00:00Well done. It's delicious. What's your secret?
00:15It is the same as always, Your Excellency. Only a little happiness and honesty have been added.
00:26Tell me, do happiness and honesty really make food tastier?
00:32That is because of the magnanimity and the favorable opinion of my lord and lady.
00:37Why were not the happiness and honesty here before?
00:41Because Yusasif wasn't here before.
00:50Yusasif, is there some sorcery you use that attracts others to you so much?
00:57Sorcery? No, my lady. What is sorcery?
01:04He uses kindness and affection. He doesn't need sorcery.
01:11As of tomorrow, in addition to being in the kitchen, Yusasif can be our table decker too.
01:41What's the matter?
02:03I worked very hard to become Potiphar's table decker.
02:07I tolerated slavery and hard work for many years simply to catch Potiphar's attention.
02:14And now a child, a shepherd Hebrew, ruins everything as soon as he arrives.
02:20Yusasif is blameless. Potiphar makes decisions. Yusasif is not allowed to disobey Potiphar.
02:30What should I do? Now they will send me to work on a hot farm or to work in a stone mine.
02:38I suggest you talk to Yusasif about it.
02:42You could talk to Honefer as well. Perhaps there is a solution to this.
02:48Clear the dishes.
03:04Are you just going to stand there? Help us.
03:09As of now, Yusasif is the table decker of Excellency Potiphar. It's not my right to interfere.
03:16Honefer, have I done something to upset you?
03:20You don't know. Everything is ruined because of you.
03:25If you only knew how hard I worked to become Potiphar's table decker.
03:32They will send him to work on the farms or the stone mines.
03:43May God forgive me. Forgive me if I've hurt you unknowingly.
03:50I'll try to make up for it. Please don't worry.
04:05Lady Zelenka approaches.
04:20Excellency Kofo wishes to see me.
04:24It is sad indeed, my lady, that it is up to a mere child to decide how the temple is run.
04:34I think the news you have been given has been exaggerated.
04:39This little child and his behavior indicates his animosity towards our gods.
04:47Do not give him responsibility over Potiphar's palace.
04:51Yusasif is a child. What animosity can he have towards our gods?
04:58You are aware of my belief in gods. An enemy of the gods will have no place in my palace.
05:05Lady Zelenka is one of the goddesses in Amon Temple, and one of Amon's wives.
05:11We expect more from you than from the others.
05:14Yusasif does not yet know the gods are temples. You had better tell this to Excellency Potiphar as well.
05:22Very well.
05:31Your Excellency, did you give permission to a child to decide the food portions of the palace residence?
05:39Yusasif simply reads the number of helpings from the papyrus we have given him.
05:47We used only his ability to read and write, nothing more.
05:51Then why did he prevent the taking of the temple share yesterday?
05:55Yusasif simply questioned why the five people in the temple require twenty helpings of food.
06:02We also have the same question.
06:07And the priests objected to that. It wasn't a lack of respect for the gods or the priests.
06:14What is it to a child? The temple wants to take the gods' and servants' share together.
06:22Who has been allowing the temple servants to eat both their share and gods' share?
06:29Why must the temple servants become obese like you, and yet the other palace residents weak and thin?
06:37Excellency Potiphar, you are comparing us with the slaves and servants.
06:44We are the servants of Amon, the god of Egypt's gods.
06:50The palace residents, too, are the servants of Amon and their own lord.
06:57The difference seems to be that the palace servants try hard to please their lord.
07:06And the temple priests seem to do very little for their gods, but eat and gain copious amounts of weight.
07:27I will report this insult to Ankh-Mahu, the highest priest of Amon Temple.
07:44Although we love Yusasif, we mustn't offend the priests of Amon Temple because of him.
07:53It's not because of Yusasif. Behavior of the priests in the temple is unbearable, my lady.
08:03Excellency Potiphar and Ladies Olega, your dispute is not my concern.
08:11But as goddess in Amon Temple, I plan to raise Yusasif so that he will become Amon's worshiper.
08:22Not Amon's enemy.
08:52Greetings to the high priest of Amon Temple, Excellency Ankh-Mahu.
09:19What is it?
09:22I am here to beg the high priest to exempt me from serving in the temple in Potiphar's palace.
09:31Why? What is the problem?
09:35Amon and the priests of Amon Temple are insulted in Potiphar's palace.
09:42They are infidels, especially Potiphar, who is the least faithful of them all.
09:51You still haven't answered. What has happened?
09:56A Hebrew child by the name of Yusasif objects to Amon and the priests of Amon Temple.
10:03He instigates everybody against us and ridicules us in public. I will not return to Potiphar's palace.
10:10Oh, it's a child who frightens you.
10:13I thought you considered Potiphar and Amenhotep the enemies of the temple.
10:18I didn't know you were no match for a ten-year-old child.
10:22He is no ordinary child.
10:24Stop it. Shut up.
10:27You should not have left the palace.
10:30Return immediately, before it is discovered.
10:34We need you in Potiphar's palace more than here.
10:39We were contemplating the ousting of Amenhotep, the mighty pharaoh of Egypt.
10:47And now, one of our greatest priests has been defeated by a small child and run away?
10:57Don't stand here. Go!
11:09Go.
11:26How beautiful he is. He's like an angel.
11:31He looks like an angel.
11:33He does.
11:34That's Yusasif.
11:35Oh.
11:36Oh, good to see you.
11:37He is beautiful.
11:38Yes.
11:39I'd heard, but I've never...
11:40He is so beautiful.
11:42Why don't you get your food?
11:47He looks like an angel.
11:49He does.
12:00The table looks beautiful.
12:03Did you set the table, Yusasif?
12:07Samani taught me.
12:10He taught you?
12:12Yes.
12:13He taught me.
12:15He taught you?
12:17Yes.
12:18Yes.
12:19Yes.
12:20Yes.
12:21Yes.
12:22Yes.
12:23Yes.
12:24Yes.
12:25Yes.
12:26Yes.
12:27Yes.
12:28Yes.
12:29Samani taught me.
12:31Yusasif is very smart.
12:35Yusasif has undoubtedly perfected what he has learned.
12:40The beauty of this table excites me.
12:43I feel that I could eat an elephant.
12:50Thank you, Yusasif.
12:54Is the young Yusasif able to read story books?
13:00I have also learned amazing stories from my father.
13:05All right.
13:07As of tonight, you read me stories.
13:10Stories?
13:12Excellency Potiphar always listens to stories before he goes to bed.
13:17The one who reads me stories now does not amuse me anymore.
13:24You don't answer, Yusasif.
13:28Your Excellency, what will happen to your current book reader?
13:34Sufer?
13:36He'll do something else.
13:39I caused Hoya to lose his job.
13:42I don't want Sufer to lose his job, too.
13:46Can I request something from Excellency Potiphar?
13:54Your caring attitude impresses me greatly.
13:58Are you wanting to ask me to give Hoya and Sufer better jobs?
14:04Or to return them to their previous jobs?
14:08I don't want to hurt people or endanger their position.
14:14Don't worry.
14:15I will tell Potiphar to give Hoya and Sufer better jobs.
14:22As of today, you will be my librarian and book reader.
14:26I thought Excellency Potiphar gave Yusasif to me as a present.
14:31But he seems to enjoy Yusasif's company just as much.
14:35If you do not agree, Yusasif won't do anything.
14:40I was only joking.
14:43Yusasif will do whatever the lord of this house wills.
14:49You must always be very grateful and never take advantage of your kindness.
14:59I will always be grateful to my god.
15:19Come with me.
15:50This library is a valuable treasure, collected with much difficulty.
15:56Either I have read them myself, or my book reader, Sufer, has read them for me.
16:02Which book would Excellency Potiphar like me to read?
16:09I want you to read this to me tonight.
16:13This is a letter from Yusasif.
16:17I will read it to you.
16:21I will read it to you.
16:25I will read it to you.
16:29I will read it to you.
16:33I will read it to you.
16:37All right.
16:40This book predicts the future of Egypt.
16:49I don't know who wrote it.
16:53Whoever it was, their ideas are worth pondering.
17:08Egypt's power is not eternal, and the despotism ruling it shall not last forever.
17:14One day, all criteria shall change in Egypt.
17:17The poor and wealthy shall change places.
17:26This will happen after a bloody war.
17:30The wealthy shall lose their palaces and slaves,
17:35and Amman shall not be worshipped by anybody.
17:41People will come to power, and shall worship a god greater than Amman.
17:47I think that this prophecy will one day be realized.
17:53But how?
17:57I don't know.
18:05What are you thinking about, Yusasif?
18:10I think I know.
18:13That event can happen only by a heavenly man, or a divine savior.
18:21Only he can oust the wealthy and the oppressors, and destroy Amman,
18:27and other gods of Egypt and other parts of the world.
18:34Yes, I think I know.
18:38You are older than you look, Yusasif.
18:43How do you know these things?
18:52I think in addition to not worshipping Amman, you are hostile to it.
19:01Amman is nothing but stone.
19:03It wouldn't be rational to be hostile towards a stone.
19:12Look at you.
19:14You consider Amman not worth worshipping, nor despising.
19:22If Agmahu, the high priest, were to hear you, he would hang himself.
19:32But never express your opinion in front of others.
19:36Particularly Lady Zuleika. She worships Amman fanatically.
19:43May I ask, Your Excellency, what is it that you worship?
19:51I used to worship Amman.
19:55But now...
19:59I don't know.
20:03Don't tell anyone.
20:08Don't tell anyone.
20:12But I hate the priests of Amman Temple.
20:22May I ask why, Your Excellency?
20:28The temple priests are insolent and selfish.
20:34Instead of the interests of Egypt, they think only of their own interests.
20:43All right. That's enough.
20:47Go and rest.
21:03Good night.
