00:30quite soon in the in the second set got broken back but yeah then it went went
00:36on to five all and yeah I served it out pretty good and then in the third even
00:42in the third you're thinking like he's gonna come up with with something
00:46special and yeah I broke him again pretty quick got broken again back but
00:52yeah I think till 5-4 in the in the third I still had like yeah still had
01:00like something in the back of my mind like maybe he's come gonna come up with
01:04something special so yeah I I actually was thinking that the whole match well
01:10tremendous win congratulations thank you questions it's late in the back
01:15congratulations I know maybe it wasn't him at his best we don't know but what's
01:20it actually like facing Carlos like how how difficult is it and what makes it so
01:25difficult what makes him so special yeah I think he's playing unbelievable
01:28aggressive he's trying to come forward a lot and yeah today I tried to beat him
01:35to the punch a little bit there I tried to come in a lot to the net so he wasn't
01:42able to yeah I think I did a good job there but yeah he's someone who can do
01:48everything like when he gets a shot on the forehand he can play the drop shot
01:52he can yeah go for the winner go inside out go inside in so yeah I think he's
01:59doing he can do everything with the tennis ball and that is yeah what's
02:04facing him is unbelievable tough
02:08back in Roland-Garros after you lost there, there were some quotes that said from you that you were thinking of stopping maybe
02:17I'm curious how were you feeling back then and why has it taken like the
02:21journey from then to now to get to the point where you could beat Alcueres at this stage?
02:26yeah that's that's correct that was in was in Roland-Garros after Roland-Garros
02:32it took two couple weeks I didn't play for a couple weeks and played in
02:38Wimbledon again and from that point on I played a little bit more tournaments in
02:42Europe yeah you know the the tour is tough you can play well but you can only
02:50play like two matches a week if you play well for example yeah if you if you're
02:58not seated in the tournaments yeah you can face for example Sinner, Sinner
03:02first round, Sinner first round you can play yeah you can play tough opponents
03:06and you can play well but then still in the end you will lose a lot of lose a
03:11lot of matches so yeah I needed a little bit more more confidence in winning
03:15matches playing more matches so that's something I did after Wimbledon and I
03:21played a couple challengers in Holland not in Holland but in Europe I mean yeah
03:26try to try to play more matches in a row and I think that gave my confidence
03:32a good boost and yeah here we here we are now
03:35was it tough like initially kind of getting your head around going back to
03:41challenges after breaking through into a tour?
03:44yeah of course but I think it's I already had the tough part behind me
03:52dropping from 25 to dropping to 70 I think not being seated yeah and I was
04:01just happy to to play more matches to win more matches so actually yeah of
04:09course it's it's different than the ATP to play some challenges but
04:15yeah if I look back on it it wasn't wasn't really hard for me okay
04:21what considerations were you giving to retirement how seriously were you
04:28considering it and how do you look back on that period right now yeah at the
04:34time I said it I was I was thinking about it of course yeah it was just a
04:41more the way the way things were going I got injured last year still had some
04:50troubles with the injury from last year and that was for me like if I have to
04:55keep playing with yeah with the pain I had yeah then the then there was a was a
05:03chance maybe I would stop playing of course I would give myself to the end of
05:07the year and see how everything was progressing but yeah of course there was
05:14a serious thought and how do you look back on that now given what occurred
05:18tonight and what emotions are you experiencing right now actually right
05:24now not not not so many I'm still yeah maybe I'm still processing it maybe in
05:33a couple hours or tomorrow I feel feel a little bit more emotional with what
05:39happened tonight but yeah back to the back when I said it maybe I'm I'm
05:46thinking about retiring at that point I was I was just being honest last
05:51question congrats on the win you've had previous matchups with Carlos it sounds
05:56like you're very familiar with this game I was wondering what you felt was
05:59different from him today if anything and the positive takeaways you have
06:03beating him to the punch getting to the net earlier those things you want to
06:07apply in your matches going forward yeah what was different today I think I
06:15played a little bit different today normally when he's striking the ball you
06:20feel like the ball is coming with such impact so you get stressed a little bit
06:26like I want to hit harder or it's tough to control the ball that's what I felt
06:31like when I played him in Basel and Australian Open I think today I had a
06:37way better composure during yeah during the hitting so yeah I think that was
06:44that was the biggest difference for me
06:48sorry what was the lessons you had from getting to the net before he could yeah
06:54yeah I think that's something in my game when I'm playing well I coming a
06:59lot forward to the net yeah sometimes you have tough volley sometimes it's
07:05just to put away but yeah I think it suits my game really well and when I'm
07:11playing like this I I think I'm like confident in my own in my own game thank
07:17you thing looking ahead because one question because we have native
07:21sure just looking ahead given what you just accomplished what are your thoughts
07:26about the next match and the rest of the tournament yeah I think all the all the
07:34matchups are tough of course I think next round is Jack Draper I think a
07:42really good player having a good season this year big serve and big stroke so
07:47it's gonna be yeah it's gonna be again a really tough tough match yeah looking
07:54forward to the rest of the tournament of course I think everybody in the draw who
07:57still left in the draw are amazing players so yeah I think every matchup is
08:03gonna be a tough matchup
