Today on the Dance of Dragons dev server we take a look a the new American top tier battleship USS Tennessee, which brings us to the cusp of the Colorado class and its 16 inch guns!  So join me as I take a look at this battleship, analyse its stats and give my overall thoughts on its inclusion in War Thunder! 00:00Hello everybody, Trenno here, and welcome back to the Dance of Dragons dev server.

00:05And today we're going to be taking a look at the USS Tennessee,

00:08which is a new American battleship that's coming in at rank 6, battle rating 7.0.

00:13So this is now tied with the Arizona as the top tier American battleship,

00:18and this is on the middle line after the Nevada.

00:21So as you can see, this is very similar to the USS Mississippi.

00:24So it's got the same main armament in the same amount of barrels and same turrets.

00:29So you've got four triple turrets.

00:31The secondary battery is the same, but instead of 16 single barrels,

00:34it's eight double barrel installations.

00:38You've got 10 quad both amounts, and you've got 43 20mm Oricon cannons.

00:43So looking at the main guns first, with your HE shell, you can do 71mm penetration.

00:49Once you've unlocked the APC BC shell, it's 618mm penetration at 0 degrees

00:55to 224 at 60 degrees at 5,000 meters.

00:59Then your standard 127mm 5-inch guns, you've got your HE,

01:03you've got your special shells, which have got a little bit of armor piercing.

01:07And of course, you've got that HEVT shell,

01:09which is very effective for against enemy aircraft.

01:12And the armor seems to be broadly the same.

01:14So starts at 203mm at the waterline or just under the waterline,

01:19then increases to about 343mm.

01:23The barbettes are 320mm.

01:25Turret faces are 457mm.

01:28Turret roofs are 177mm.

01:31And the deck armor is about 165 to 137mm, depending on where you're looking.

01:37Then you've got a bit of armor back here for the steering gear and such.

01:41And we've got a top speed of 20.2 miles per hour, a crew of 2,192.

01:47And of course, we've got a whole bunch of radars and fire directors.

01:50So it's going to be very difficult for you to lose all of your fire directors.

01:53You're basically always going to have some fire directors remaining for targeting enemies.

01:59So yeah, that is the USS Tennessee.

02:01Now, as I mentioned in my dev blog video,

02:03it doesn't have the biggest changes compared to the previous classes.

02:07One of the big changes I mentioned was the gun barrels are able to elevate a little bit higher.

02:11And of course, the secondary battery being slightly changed.

02:15So yeah, it is a good addition to the American Tech Tree,

02:17but I'm more excited by the fact that by getting the Tennessee,

02:20we're now basically one class away from getting the Colorados with the 16-inch guns.

02:25So I'm hoping we're going to be starting to move into the more modern battleships,

02:29the next generation of battleships.

02:31And so yeah, while this is a good addition,

02:33I'm more excited about what was going to come after this vessel rather than this vessel itself.

02:39Anyway, that's just a quick look at the USS Tennessee.
