00:00Hey guys, another video for our Wheels in Japan playlist and our mini-series on crazy
00:04drivers in Japan.
00:06This video we're going to show you one thing that we've never seen before and one thing
00:10that we rarely see.
00:11The thing we've never seen before is somebody driving while holding a bowl and eating with
00:17chopsticks.
00:19Some sort of instant noodle type arrangement no doubt.
00:22He was driving along behind us doing that.
00:27No idea how he was steering, whether he was using a knee or something, but our backseat
00:32passenger noticed first, hey look at that guy eating noodles.
00:36We looked through the back window and there he was doing that while driving the car.
00:41No idea how he was doing it, but apparently he had an urgent need for some noodles.
00:49For every one person using a phone while driving that we show you, we probably see another
00:54million because every time we go in the car we see people doing this.
00:58We just give the kids the camera and they just sit in the back sticking it out the window.
01:04A red camera, they've got the window down as you can see, they're pointing it at this
01:08dude and he doesn't even notice.
01:11That's how absorbed phone zombies are in their phones when they're driving their cars.
01:16There's a kid pointing a red camera at him out the window and he's not even noticing.
01:21How observant is that?
01:23More scary than that is this, and again truck drivers seem to be the worst offenders.
01:28They seem to think because they spend all day in the truck they can sort of break the
01:31monotony by using their phone, but they are the worst.
01:35The scariest thing in the world, you look behind you and there's a truck behind you
01:39with a guy doing that or coming the other way, coming towards you, that's scary too.
01:46This one is actually illegal.
01:49Usually bicyclists run into each other and to run into pedestrians and run into cars
01:54now and again because they're staring at their phones while riding their bikes.
01:58So for that reason there is a law against it, they're not supposed to do it, not supposed
02:03to use the phone while riding a bicycle, but they all do it in the afternoon when the kids
02:07are coming down the hill from the high school.
02:10One in five is probably staring at the phone, something like that.
02:15Just obsessed, phone zombies abound in Japan, they just can't put it down long enough to
02:21actually travel somewhere, so they've always got to be either looking at it or talking
02:25on it or doing something with it.
02:29Don't seem to have the discipline to put it down just while they're traveling, you know?
02:37Sometimes while you're in the car it's nice just to look out the window, isn't it?
02:41Look at the view, or maybe just try to avoid running over kids at the crossing, you know?
02:46That sort of thing, it's good to look out the window now and again when you're driving
02:49the car.
02:50So of course we show you a lot when we're at traffic lights like this because that's
02:53the easiest time to capture the footage, but really we're doing it all the time.
02:57So here's the thing that we rarely see, we were sitting at an intersection on a small
03:03side street and there was a police car in front of us and this lady drove past holding
03:08her phone up to her ear and the cops put on their siren and off they went and pulled
03:12her over.
03:13So we rarely see, that's why people are using their phones all over the place because they
03:18rarely get caught for it.
03:20So that was really, really enjoyable to watch someone actually get caught doing it and given
03:25a penalty for it.
03:26Because it kills people, it kills people every year in Japan, that's why we're so dead set
03:31against it.
03:32Anyway, there was that, more videos coming soon!
