00:00My name is Sneha and I have been listening to you for almost 3 years.
00:08Through your videos, I have taken many major decisions in life.
00:12One decision was to get separated from my husband.
00:16Though he is also a very avid fan of yours.
00:19In fact, he encouraged me to come and attend your session today.
00:23This is a bit background about me.
00:27My question is regarding one of the commentaries by Sri Aurobindo Ghosh
00:34in a book called Upanishad. Commentaries on Upanishad by him.
00:38He has mentioned that everything is rising and falling
00:43to merge in one vast consciousness.
00:47Everything that is happening in the universe.
00:50Now, certain times during meditation, there is this realization.
00:56The realization of this fact, what he says, for a nanosecond.
01:00Mind, though it realizes it, how does it hold this truth for a longer time?
01:05Because it goes away.
01:07It just comes, that realization comes for a very fluke second.
01:12By not seeing things as they are not.
01:16You see things as if they are permanent.
01:19As if they are things.
01:21As if they exist.
01:23Whereas they are just flowing.
01:25They don't exist.
01:27They are just processes.
01:29When you see everything as just a flow,
01:33then you realize it has no permanence, no existence.
01:37It's gone. Finished.
01:40But that requires a very courageous mind
01:44to continuously see things as rising and falling,
01:50continuously appearing and disappearing.
01:54We do not always summon that kind of courage.
01:59We let attachment dominate us.
02:06And then the world appears as truth,
02:15not as something that is en route to a disappearance or dissolution or liberation.
02:26You'll have to continuously practice detachment.
02:35You'll have to be continuously on guard.
02:41There are no things.
02:47There are only waves.
02:52Waves.
02:55Right?
02:57The crest and the trough.
03:00Fab and the flow.
03:07And then you can see.
03:11Alright, alright, alright, alright, alright.
03:14Came.
03:17Gone.
03:19It is.
03:21And then it is not.
03:25You'll have to practice going a little beyond,
03:29sometimes a little against your senses.
03:33The senses are not subtle enough to capture
03:39the moment-to-moment appearance, change and disappearance.
03:47Right?
03:48As you are looking at me, you will feel you have a person sitting in front of you
03:53and the person is just the same as he was when he was answering the previous question.
04:00That's not true.
04:03Right?
04:05Things have changed.
04:09They are not things.
04:11They are just a process, an ever-changing mass of flow.
04:21Then one is liberated of the biggest obstacle to freedom.
04:33Belief in existence.
04:36Belief in permanence.
04:40It's one and the same thing to say that all this is not permanent
04:43and to say that all this does not exist.
04:46Because when we say something exists,
04:49we accord it permanence at least for a while, no?
04:53When we say this exists.
04:55By that we mean that this will stay at least for two days, ten days, twenty days.
05:00Right?
05:01So, impermanence is the same as non-existence.
05:09When there is non-existence, then only truth exists.
05:18So, can I ask a question?
05:20So, as you said, I mean what I take away is that it's the practice.
05:26I mean the mind has to remind itself continuously on a regular frequency.
05:33Because mind is generally prone to separation, fragmentation.
05:37It loses the track immediately.
05:40So, that needs immense attention all the time.
05:43And courage and stamina.
05:46When you do it once, twice, thrice, it is okay.
05:49Then you get tired and bored.
05:52Plus there are temptations.
05:55It is pleasurable to believe that you will last or she will last or he will last.
06:02There is security in that.
06:04Comfort in that.
06:06So, I said we do not summon the requisite courage.
06:12Always be courageous.
06:15Always.
06:16Even in the moment of impending pleasure, be courageous enough to block it.
06:24You see, this pleasure is at the cost of truth.
06:28This pleasure is only if I make myself deliberately oblivious to the truth.
06:36Only then I can have this pleasure.
06:39Then I will not have this pleasure.
06:41The truth is paramount.
06:43And when you say the truth is paramount, then what you get is the pleasure of the truth.
06:48And that's a higher pleasure than ordinary pleasures.
