Dmytro Kuleba has urged EU countries to take "bold decisions" and allow Ukraine to use donated weapons to strike deep into Russian territory.
Transcript
00:00EU's top diplomat Josep Borrell calls on EU allies to step up and agree on the use of
00:08their weapons against deeper Russian territory military targets, whilst pledging for the
00:13restrictions on weapons to be lifted, as he met with Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs
00:19in an informal meeting alongside their counterparts in Brussels.
00:23The weaponry that we are providing to Ukraine has to have full use and the restrictions
00:32have to be lifted in order for the Ukrainians to be able to target the places where Russia
00:39is bombing them. Otherwise, the weaponry is useless.
00:46Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that the move is essential for them and Ukraine
00:52intends to attack only legitimate military targets.
00:58One of the outstanding issues on our agenda is the permission for Ukraine to strike legitimate,
01:07I emphasize legitimate, military targets in the depths of Russia. And here we are mainly
01:12talking about airfields which are used by Russia to launch their bombers, strategic
01:18bombers and tactical bombers to attack Ukrainian forces and to attack Ukrainian citizen infrastructure.
01:25But both the US and the UK still prohibits Ukraine from using US tactical missiles and
01:31British-made storm shadow missiles for strikes deeper inside Russia. Other EU members believe
01:37that allowing Ukraine to hit deep into Russian territory with the weapons they provide could
01:43be a cause for escalation.
