From exclusive items to portion sizes, we wanted to find all the differences between the Burger King menus in Italy and the US. This is "Food Wars."
Transcript
00:00From calorie count to portion sizes,
00:02we wanted to find out all the differences
00:04between Burger King in Italy and the US.
00:07This is Food Wars.
00:10In Italy, our drinks come in three sizes,
00:13small, medium, and large.
00:16We're gonna measure the large one
00:17to see how much it actually contains.
00:20That's supposed to be 500 ml.
00:23I think we're getting close to 600, actually.
00:25140 ml extra.
00:28Burger King in the US,
00:29our fountain drinks come in four sizes,
00:31value, small, medium, and large.
00:35And the large is 38 fluid ounces or 1,120 ml.
00:40And now I would like to measure the largest
00:42and see if that's exactly how much they gave us.
00:48It's almost exactly 32 fluid ounces.
00:50It's not close to 38 ounces.
00:51Yeah, it says 38 in the bottom here.
00:53Hey, someone who works at Burger King
00:55or someone who works in fast food,
00:58why, why, why do they say,
01:01here's how big the cup is,
01:03and then clearly it's not that amount?
01:04What am I missing here?
01:05Every single place does it.
01:06Here in Italy, we have three sizes of fries,
01:09small, medium, and large.
01:11Burger King in the US,
01:12they got four fries sizes.
01:15Over here's the value,
01:17then the small, the medium, and the large.
01:23So I know that in Food Wars history,
01:26Burger King has actually lied to us.
01:27So let's see if they've been honest with me today in Italy
01:30and measure every single one of them.
01:32The sizes are working.
01:34Now the small is actually smaller than the medium.
01:37I have no proof of this.
01:38I think they saw our US versus UK Burger King episode,
01:41saw us, them call out hashtag Frygate 2021
01:45whenever we did that. Frygate 2020!
01:46And they're running scared,
01:47but they still trying to pull it over.
01:51A US Whopper.
01:52The Whopper's a fantastic sandwich.
01:56On to the nuggets.
01:58In Italy, they come in three sizes,
02:00a six-piece, nine-piece, and 20-piece.
02:04In the US, our nuggets come in three sizes.
02:07Two if you go into the restaurant, apparently.
02:09You get the four-piece or the eight-piece.
02:11But also on Uber Eats, an exclusive apparently,
02:15you get a 16-piece.
02:16Both Italy and the US serve onion rings.
02:19In Italy, they come in an eight-piece, 12-piece,
02:24and 16-piece.
02:30So we have four onion ring sizes.
02:32And I want to point out that for us,
02:33we just do it by cup size.
02:34We're not doing it by number of onion rings
02:36like they do in Italy.
02:37I have to say,
02:39they were very generous with the onion rings at ours.
02:41I mean, this is the value.
02:42This thing is overflowing with onion rings.
02:45The small, medium, and large.
02:49Here's everything that you can find at Burger King in Italy
02:53that you won't find in the US.
02:54And here's everything you can find on the menu
02:56at a US Burger King you can't get in Italy.
02:59Let's start with the burgers.
03:01In Italy, we have the Italian King Collection,
03:03which comprises these two burgers here.
03:05The first one is the Parma ham and scamorza burger.
03:09Scamorza is a cheese from South Italy, where I'm from.
03:13So scamorza, it's a bit like a mozzarella in a way,
03:16like they come from the same family of cheeses.
03:19They're made in a similar way,
03:20but scamorza, it's like aged for like a week,
03:24like not so much.
03:25So it's like a hard mozzarella.
03:27Let's see how it tastes in a burger.
03:29Nice.
03:31Not a fan of the onions.
03:33I think they overpower a little bit the taste of the cheese.
03:36Without maybe the patty,
03:38it does seem like a traditional Italian sandwich.
03:41And then we have the Parmesan burger.
03:44This one has bacon in it.
03:47Apparently when Burger King launched this burger,
03:50they had to buy something like 500 wheels
03:53of Parmigiano-Reggiano, which is like Parmesan.
03:55In Italy, they are the same thing.
03:58So quite a lot of wheels.
04:01I don't know, it feels like a dream
04:03to be in one of those rooms
04:04with like 500 wheels of Parmesan.
04:07It feels like, I don't know,
04:08next time you do it, please call me, Burger King.
04:11I'm coming to collect the cheese.
04:14Better this one than the other one.
04:15This one is a little bit less messy.
04:18The flavors come out individually.
04:20I can taste everything.
04:22Yeah, I like this one.
04:23Always on the Parmesan team.
04:25And then we got the Big King.
04:26This is supposed to be Burger King's version of the Big Mac.
04:30This one, it's slightly different to the US
04:33because it has an extra bun in the middle
04:37and apparently it has a special sauce
04:40that's supposed to taste like Thousand Island sauce.
04:44Very yellowy.
04:45I never had Thousand Island sauce.
04:47I don't think I've ever seen it even in a supermarket.
04:50This is a bit vinegary,
04:51like a bit like tartar sauce in a way,
04:54but I don't know.
04:58I'm not a fan, but I don't know.
04:59Maybe there's just like the aftertaste of pickles.
05:02That's also something I don't like.
05:04I know Joe doesn't like them.
05:05So yeah, there's two of us.
05:08Yes, Claudia dislikes pickles too.
05:10I'm so happy to hear that Claudia has impeccable taste.
05:13So for her to dislike pickles
05:15must mean that I also have impeccable taste.
05:17So me and Claudia, no pickle friends.
05:20And then we've got the Bacon Burger King 3.0.
05:24It's got three of everything.
05:25It's got three patties, three cheeses,
05:29and actually eight strips of bacon.
05:32It's so heavy.
05:34I mean, I'm gonna take this to the gym
05:35to use as like a proper weight.
05:38It just looks gross.
05:40It looks like, I don't know, like cement.
05:42I don't know how this is an exclusive to Italy.
05:45I feel like if I want to indulge,
05:46I'll just have two of something else
05:49that's a little bit less messy.
05:50There are eight strips of bacon though,
05:52and apparently they are different in Italy than in the US.
05:56So let's have a look.
05:58And then we've got the Bronx Steakhouse.
06:01If you are from the Bronx, does this look familiar to you?
06:05And then we have the Veggie Steakhouse.
06:11Same thing, just with a veggie patty.
06:14What is this?
06:15It's like veggie bacon.
06:17It's the first time I see it.
06:19Why is it brown?
06:21It looks like a candy.
06:25Tastes like salt and like frying oil.
06:28Not so much like bacon.
06:32Yeah, it does give you the feeling
06:34of like just having a regular burger.
06:37This is not technically vegetarian
06:38because it's cooked on the same grill as the meat patty.
06:42I guess this is a burger for people that eat meat
06:45that want to try a veggie option.
06:47The Veggie Steakhouse?
06:49That might be a translation error.
06:50I don't know if it could be a veggie and a steakhouse.
06:53Then we've got the Big King XXL.
06:56So bigger size than this one.
06:59This one has got two patties, four cheeses,
07:02and a special sauce.
07:04Bigger onions as well.
07:06Then we have the Plant-Based Whopper.
07:08And then we've got the Crazy Cheese Whopper.
07:12This one is a delivery exclusive,
07:15apparently for the cheese lovers.
07:17To be honest, as a cheese lover,
07:19what is this amount of cheese?
07:21Just, it's ridiculous.
07:22There was more in any other burger.
07:26It's just for the lovers of like weirdly hanging
07:29strips of bacon, maybe.
07:31All right, U.S. burger exclusive options
07:34starting right here at the Bacon Cheeseburger.
07:36Look how small this is, by the way.
07:38But as you can see, burger, got bacon,
07:42and cheese, believe it.
07:43Moving on to the Impossible Whopper.
07:45I think that's this one with the lettuce.
07:46Yep, Impossible is a brand of plant-based meat
07:49here in the United States.
07:50That is just that, made from plants.
07:53No animals were harmed in the making of this burger,
07:55I think.
07:56Something that should be noted,
07:58there is a disclaimer on the Burger King website
08:00that says, our Impossible meat is cooked
08:02in the same broiler as the regular meat.
08:04And also the mail on these burgers does have eggs in it.
08:08So, good effort.
08:12Texas Double Whopper, come on, Texas.
08:13Texas is a state in the United States
08:16that does everything bigger.
08:17So of course they have their own Whopper.
08:19It's a Double Whopper, double the size of a regular Whopper.
08:22Look at this, it's got double the meat.
08:24See that?
08:25And jalapenos on here,
08:28although they're kind of non-existent,
08:29but they're on there.
08:30In the U.S. we have the single quarter pound King.
08:32You saw that earlier, I absolutely destroyed it.
08:34I threw it away.
08:35But also we have a single Impossible King.
08:38Same thing as the Impossible Whopper.
08:40Why am I talking like this?
08:42Look at that.
08:43I mean, you could put this melted cheese
08:45on a piece of shoe leather
08:47and I wouldn't know the difference.
08:48We also have a Bacon Whopper Junior,
08:51which they didn't give us.
08:53Also a Big King, which they did not give us.
08:56I'm certain I ordered it.
08:58Anyway, what we do have is this, the Rodeo Burger.
09:00Ha-pow.
09:01This is a burger with barbecue sauce and onion rings.
09:03Man, really generous with the onion rings.
09:05Fun fact about the Rodeo Cheeseburger,
09:07it was created to coincide with the release
09:08of the film Small Soldiers in 1998.
09:11Another fun fact, in 1998,
09:14I worked at a movie theater in Schaumburg, Illinois
09:16that showed Small Soldiers.
09:18This was for some reason brought out in time with that movie.
09:23It was in the dollar menu, stayed on the menu.
09:25I guess you can see why, fun little burger.
09:27And the Small Soldiers' Chip Hazard,
09:29which is the name of the character,
09:30I didn't even know what his name was,
09:31advertised it by saying,
09:32you can't handle the Rodeo Burger.
09:34It was just like Jack Nicholson's line
09:35from A Few Good Men, you can't handle the truth.
09:38Here are all the chicken items
09:39that you can get at Burger King in Italy.
09:41Starting from the crunch chicken,
09:44fried chicken, mayo, lettuce, and tomato.
09:49You can also get a chicken bacon king,
09:51same thing as the beef one with eight strips of bacon.
09:56Next up, we have the chicken royale with bacon cheese.
09:59Why is this this shape?
10:02Does this look royal to you?
10:04Maybe it's just easier to eat?
10:05I don't know, but I'm not very intrigued.
10:08A lot of mayo here.
10:10And then we got the crazy cheese chicken BBQ.
10:13Yep, there's definitely barbecue sauce here.
10:16And then we got a plant-based nugget burger,
10:20which has mayo that is not vegan
10:22because obviously there's eggs in there,
10:24but there are three nuggets in there,
10:27which is quite funny, like a nugget burger.
10:30Here are most of the chicken options
10:32you can get at the U.S. Burger King.
10:34Starting down here, we got the BK Royal Crispy Chicken.
10:38Every time we do a Food Wars,
10:41Burger King's got a bunch of new chicken sandwiches
10:43because they're trying to compete with Chick-fil-A,
10:46and if you ask me, they losing.
10:48All right, this looks epitome of just okay.
10:52We also have a spicy version of the same sandwich,
10:56the Spicy BK Royal Crispy Sandwich.
10:59This one looks crispier.
11:01Much better.
11:02Not very spicy.
11:03Good flavor to it.
11:05Get that one.
11:05I also have a bacon and Swiss one,
11:07which I think is this one.
11:08All right, I'm gonna get a bite of the bacon and the Swiss.
11:11Tastes bacon-y.
11:12Typical of the Burger King.
11:14Something's popular,
11:15so they make a somewhat inferior version.
11:18You can also get the Honey Mustard BK Royal Crisp Chicken,
11:22blah-ba-dee-blah.
11:25This one also has bacon on it.
11:27The honey mustard's interesting.
11:29We also have a Chicken Jr.
11:31It's a little guy.
11:32This is basically the rip-off of the McChicken,
11:34a far more superior chicken sandwich.
11:40Another menu item that was available over the summer,
11:42but may be off the menu now,
11:44certainly wasn't the BK we went to here in Burbank,
11:47was the Italian BK Royal Crispy Chicken.
11:50Let's get that picture up on the screen.
11:52This would've been perfect for Food Wars,
11:53US versus Italy.
11:55Couldn't get my hands on it.
11:56Claudia, what do you think of this?
11:59I don't know.
11:59That doesn't look very Italian to me.
12:01I think if you put crispy chicken,
12:02that automatically makes it all Italian.
12:05Let's talk about wraps.
12:06We thought there were two.
12:08Actually, the grilled chicken is not there anymore,
12:12so we just got this crispy one.
12:15These wraps look very sad.
12:17I don't know.
12:18I feel like you could do better with the actual wrap itself.
12:21Here's what's inside.
12:23I don't know.
12:23The wrap is very pale.
12:24BK also has wraps.
12:26You can get pretty much each one of these chicken sandwiches
12:28in wrap form.
12:29I went ahead and got the spicy BK Royal Crispy wrap.
12:33I mean, all they're doing is taking,
12:34oh, so it's half a patty.
12:35I got a full patty, so you get half a patty,
12:37and all the stuff in wrap form.
12:38Like, what's the draw of this?
12:40If you want a wrap, just go someplace else.
12:42Couple other exclusive items that we got here.
12:45We got a taco at Burger King.
12:46I love tacos just as much as the next guy,
12:48but I mean, look how thin this is.
12:50It looks like the guy sat on it before he gave it to us.
12:52I'm curious.
12:54I can't be sure,
12:55but I think they put the barbecue sauce in there.
12:57That can't be right.
12:57If they did, that's terrible.
12:58Whatever it is, it's bad.
13:00Don't get it.
13:00This right here is the big fish.
13:02Look at this thing.
13:04What a nightmare.
13:05They put pickles on it, guys.
13:06Come on.
13:07Pickles on a fish sandwich.
13:10I really like the Filet-O-Fish.
13:12I should say that right now.
13:13I think it's a tasty sandwich.
13:15I don't know what they're putting in
13:16the Filet-O-Fish at McDonald's.
13:18Probably not a lot of fish,
13:19but I think it's very good.
13:20My favorite thing about the Filet-O-Fish
13:21is their tartar sauce.
13:22It makes and breaks the sandwich.
13:24For them, tartar sauce is fantastic.
13:25So one would assume that this square fish patty,
13:31correct me if I'm wrong,
13:32but no fish is naturally square.
13:34So this highly processed fish patty
13:37is drowning in a white sauce
13:39that should be a tartar sauce.
13:41And we're gonna find out if it's any good.
13:46It's a thicker bun.
13:48It feels like it needs more sandwich.
13:50Yeah, I actually kind of like that.
13:52I don't think it's better tasting than Filet-O-Fish,
13:53but it's still pretty good.
13:55Let's see what is in Italy's King Junior meal.
13:58As a main course,
13:59you can either get a four-piece nugget,
14:01a chicken burger, a hamburger,
14:03a cheeseburger, or a toast,
14:05which is what we've got today.
14:07And then you also get fries,
14:09a mini Kit-Kat, a drink, and a toy.
14:12Let's see what's inside ours.
14:14Here's our toast.
14:18Tiny fries.
14:21Cute.
14:24Kit-Kat.
14:25The drink, obviously, and a toy.
14:28What is this?
14:29It's like a glass.
14:31It doesn't really look like something
14:33you would give to your child
14:34if you were making their lunch.
14:36It is the plainest thing that you can get,
14:38and usually parents are a little bit wary
14:41of giving sauces and things that are too rich.
14:44Kid's meal options in the US,
14:46aka the King Junior.
14:48You can get either a cheeseburger
14:50or a four-piece nugget.
14:51I think we got the nuggets.
14:52And then your options are either fries,
14:53onion rings, or applesauce.
14:56They have a drink cup that is reusable.
15:00I think it's pretty nice.
15:01And you can also get milk.
15:03See, it says Junior right there.
15:04And for a toy...
15:09Spoon.
15:10No.
15:11The toy, they got nothing.
15:13I don't know if they forgot to give us a toy,
15:15or maybe they don't have toys.
15:16I mean, it's...
15:18What?
15:21Oh, you think because I ordered it as an adult,
15:22they're like, he doesn't want a toy?
15:25What, all work and no play for the J-Man?
15:26Come on, I want a toy.
15:28I think maybe, though...
15:30You think the puzzle's the toy in the bag?
15:33I don't know.
15:35So I don't think the spoon's the toy.
15:37So either they forgot the toy or you don't get one.
15:41We didn't get one.
15:42Exclusive sides we have.
15:44These are two of them.
15:45One thing I want to point everyone's attention to
15:47are these chicken fries.
15:50That's right.
15:50Chicken strips shaped like fries.
15:53Interesting fact about this box.
15:55It kind of like gets smaller here.
15:57This box was designed specifically
15:59to fit in a car cup holder.
16:02Because here in America, God forbid we stop and eat a meal,
16:05we have to eat and do something else.
16:07I think it's very funny because in Italy,
16:08it's like the meal is the event.
16:10It's a chicken fry.
16:12It's more of like a marketing thing to call this a fry
16:15because it's not a chicken tender,
16:18because tenders come from a specific part of the chicken.
16:21The fry is more like a chicken finger
16:23where it's made with whole muscle meat.
16:25They're really durable.
16:26They're really elastic.
16:27Don't you think if you're waving a piece of chicken like this
16:29it would have broken off by now?
16:31Look at this.
16:32Look at this.
16:33Why is this so like this?
16:35I think they taste fine.
16:37It's just a weird thing to be like on the menu still.
16:41I don't know anyone who's getting these.
16:42Mozzarella sticks.
16:44We should have asked Claudia before.
16:46Do mozzarella sticks even exist in Italy?
16:49I want to know.
16:50Because here in the U.S.,
16:51you can get these as a four-piece or an eight-piece
16:53with marinara sauce.
16:56These have been sitting for a while,
16:58but of course I'm wondering what kind of cheese pull
17:00we can get from these mozzarella sticks.
17:06Okay.
17:08Okay.
17:09Oh, not a bad one.
17:12That was just okay.
17:13These are our exclusive sides here in Italy,
17:16starting from these chili cheese bites.
17:18You can get them in a six-piece and a nine-piece.
17:21Doesn't look like there's chili in them.
17:23Let's try them out.
17:27They taste a bit too peppery, I think.
17:29I was expecting it just to taste spicy.
17:31Like, they taste like fresh chilies, which is nice.
17:34But I'm not sure what cheese is this.
17:36Then we've got plant-based nuggets as a six-piece.
17:40They look a bit green.
17:41Like, there's been, like, there's some filter on them.
17:45They taste actually like nuggets.
17:47I don't know if this is, like, fake chicken
17:51or it's just, like, vegetables,
17:53but they're quite good.
17:55And from the inside, they look like normal ones.
17:57You can then get bacon king fries with cheddar sauce.
18:01You can also get them without cheddar sauce,
18:04but here's the one we've got.
18:06You can also get chicken wings in a four-piece
18:09and an eight-piece.
18:10Here's how they look like.
18:12Just very tiny wings.
18:14When I was little, we used to go and, like,
18:17vacation in this town in, like, the south of Italy,
18:20in, like, a very small village.
18:21And the whole village on the 15th of August
18:25was celebrating with something that we call the alata.
18:29Ala means wing in Italian.
18:31And it was just, like, a big chicken wings party.
18:35The ones I'm used to, they were a little bit bigger
18:37and a bit more, like, light-colored.
18:41Let's see how these ones taste like.
18:45Ooh.
18:47Spicy.
18:49It's, like, a bit, yeah, like, a bit of a spicy sauce.
18:53Yeah, there's a lot of pepper in there.
18:55Nah, not a fan.
18:57Then you can get two types of toast,
18:59the king toast with Swiss cheese and ham.
19:02This is the same as in the kids' menu.
19:06And then you can get it with bacon and American cheese.
19:12And then we've got Griller fries,
19:15or maybe you call these waffle fries.
19:18But we actually have some packaged chips in Italy
19:22that are sold with this shape.
19:24Perhaps that's why they went with the fries.
19:26There is a tiny bit of spice in the after,
19:29like, in the aftertaste.
19:31Quite nice.
19:32They're doing waffle fries in Italy.
19:34That's a direct ripoff of the Chick-fil-A fries.
19:37Like, this company is shameless.
19:39If it's popular somewhere else, Burger King has it.
19:42That's their new slogan.
19:43And then we also have salads here in Italy.
19:45Technically, there are four options,
19:47but we were only able to get two.
19:50So the four options are just a mixed salad,
19:53crispy chicken, grilled chicken, and a tuna salad,
19:58which doesn't seem like something
19:59I would like to get at Burger King.
20:01Here we have a mixed salad.
20:04One thing I just, why are you serving the salad
20:07with the whole tomato?
20:09Who eats this?
20:10Like, why?
20:11And we have another one here,
20:12which was supposed to be the grilled chicken, I think,
20:15but it's another one of those mixed salads
20:20with those huge tomatoes.
20:21The salads can also come with some olive oil.
20:24It was actually given to us in a little sachet,
20:26but we can't find it.
20:28Sauce talk.
20:29Discorso delle salse.
20:31Sauce talk.
20:32Here are all the sauces that are exclusive to Italy.
20:35Well, technically exclusive,
20:36because they're all from Heinz.
20:39So you won't find this in the US.
20:41Heinz makes all the sauces here in Italy.
20:43We start from ketchup, then mayo,
20:47barbecue, sweet and sour sauce, curry mango sauce.
20:51Then we've got spicy tomato salsa,
20:54which sounds interesting.
20:57And then we've got cream honey mustard.
21:00The last one, which is not made by Heinz, is nocciolata.
21:04This is technically not a sauce.
21:06It's like a hazelnut and chocolate spread,
21:09a bit like Nutella.
21:10Yeah, this one, Rigoni di Asiago,
21:12is like some people would say the posh Nutella.
21:16It's a very nice and rich spread.
21:19Let's see, mango and curry.
21:21The color I was expecting.
21:22Nice.
21:23I'm surprised it's on the menu.
21:24Yeah, it does taste like curry-inspired sauce
21:28and, like, sweet, so maybe there is mango.
21:30I love the looks of the mango curry.
21:32I definitely want one of those.
21:33Can you please send it to me?
21:35Here are pretty much all the sauces you can get in the U.S.
21:38since they're not Heinz products, at least not labeled.
21:42Do you think Burger King makes their own sauces
21:43or do you think they're just going to the source
21:45and putting their own labels on it?
21:46I have no idea.
21:47Here we've got a barbecue sauce.
21:50I would love to try, when I go to Europe,
21:52like that's happening anytime soon,
21:53when I go to Europe, I want to try their barbecue sauces.
21:56I feel like what they think is barbecue
21:58and what we call barbecued can't be the same.
22:02That's a sweet barbecue sauce.
22:03I'd liken, like, a Kansas City barbecue.
22:05Very good.
22:06This is the zesty sauce.
22:08This tastes like a strong mustard.
22:10Not honey mustard, but sweeter than a regular mustard.
22:13Actually, it's closer to, like, a Dijon.
22:14It just says spices, doesn't say which ones.
22:17No, it's not bad, just I don't want that.
22:20Sweet and sour sauce.
22:22Come on.
22:23Open, like a normal, imagine if I was driving.
22:26Trying to heat my chicken, ah!
22:30I'd be on the opposite side of the road by now.
22:32Crashing into everyone.
22:33I'd be driving on the sidewalk, trying to open this sauce.
22:36All right, sweet and sour, come on.
22:38Buffalo sauce, for those of you not in America.
22:40Buffalo sauce is named after buffalo hot wings.
22:44It's that type of spicy sauce.
22:45Mm, you get wings, and now it's on everything.
22:47And no, it does not taste like buffaloes.
22:49It's from Buffalo, New York,
22:50where the sauce was, the recipe was made or perfected,
22:53I don't know.
22:55It's basically a hot wing sauce.
23:00I like buffalo sauce.
23:01I don't think, it's only good on chicken.
23:03When burgers or fries are dipping, it doesn't work.
23:05Last, we got ranch.
23:06This country is obsessed with ranch.
23:08I don't know why.
23:10It's kind of weird, but you got it everywhere in America,
23:14including Burger King, so.
23:17Ranchy.
23:18And this is Heinz ketchup.
23:21Wait, we have Heinz ketchup, and they have Heinz ketchup,
23:23so this isn't exclusive.
23:26But these sauces are.
23:27Biscuits, here in the US,
23:28we have a specific type of biscuit
23:30that is not a cookie or a scone.
23:32It's its own thing.
23:33Anyway, we can get just about every breakfast sandwich
23:36at Burger King in biscuit form.
23:38There's the bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit,
23:40sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit,
23:42smoky maple chicken biscuit,
23:43the ham, egg, and cheese biscuit,
23:45the egg and cheese biscuit,
23:47and the fully loaded biscuit.
23:49I'm not getting all of them.
23:50It's a waste.
23:50Here's two.
23:51I got the bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit.
23:53Personally, I think when it comes to breakfast sandwich,
23:55bacon, egg, and cheese is the gold standard.
23:57You can maybe do it a different way,
23:58but I think bacon, egg, and cheese
24:00is pretty much the best breakfast sandwich to get.
24:03Here it is.
24:04There's your egg, there's your bacon and cheese.
24:05There's the biscuit.
24:06It's very dry.
24:07I don't feel like trying it.
24:08And then also the fully loaded one.
24:09This is hilarious.
24:10When I get this, it's got a little bit of everything.
24:12Got the egg, got the sausage, got the ham,
24:14got the cheese, and the bacon.
24:16How does this look, Italy, huh?
24:19Breakfast is served.
24:20Let's go.
24:21Not only do we have that in biscuit form,
24:23we have the same exact type of sandwiches
24:25in croissant, excuse me, croissandwich form.
24:29Once again, Italy, your neighbors to the north, France,
24:32they invented the croissant.
24:34I'm sure all through Europe,
24:35you have amazing pastries, including croissants.
24:38Here in the US, we've absolutely ruined them
24:41by cutting them in half
24:42and sticking meat and cheese in the middle.
24:44So here we go.
24:45We got the bacon, egg, and cheese.
24:46Again, the gold standard.
24:48You can also get a ham, egg, and cheese,
24:50egg and cheese, smoky maple chicken croissandwich.
24:53God, that sounds horrible.
24:56Double sausage, egg, and cheese?
24:56I forgot about that.
24:57That's two patties of sausage, two slices of cheese,
25:00double the diarrhea in the morning.
25:01And of course, the fully loaded croissandwich.
25:06Our Cricut buddy is back.
25:09We will try to remove the Cricut audio in post,
25:12but sorry, everyone.
25:12We're filming this in the middle of the woods, apparently.
25:15We have sausage, egg, ham, bacon, cheese.
25:20Oh, God.
25:21Ugh.
25:24Cricut, do you want a bite of this?
25:25We also have breakfast burritos.
25:28This here is the egg-normous burrito,
25:31which has bacon, egg, cheese, a hash brown,
25:35and a spicy sauce.
25:37This is for someone who just wants your first hour
25:39once you punch in at work to be on the toilet.
25:41So if you're looking to poop on company time,
25:43maybe grab one of these on the way to work.
25:45Look at this.
25:46Guys, this is like,
25:48ah, I don't know what this is like.
25:51I've never seen anything like this.
25:53So of course I have to try it.
25:57Nope.
25:59Gross.
26:00And this next one is a breakfast burrito junior.
26:05So this one's for kids.
26:06Wanna get them started young.
26:07Look what they did.
26:08They put a hash brown at the beginning and the end.
26:10So you're gonna be like,
26:14oh, they must be loaded with hash browns.
26:18One at the entrance and the exit.
26:21Nice try.
26:22Also in the US, we're crazy about pancakes
26:26and we have the pancake platter
26:27and the pancake and sausage platter
26:29currently unavailable at the Burbank Burger King.
26:34In Italy, we actually don't have a breakfast menu
26:36at Burger King.
26:38To be honest, I don't think Italians would like to have
26:40what Joe has in his menu.
26:42Like a croissant filled with bacon and eggs
26:45doesn't seem quite right.
26:48I think most of us just have a sweet breakfast
26:51that usually is just the pastry and the coffee.
26:54It can be a very colorific pastry
26:56with like a lot of Nutella or another filling,
26:59but usually it's always sweet.
27:01Sounds like Claudia is implying that Italians
27:04like something a little more sweet,
27:06a baked good for breakfast.
27:07So we do have some of those in the US
27:10and we do have some of those obviously at Burger King
27:12going on down here, starting off.
27:14We got French toast sticks.
27:17France, as you are aware, is a country
27:20that's right above Italy and they have their own toast.
27:22And we have that in stick form and this is them.
27:25And it also comes with a dipping syrup.
27:27What's more French than that?
27:29Look at this, look at this.
27:31I know it's Food Wars Italy,
27:33but Food Wars France has gotta be right around the corner.
27:36Any French person watching this right now
27:38is gonna have a heart attack.
27:40But I mean, you have no idea how sweet this is.
27:45Also, we have these hash brown bites.
27:47Hello, guys.
27:50Desserts, sweets.
27:52Oh, how we have it in the US at our Burger King.
27:54You can get a Hershey's sundae pie,
27:57not sundae day of the week, sundae as in
28:00like a ice cream sundae, right?
28:04And I mean, look at this, look at this, right?
28:08Look at this, how gooey that is.
28:11Ooh, come on.
28:14Also at Burger King, you can get soft serve ice cream.
28:17I didn't get it because we've been in the studio
28:19for a couple hours and it's very hot
28:21and it would have melt.
28:22Anyway, you can also get chocolate chip cookies.
28:24Hey.
28:26And a variety of shakes, a vanilla shake,
28:29a chocolate shake, a chocolate Oreo shake
28:31and this, the Oreo shake.
28:33Every time we do a fast food place
28:35that has a shake, the Oreo shake, I get it.
28:38I think that Oreo, as far as branded cookies,
28:41snack, shakes, you get a lot of these fast food places.
28:44The Oreo is the best one.
28:47Why do you ask?
28:48Looks like a vanilla and chocolate shake, right?
28:50Wrong, it isn't vanilla.
28:51It's the Oreo cream flavored shake
28:55with Oreo chocolate cookies in it.
28:57Just, I'm telling you.
28:59Oh my God, so good.
29:01Oreo is the best shake, hands down.
29:03Mm.
29:04So onto the dessert options here in Italy.
29:07These are the ones that we were able to get
29:10but actually there are a bunch of others
29:12and we're gonna put them all on screen here.
29:14That includes a lot of ice cream,
29:17like sandwiches and milkshakes
29:20but we were not able to get them.
29:22So this is what we've got today.
29:23We've got nocciolata pancakes
29:25and then we've got nutty cheesecake,
29:29crown caramel souffle.
29:31I think if you call something lava cake, you will expect.
29:34I mean, I'm sure like half of your customers
29:36will think that you actually put lava in there.
29:38Yeah, and I was saying earlier,
29:39nocciolata is actually a very popular spread here in Italy.
29:42It's like a hazelnut and chocolate spread.
29:44I was expecting it to be much thicker.
29:49Let's see.
29:54Quite nice.
29:57Yeah, the pancakes are okay.
29:59It's really delicious.
30:00It tastes much strong, like much more like hazelnuts
30:04than Nutella does.
30:06Like these two are like competitors.
30:08Approved.
30:10We can also get some milkshakes.
30:12The exclusive ones are Nesquik, Nescafe and Orym.
30:16Drinks to the U.S. Burger King.
30:18We have a lot.
30:19Fountain drinks, for instance.
30:20It's a fountain drink cup.
30:21I wasn't gonna get all these
30:22because it's just super hot.
30:24It's a pain in the butt to get the stuff here.
30:25All the other drinks have melted.
30:27Told you I'm wearing the shirt.
30:28It's hot in here.
30:29We have something called frozen drinks.
30:31You get a frozen Coke and a frozen wild cherry
30:34and also frozen blue raspberry, which is not available.
30:37This was more of a slush consistency
30:40for melted in this 80 degree studio.
30:43What?
30:44Oh, we also got milk.
30:46Okay.
30:47Anyway.
30:50I mean, not bad.
30:51I mean, it's still pretty cold,
30:52but yeah, usually this is a lot more like ice-like, icy.
30:56There's a wild cherry.
30:57Oh yeah.
30:58We have coffee drinks.
30:59You can get an iced coffee.
31:00This used to have ice in it and a hot coffee.
31:03And of course, who doesn't like to relax
31:06with a room temperature fat-free milk?
31:09That'll wash down your burger.
31:11Here are all the drinks that are exclusive
31:13to Italy Burger King.
31:15Starting from this very cute bag of orange juice.
31:19Then we've got some tea.
31:22We've got peach and rose, fancy,
31:26and lemon and lemongrass.
31:28We've got Monster Energy,
31:31which has been delivered in a bit of a funny shape.
31:35And then we've got beer.
31:36You can either get Heineken or Ignusa,
31:39which is a Sardinian beer.
31:41Some Burger Kings will also serve a full range of coffees,
31:45espresso coffees,
31:46because that's what coffee means to us.
31:49But because we got our food and drinks delivered,
31:51we actually were not able to select coffee,
31:54so we couldn't get any today.
31:56Burger King, in my point of view,
31:59is like fast food's little brother.
32:02It's always like trying to be like the Big Dogs.
32:06It's always trying to be like McDonald's.
32:07It's always like whatever is good,
32:10Burger King has like kind of a later,
32:13crummier version of it.
32:14Now I will say the Whopper is a fantastic sandwich.
32:18I love the Whopper.
32:19I get it occasionally.
32:20But everything else on Burger King's menu,
32:22thumbs down.
32:23Everything else on Burger King's menu, thumbs down.
32:26Or at least there's something else that's better
32:28than whatever they're offering.
32:30You know, Burger King,
32:31I only eat there when it's the ultimate convenience,
32:34which is rare,
32:35because I don't know if a lot of people
32:37outside of the U.S. knew this,
32:39but Burger King's strategy
32:40is to build a location close to a McDonald's.
32:45Did you know that?
32:46So McDonald's does all this research
32:48about where to position their restaurants strategically,
32:52traffic patterns, rent and locations,
32:55all that stuff.
32:56McDonald's has a whole department of people
32:58to figure that out.
32:58And then Burger King's like,
32:59I will build one across the street from that McDonald's.
33:01That's for real.
33:02Like that's their vibe on everything.
33:04So I don't know what it's like in other countries,
33:06but in Burger King, you're just like,
33:07oh, Burger King.
33:09In Italy, I think Burger King goes
33:12pretty much hand in hand with McDonald's.
33:14Obviously it's been there for a little bit less time.
33:17Burger King is quite popular in Italy.
33:19They currently have 232 outlets.
33:23KFC has only got 50 branches here in Italy,
33:27although they are still behind McDonald's
33:29that has 630 branches.
33:32Like some of us have said,
33:33most of us have celebrated birthdays at McDonald's.
33:36So obviously we do have some memories
33:39and like something that brings us back to it.
33:41I think it's also a little bit more expensive
33:44compared to McDonald's.
33:45And maybe that's one of the reasons
33:47why people would choose one instead of the other.
33:51Even though there are some Italian ingredients in the menu,
33:54Burger King is still pretty much considered
33:58the American option
34:00or like the American fast food chain.
34:03Whereas McDonald's has sort of got rid
34:06of the American fast food chain
34:08as just the fast food chain, if that makes sense.
34:11They are the first chain that has removed preservatives
34:14and colorants from food,
34:16but there are quite a few items that we've seen today
34:18that look very shiny and like very colorful.
34:21And I would really like to know
34:23how do you make your cheese so yellow without colorants?
34:26Like, why?
34:27Like, how is that even possible naturally?
34:30Rivals?
34:31I don't know.
34:32Would you consider McDonald's rival?
34:34That's like me saying The Rock's my rival.
34:36Like, yeah, rivals, but like, come on.
34:40I don't think he's sweating
34:41that I'm out there doing videos as well.
34:43Uh, there's no, there's no, no, no one's,
34:46I mean, Wendy's, I guess.
34:51Let's talk about prices.
34:52In Italy, a Whopper is 60 euros, 50 cents,
34:56which is about $7.27.
34:59If you want to make that a meal
35:01with a medium-sized drink and medium fries,
35:03that's gonna cost you 11 euros
35:05and that's about $12.30.
35:09And in the US, a Whopper will cost you $6.89
35:12or 6 euros and 16 euro bites.
35:17I don't know what the, what?
35:19Is it cents?
35:19All right, everyone, relax, it's cents.
35:21There you go, all right.
35:22So 6 euros and 16 cents.
35:25Now that's a 6% decrease in price.
35:28How do you like that?
35:30If you're making a meal
35:31with a medium fries and medium drink,
35:33it will cost you $12.18
35:35or 10 euros and 95 euro cents.
35:39So it actually works out cheaper
35:40to get a Whopper meal in the US
35:43rather than in Italy,
35:44but just buy a few cents.
35:46$12?
35:48I guess I'm used to it,
35:49but if you come to think of it,
35:50it's a lot more expensive
35:53than what I initially thought.
35:55Yeah, I mean, I don't even think
35:56it's that good of a deal.
35:57It's not like too expensive,
35:58but I think like,
35:59well, 13 bucks or whatever,
36:0112-something plus tax for all this is like,
36:03eh, might as well get something better.
36:07The prices seem fair.
36:08It is a little bit more expensive than McDonald's,
36:10but also the burgers are a little bit bigger,
36:13and it's definitely almost half the price
36:15as like the Five Guys.
36:16I think 11 euros is fair,
36:18but if you start getting close to like 15,
36:22that's where I think I would like to sit down
36:24at a restaurant,
36:25and that's probably the price of like a main course
36:28at like a restaurant here in Milan.
36:30So 11 euros was just below,
36:34just below like the restaurant line, let's say.
36:36As the Whopper is Burger King's
36:38number one best-selling item,

36:42In Italy, a Whopper contains 683 calories.
36:46Our US Whopper contains all this.
36:49If you make that a meal
36:50by adding medium fries and a medium Coke,
36:52the total is this.
36:54Making the grand total this.
36:58The most calorific item on the menu here
37:00is the Bacon King 3.0
37:04at 1,342 calories.
37:07That is a lot for a burger.

37:24and it would have melt.
