00:00The grandeur and wealth of Emiratis here in Dubai can not only be seen in the beauty and exaltation of their buildings.
00:16This is also evident in their clothes, especially for women.
00:22And one of the in-demand fashion designers here in Dubai, who is a descendant of the royal families of the Middle East.
00:34And a big international celebrity, none other than our countryman, M5, Michael Cinco.
00:52The question is, how much?
00:56More, more.
00:57Oh my God, let's go home.
01:02It's nice to see his name, Michael Cinco, Dubai.
01:10Michael Cinco, thank you for letting me interview you again.
01:15It's an honor for me to be with you again.
01:18In this room, his wedding gowns are on display.
01:27This is the room for bridals, this is the ladies' collection.
01:30It's beautiful, it's amazing.
01:33As you can see, it's more on detailed embroideries, a lot of crystal work on it.
01:39I saw that skirt on Pia Wertz's dress during the Miss Universe pageant in Manila.
01:46And also Marian Rivera.
01:48Yes, it's very important for a designer to have his own DNA, like design aesthetic.
01:55You must have your own look that people will recognize.
01:58The daughter of the owner of Swarovski, you made the gown.
02:02His wedding dress was also viral.
02:06How long does it take to make this, Michael?
02:09It takes thousands of hours to finish it, just for the embroideries.
02:15Sometimes, it takes 2-3 months.
02:21How much?
02:23Well, how much is how much.
02:27My minimum price for the wedding dress is Php 6,000,000.
02:31But you still have to make it.
02:34So, this is around Php 5,000,000?
02:37More, more.
02:38Oh my God, let's go home.
02:41Welcome to the couture world of Michael Cinco.
02:46His couture pieces are here in this room.
02:51These are the clothes that were really designed by his clients.
02:55This is made of liquid satin.
02:57It's like you're wearing water.
02:59Yes.
03:00Now, this is it.
03:02Michael also showed us one of his biggest creations.
03:07This robe is more than 20 meters long.
03:12Wow, it's amazing.
03:14So, you can see a lot of Egyptian symbols and Egyptian hieroglyphs.
03:19His inspiration here is one of the most famous queens of Egypt, Queen Nefertiti.
03:28When the Egyptian government saw this collection, they invited us to go to Cairo to do the exhibition.
03:34It's a robe, so you just have to pull it.
03:36Oh, it's just a robe.
03:37Yes, it's a robe.
03:38Oh, you're wearing it.
03:39Yes, I'm wearing it.
03:40I'm wearing it.
03:44Wow.
03:46It's just his own trip.
03:47It's just his own trip.
03:49It's beautiful.
03:51What an honor.
03:52I'm wearing one of the biggest gowns and heaviest that Michael Cinco has ever made.
03:59It's just heavy, to be honest.
04:01To all my fans, where is the swag?
04:06Let's go!
04:11And we're just here.
04:13I didn't miss the opportunity to make my own Michael Cinco piece for Michael.
04:21I won an award here in Dubai.
04:24So, I just made a jacket over my dress.
04:28I'm going to fit it now.
04:29I'm just nervous about how light it is.
04:35It's classy.
04:36It's beautiful.
04:37I think the sleeves are too big.
04:39Maybe I should make it smaller.
04:42You look like you're wearing clothes.
04:45I'm crying.
04:46I will take that as a very nice compliment.
05:00What are the chances?
05:01In one frame, Michael Cinco and Ezra.
05:05What does Dubai have that you two are here?
05:08We used to work as an in-house designer before we established our own business.
05:12You can create whatever you want.
05:14And there's no limit with the budget.
05:16When I arrive here, I'm victim of discrimination.
05:19But you know what's my secret?
05:21What?
05:22I kill them with my talent and kindness.
05:24Because Filipinos are adaptable.
05:26Michael has worn a lot of big names.
05:29I first met him in 2011.
05:33It was my first TV exposure.
05:35Really?
05:36Yes.
05:37Wow.
05:38What an honor that we introduced you to Philippine TV.
05:42No, it was my honor.
05:43Let's do a little throwback, Michael.
05:45Tell us about your stint or your break in America's Top Model.
05:52This was my first ever interview.
05:56And I'm so proud and I'm very grateful that it was you.
06:00It's my honor, Michael.
06:01What stayed with me is what you said when I interviewed you.
06:05When I was a kid, I was very ambitious.
06:09And I like to dream of things when I'm awake.
06:13I feel like that window is a French window.
06:16The sea of summer that I imagine is a French Riviera.
06:20You know sometimes when you grow up to a place,
06:22it's not really as grand, as beautiful as I imagined.
06:27So your imagination run in wild abandon.
06:30You become creative without the resources.
06:33You make your own dreams.
06:35Here in Katbalogan, Samar, Michael was inspired by a simple way of life.
06:41Five out of eight siblings.
06:43When we were kids, we didn't have an electric fan.
06:46We only had electricity.
06:48We always walked when we went to school.
06:51We didn't have our own house.
06:53But this didn't stop Michael from pursuing his dream of becoming a fashion designer.
07:00And his first client was his sister, Myla.
07:04When we were kids, when Miss Universe was playing,
07:08she was the one who was wearing my clothes.
07:10It was just blankets.
07:12And when there was no one inside, her friends were there.
07:15They were cutting paper dolls.
07:18Every time we had a contest, she was the one who made our costumes.
07:22At an early age, she was very focused on what she was doing.
07:24But her first client, Benito, was a true follower of Michael's dream.
07:29Of course, when you're LGBTQ plus community,
07:33you always have problems with your parents when you're growing up.
07:36But her mother, Restituta, accepted who she was.
07:40When she went to college, Michael pursued his big dream in the big city.
07:45She studied in Manila.
07:47She worked for some of the designers she admired.
07:50Until 1993, she was in Saudi Arabia.
07:55I was in a culture shock.
07:57But being Filipino, I easily adapted to the culture.
08:00But her big break happened when she moved to Dubai in 1997.
08:06I was assistant designer of one of the biggest fashion houses here in Dubai.
08:11And the first client that they gave me at that time was one of the royal families.
08:16Luckily, they liked it.
08:19Because of her hard work, Michael's family in Samar
08:23is no longer living in their house.
08:27Michael built them a mansion
08:30that looks like a White House in America.
08:40Not long after, Michael came home to stay as a brother
08:44in the first season of Katbalogan Samar
08:47where he closed some of his masterpieces.
08:51His support for the talent of his fellow Filipino designers was not in vain.
08:58In fact, he was even mentioned sometimes when he defended them.
09:03Beautiful things in this world are not free.
09:06In other words, you have to pay.
09:10Do you want to clarify anything?
09:11Yeah, I just want to clarify.
09:12I saw a famous influencer and a famous celebrity
09:16who bought the same clothes as them.
09:19So I said, why do these celebrities and famous influencers
09:24have the same popularity?
09:27But why do Filipino designers not want to pay?
09:30So the point was, you are not angry with those who make you feel free.
09:35Yes.
09:36You are angry that they flatter foreigners.
09:41It's okay, Libri, if it's the Filipino designer
09:43who really wants to dress them up.
09:46I think you have to value the craftsmanship
09:49and the time of the Filipino designers.
09:52I also did not miss asking what many of us are thinking.
09:57Why do you always wear shades?
09:59I'm a very shy person.
10:00When there are a lot of people, when they see how big your mirror is,
10:04they cannot forgive you.
10:06Because when you arrive, there is no forgiveness here, Madam.
10:10So it's not allowed to laugh?
10:12It's not allowed to laugh.
10:13That's the real reason.
10:15I think 14 years ago, I had a very severe vertigo attack
10:19that I thought I was going to die.
10:21My doctor told me not to use too much light.
10:25Can we see what you look like without glasses?
10:31Or how much?
10:33I don't think we can.
10:36We have prepared a surprise for Michael.
10:39From the Philippines to Dubai, with love!
10:43Please continue to be an inspiration and blessing to others
10:48through your generosity, kindness, and positive outlook on life.
10:53This is one of my best friends.
10:55Thank you for everything.
10:57I'm always here. I love you.
10:59See? She's also very caring.
11:02Michael, thank you for everything.
11:06I love you.
11:07Mother is very social.
11:09She's wearing glasses.
11:11She cried.
11:12Give this to your mother.
11:14Oh my God.
11:16Thank you so much.
11:17You know what, my mother is very religious.
11:19She's the one who taught me to believe in God,
11:21to always have big faith.
11:23Oh, thank you so much.
11:24I cried.
11:27When you don't have really the means in life,
11:30what you have to do is to just pray.
11:33And I'm very glad my mother taught me that.
11:35What if in Katbalogan or somewhere in Samar,
11:39there's a child like you,
11:41what would you like to tell him?
11:43Anything in this world is possible.
11:45No matter where you come from,
11:47if you believe that you can make all your dreams come true,
11:50if you work hard, then dreams will happen.
11:53So dream your impalpable dream.
11:56Thank you, Michael.
11:57Thank you so much.
11:58Thank you so much.
11:59It's always a pleasure.
12:00It's really an honor for me to be interviewed again.
12:03And I'm so blessed.
12:05Because you're the first ever who trusted me.
12:07You're the first show who ever interviewed me
12:10when I was still unknown at that time.
12:12Because it does serve you.
12:13Because of you.
12:14You're forgiving Filipinas.
12:16You're not here in Dubai,
12:18even in America, in Hollywood.
12:20Proud of you.
12:21Always proud to be Filipino.
12:22Yes.
12:23K-N-J-S!
