Malaysia celebrates its 67th Independence Day in the administrative capital of Putrajaya, where King Sultan Ibrahim and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim watch parades and military processions involving over 17,000 people. Malayan independence from the British Empire was declared on 31 August 1957.

01:10If we compare the past to the present, there are a lot of differences.
01:14In the past, there were a lot of Chinese and Indians who didn't have citizenship cards.
01:20But now they have citizenship and we can buy our own houses and cars.
01:26We are like the sons of the earth in Malaysia. We get all the rights as citizens.
