to save and was killed by a stray dog.

01:24I took care of my son because when I came back,

01:27I couldn't bring my dog back.

01:30This fire volunteer had a hard time breathing because of the thick smoke.

01:35He was immediately given medical attention.

01:38It took more than an hour and a half for the fire to start

01:41before it was extinguished around 2.40 a.m.

01:45According to the barangay,

01:46they have already contacted the nearby barangay and the local government

01:50for the immediate continuation of the 40 families affected by the fire.

01:55Their barangay does not have an evacuation center.

01:59The BFP will continue to investigate what caused the fire.
