00:00While the sun may be beating down on Medway, across the river Tyne Christmas is firing
00:07up for the festive season with just days away from the grand reopening in a fresh and new
00:14space.
00:15But with more than three months until December, is it a little too early?
00:22It's a big run up so people are thinking about it and it's something to look forward to.
00:26So you know there's not long to go so people are like well what are we doing?
00:30So to be honest it's never too early for us so what I would say is it's only four paychecks
00:36till Christmas.
00:37That's the way to look at it so there's not a lot of time.
00:39It's clear then that Tyne Christmas don't think it's too early to get ready for the
00:45festive season and they have come prepared.
00:49As far as the eye can see there's candy canes, there's baubles, there is wrapping paper and
00:56it is in fact the biggest Christmas shop in the UK now and that means an expanded winter
01:03wonderland experience where they showcase all their lights.
01:07Last year thousands flocked from across the five towns to see the display, to come along
01:12to their Grinch days and this year promises to be even better.
01:17I can't show you any of it just yet, the grand opening is this Saturday so no spoilers from
01:23KMTV.
01:24But I do wonder are people on Rochester high street a little bit more bar humbug about
01:31early Christmas?
01:32When is too early to celebrate Christmas?
01:36Now.
01:37Yeah now.
01:38September.
01:39September as well?
01:40Yes.
01:41Yes.
01:42October I would think.
01:43September.
01:44Me personally I don't like celebrating Christmas until the first of December.
01:51Christmas for me is when the Christmas tree goes up, I like to start getting my Christmas
01:54shopping but it is nice to start seeing some bits up a little bit before.
02:01I think it's a shame when people put it up way too early because then it's a long time
02:05for the children to wait.
02:07Yeah but they don't appreciate what it's for, if it's too early that's why they just get
02:13a bar of chocolate.
02:14I mean when you were a younger mum at Christmas, what was it like for you?
02:19You never waited from October did you?
02:22No.
02:23It was like a week before.
02:25There you have it, Rochester says bar humbug to the August advent.
02:32But love it or hate it, it's clear for some the countdown for Christmas has already begun.
