00:00Traffic partially opens on the Moradabanga-Kuseri Road as rehabilitation works continue on the
00:25section that provoked an interruption of circulation.
00:34The back-to-school fever gathers momentum across Cameroon as registers open for
00:40enrolment while campuses are shining up in readiness for the new school year.
00:46Game over for Cameroonian flag bearers at the continental football competitions as
00:57Victoria United and Kofu of Baham are bundled out by the Ghanaian and Liberian openings.
01:06Those are our lead stories. Hello, I am Ben Menopufo in Yaounde and this is The 730.
01:14The Moradabanga-Kuseri Road was in the headlines this weekend following the
01:22interruption of circulation on that particular section of the road that got barred.
01:29The Rehabilitation Public Works Minister, Emmanuel Ngannu-Diomessie,
01:34says the road will remain open for persons and goods,
01:39concomitantly with the ongoing rehabilitation works.
01:44Mukwele Prince Will Aduma comes back on the Minister's declaration to the press yesterday.
01:53Moradabanga-Kuseri, over 30 eroded spots jerking and jostling movement.
01:58The stretch suffers a degree of degradation to which the Minister of Public Works
02:03states what is and what is not. Traffic has not been stopped.
02:07The equipments you saw were mobilized by the Minister of Public Works to go and remove
02:15this vehicle, this big, big tipper which is not respecting our law and regulation.
02:21The road is passing now. What we are asking for the drivers is that they should be disciplined,
02:26that they should collaborate with the force of law and order.
02:29Mr Emmanuel Ngannu-Diomessie is nevertheless convinced with leading factors to the wear and
02:35tear on the National Road No. 1. The time of using the road is over already.
02:41They must be reconstructed. When you have rains, you should make sure that gutters are available,
02:47the canalization are available to make water to flow. It's an issue of people not respecting
02:55tonnage and that contributes also to destroy the road.
02:59To this end, the Minister has ordered the prohibition of heavy-duty trucks whose
03:03dimensions and loading is in contravention with regulations in force.
03:08We have organized the construction in five lots. One lot has already been attributed
03:17and the contractor is working. The lot moving from Mora to Chakamari.
03:22That is why we should be talking of Chakamari-Kusiri.
03:26With same promptitude, the Ngaundere-Garua,
03:29Duala-Edea and Mile 16-Boya stretches are well on course.
03:34We are working on Mile 16. We have already launched a tender to select another contractor.
03:41The rains beating no doubt, no stopping to government action.
03:47And the problem that interrupted traffic on the Mora-Dabanga-Kusiri road
03:53is currently being fixed with traffic resuming, though partially.
03:58As Beatrice Losamba reports, heavy-duty vehicles are forbidden from using the road for now.
04:08Sections of the road linking Mora to Dabanga and Kusiri
04:12have given way under the weight of heavy rains and traffic.
04:16This has prompted urgent road works coordinated by the Divisional Delegation of Public Works
04:21for the Lugun and Shari. To rescue the road from further damage and make this
04:26important section of the Cameroon-Chad corridor accessible again, machines fetch impenetrable
04:32rocks from the quarry in Waza, some 75 km from the affected area.
04:38This way, sustainability is guaranteed.
04:41Due to ongoing works, traffic tends to be altered now and then,
04:45necessitating huge mobilisation of traffic stakeholders to ease the situation.
04:52We are targeting areas of the road which could contribute in completely stopping traffic.
04:58A constant parallel to the works is huge sensitisation of road users
05:03by the local administration.
05:04The major highway, Dabanga, Matam, Kusiri, the road is passing now.
05:11What we are asking for the drivers is that they should be disciplined.
05:14What we are requesting on the drivers is that they should collaborate with the force of law
05:18and order.
05:19As a precautionary measure, movement of heavy-duty vehicles
05:23has been prohibited on this road until a complete remedy is done.
05:29Let's now listen to Cameroon's Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganyu Jumeisi,
05:34as he throws light on why heavy-duty trucks as well as other vehicles that are not respecting
05:41weight limits have been banned from using that road for now.
05:45I have decided to, you know, prohibit the circulation on that section of the road
05:56for the sixth coming month for all those vehicles who do not respect our rules and regulations.
06:02Our rules and regulations are very simple.
06:04Tonnage 3.5, length not more than four metres, length,
06:12not more than four metres, length, not more than 2.5 metres wide.
06:22So that is the situation on Mora, Dabanga, Kusiri.
06:32Let's move on to other developments in the news now.
06:35Three people have died and huge material damage recorded following torrential rains that hit
06:43on the town of Yagua in far north Cameroon.
06:47As municipal and administrative authorities are leading rescue and safety operations on the ground,
06:55the locals are crying for help and for the authorities that need to come over
07:01and rescue them from sinking under the waters.
07:04From Yagua, Amos Enonyaketabo reports.
07:10The Njibetsu neighbourhood in Yagua and waters are on the same spot.
07:15Residents' mobility have been affected.
07:19After the torrential rains, people have to fight their way through the waters.
07:24Animals are looking for shelter or at least what is left of it.
07:29Some houses have been destroyed by the waters.
07:32Kitchen utensils are not spared.
07:35Families are trying to salvage what is left if they can move.
07:39For the past few days, life in the Njibetsu neighbourhood has become increasingly difficult.
07:47As schools across Cameroon are getting set to start receiving students and pupils for the opening of the new year,
08:15home schools are already busy with cleaning up the environment that will accommodate the
08:22students when they come back.
08:24While hygiene and sanitary conditions are of prime concern to some,
08:29others are busy refurbishing and repainting classrooms and buildings.
08:36Clovis Bawe saw it all happen in some schools in Yaounde today.
08:42It is Operation Clean School here at Government Bilingual Technical High School, Lomkak.
08:48School officials are weeding out dirt in order to make the environment be fitting for learning.
08:56We have started with general cleaning.
08:58After this, we will start renovating and replacing demolished equipment.
09:02As far as painting is concerned, we will only paint some areas where it is necessary.
09:08At this primary school establishment, a similar exercise is going on.
09:12The entire building is bright with a new coat of paint.
09:16But besides the outer appearance, hygiene and sanitation is a priority.
09:22We have done some modifications on our toilets.
09:25We have added new ones so as to meet the needs of our pupils.
09:29These toilets will be cleaned three times a day.
09:31Meanwhile, Christian Comprehensive Secondary School Nkombong
09:35has actively involved in the clean-up campaign before classes resume.
09:39The school compounds swept and flower-streamed
09:42indicate the institution is set to welcome its students.
09:46We have bought trash cans to enable the students not litter the campus
09:50but to drop in the new trash cans.
09:52We have done paintings on areas that needed paintings.
09:56The beds of some of the dormitories have been refurbished.
10:01The class benches have been reconstructed for those that have broken portions.
10:07All of that has been done.
10:08As the clock ticks, every school is doing everything to ensure
10:12that students begin the next school year on a clean note.
10:18Meantime, refugee and forcefully displaced young people in Nkombong
10:23have been given the opportunity to learn, thrive and develop their potential
10:29as the new school year approaches in Cameroon.
10:32PLAN International and the UNHCR jointly launched a campaign in Nkombong today
10:39to mobilize stakeholders and the education community
10:43to increase the school enrollment rate for refugee boys and girls.
10:50Gladys Atemba, CHU Mabana, reports from Douala.
10:55Recent statistics of the UN Refugee Agency indicate that there are about 15,500 refugees
11:02and asylum seekers, as well as 64,000 internally displaced persons in the Littora region.
11:08Among them are children of school-going age who unfortunately face difficulties being enrolled in school.
11:14These obstacles to school enrollment, according to the project coordinator for PLAN International,
11:19are as a result of certain barriers.
11:21You have the institutional barriers.
11:24We know the government is doing a lot.
11:25We know that government schools are free,
11:27but we don't have enough government schools that this refugee community can fully integrate themselves.
11:33Equally, we have cultural barriers, the psychological barrier.
11:36Most of them are already stressed.
11:38And we have the economic barrier.
11:40This 2024-2025 Back to School campaign that has been launched in Douala
11:45is thus a means to increase the enrollment rates of refugee children in the pre-primary,
11:50primary, secondary, and higher education levels.
11:53A goal officials of PLAN Cameroon say can be achieved by popularizing the concept of refugees,
11:59developing and increasing collaboration between state governments,
12:03and the UN Refugee Agency.
12:05A goal officials of PLAN Cameroon say can be achieved by popularizing the concept of refugees,
12:10developing and increasing collaboration between state partners and community leaders,
12:15as well as raising awareness among partners of their rights and duties
12:19with regard to the schooling of refugee children.
12:22This ceremony to launch the 2024-2025 Back to School campaign
12:28was marked by the award of school kits to some refugee children
12:32The school map of Dogba locality in the Diamaree division of the Far North region of Cameroon
12:40has been enriched with a modern nursery school constructed and donated to the community
12:47by the Jean Felicien Foundation.
12:49The 25 million CFA funds edifice comes to improve the quality of school infrastructure in the area
12:57and to encourage young students, young children to go to school.
13:01Sylvester Atemke completes that story from Marwa.
13:07In the Far North, considered as an education priority zone,
13:10public and private sector efforts continue to serve as an important tool in promoting quality,
13:15accessible and relevant education through the provision of facilities and direct support.
13:20It is in this vision that the Jean Felicien Gatcha Foundation has constructed and equipped
13:25a nursery school in the locality of Dogba in Diamaree and handed it to the community,
13:29which to its vice president Olivia Kudjia is part of their commitment to levelling the playing field
13:34and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to pursue their dreams.
13:51The move, according to the elites of Dogba and the population,
13:54is crucial in rewriting the narratives of the children to ignite
13:57possibilities and transform futures.
13:59On behalf of the community, the Lamidu of Marwa, Ehash Abdullahi Yerima Bakari
14:05and the sub-divisional officer for Marwa II saluted the Jean Felicien Gatcha Foundation
14:10for the choice of Dogba, which is timely to bridge the educational gap in the community.
14:28A group of scammers who were arraigned for allegedly extorting billions of CFA funds
14:38from some government officials and businesspersons were presented to the press in Nyande today.
14:45They duped their victims with calls from unattributed phone numbers,
14:51passing and impersonating as the Rear Admiral Joseph Fouda,
14:56head of the camp of the President of the Republic.
15:00Romeo Nkenye saw the playback.
15:21695-7901-41. That number is a fake number used by a fake person
15:31who presents himself as the general.
15:34The suspect also produced 408 counterfeit US dollar notes.
15:38Their network expands beyond Cameroon.
15:41There are those documents that were written and signed, addressed either to the head of state
15:49or to the special advisor, Rear Admiral Fouda, but they were fake ones.
15:54Among them is a dismissed military officer who was the game planner.
15:59They also had some influencers, as they call, in social media, the well-known as
16:05Patrice Numa in the US, or Boise Berthold in France, with whom they were connected.
16:12They will appear before the military prosecutor for further investigations.
16:20Cameroon's Minister of Economy, Alamin Ousmane May, today held talks
16:24with the President of the Turkey Cameroon Business Council, Ishan Sahin.
16:31After the discussions that held in Cameroon, the Turkish businessman opened up to our reporter,
16:37Laurel Bate Eya, on the main trusts of the OTT.
16:44Great potential is full in this country.
16:46We are also here to invest in the economy of Cameroon that is of joint venture.
16:50We are here to share new models of investment and techniques to new investors and SMEs.
16:56So if we share our expertise, we know the local startups will gain from our potentials.
17:02And this will help to promote cooperation ties between the two countries.
17:08We now go over to the east region of Cameroon, where the second phase
17:13of the emergency projects to fight food insecurity in Cameroon
17:20is off and running in Gambula, in the east region of Cameroon.
17:24Agriculture and Rural Development Minister, Gabriel Mbairobe,
17:29conducted the launching ritual in a ceremony during which the small-scale farmers of that
17:36part of the country received some substantial assistance from the Food and Agriculture
17:41Organization. From CRTV East, Celestine Sumbele reports.
17:49Agricultural productivity of small-scale farmers in the east region and fight against food insecurity
17:54in rural areas and the country, the Minister of Agriculture, Gabriel Mbairobe, has launched the
17:59second phase of the emergency project to fight against food insecurity in Gambula village,
18:03in the Manju subdivision. In order to increase their productivity and their production,
18:09the FAO gives them improved seeds and seedlings. You have cassava cuttings, you have banana peels.
18:16The FAO gives them tools. The State Development Partner, FAO,
18:20supports the livelihood of these small-scale farmers in many ways.
18:24Through farmer field approach, farmer field school approach, we can touch many farmers
18:29in one cycle of production. And farmer field school approach is learning by doing.
18:36Through the learning by doing, we improve the capacity of farmer.
18:40With the high influx of Central African refugees in the east region,
18:44this project is expected to eradicate hunger. This area received a lot of IDPs,
18:51and we are here to help the people to express the solidarity of our country.
18:58The farmers were encouraged to continue in the fight against food insecurity,
19:02and a visit of some of their stands marked the end of the ceremony.
19:08On to sports now. Cameroon has been bundled out of the African Champions League and the
19:16CAF football competition as Victoria United and FVU of Baham crushed at the early stage of the
19:23two competitions. The Cameroonian sides were beaten home and away by the Ghanaian and Liberian
19:32sides. Gilbert Ongene reports on the early exit of Cameroon's flag bearers.
19:40In the CAF Cup competition, FVU of Baham, who showed up with just eight players in Monrovia,
19:46Liberia, were humiliated by home side Painesville, four goals to nothing. The team fell again
19:54one week later, this time on home soil in Yaoundé, zero goals to one to the same opponent
20:00in the return match. The boys of coach Charlemagne Bongo are thus eliminated on a score
20:07of zero goals to five on aggregate. In the CAF Champions League, Victoria United stumbled twice
20:15in front of their Ghanaian opponents, Samatex FC, home and away, beating one goal to nothing
20:23in each of the outings. That the attack line of these two Cameroonian clubs vying for a place
20:30in the second round of the CAF Cup and Champions League could not score a single goal in their
20:36four matches is a clear indication that local football in the country is sick and is begging
20:44for an appropriate diagnosis and treatment.
21:00The weekend was action-packed for some of the Cameroonian footballers who plied their trade
21:25across the whole continent. Brighton and Hove Albion football club of 20-year-old Cameroonian
21:31offensive midfielder Carlos Baleba mesmerized Andre Onanas, Manchester United in a 2-1 victory.
21:39Doua Baleba stepped onto the green turf at the 73rd minute of play. Still in the Premier League,
21:52Brian Bermos, Brent Ford fell to Liverpool by 0-2 goals. In the Serie A, in Italy,
21:59Frank Zambu Anguissa's Napoli enjoyed a 3-0 win over Bologna, while Jean-Charles Castelletot,
22:07in the posture of the captain of Nantes, walked over Auzerre with a 2-2 victory in the French
22:13League. On their path, Enzo Ciatto and Montpellier suffered a 6-0 bashing from Paris Saint-Germain,
22:21while in Greece, centre-defender Harold Moukoudi of AEK Athens equalised against
22:27Lamia to share the spoils. Still in football, the populations of Bipindi subdivision in the
22:36south region of Cameroon have extended gratitude to the President of the Republic for developing
22:42projects in their area. They sent out the message at the closing game of the first edition of the
22:48Bipindi Communal Unity Super Cup, presided over by Jules Doré Ndongo, Minister of Forestry and
22:56Wildlife and elite of the area. Bruno Ndongwe Funwi reports from Bipindi.
23:03While Tiong'o FC lived the trophy-embracing victory of the maiden edition of the Bipindi
23:08Communal Unity Super Cup after winning Diablo Rouge of Nkpa in penalties in the finals,
23:14the important message passed was that of unity, peaceful coexistence and development.
23:19Member of the elite of the Ocean Division, Minister Jules Doré Ndongo of Forestry,
23:23acclaimed such initiatives from the community, calling on them to work
23:27for the development of their subdivision.
23:44The finals of the 10-day tournament of champions from different villages supervised by the mayor
23:54of Bipindi, Elias Bilon, was equally an event to thank the head of state, President Paul Bia,
24:00for the development projects like mining ventures being executed in the subdivision.
24:05It was equally an occasion for Bipindi, through the Bipindi Party members, to show their unflinching
24:11support to President Paul Bia as a quote on their peers to vote in the upcoming presidential election.
24:18Prizes were awarded to outstanding participants at the competition,
24:21with cultural performances making highlights of the event.
24:27On a similar note, the people of Ebonje, in Tombel subdivision of the southwest region,
24:32used the holiday football tournament organized by an elite of the area, Professor George Ewane,
24:39to extend their gratitude to the President of the Republic for giving them water and electricity.
24:47At the final of the tournament, they resolved to ensure a successful school resumption in the locality.
24:56Romeo Nkenye tells us more.
24:59This is Ebonje, a village in Tombel subdivision with a population of about 15,000 people.
25:06The return to normalcy in the locality since the start of the social unrest
25:11in the northwest and southwest regions has favored the provision of social amenities.
25:16Water supply in Ebonje now exceeds demand.
25:20We are water sufficient because we have a lot of boreholes.
25:24Ebonje no longer knows darkness.
25:27Electricity is available for all, helping in boosting economic activities.
25:33I am a furniture worker.
25:35Everything is moving smoothly, to charge our phone, to have connections.
25:39The existing peace in Ebonje is thanks to concerted efforts between the security forces,
25:45the vigilante committee and the population.
25:48Around these virtues, many actively took part in the second edition
25:53of Professor George Ewane Holiday Championship.
25:56Quarter three finished winners, beating quarter seven in the men's final of the eight-team tournament.
26:02A football competition is a motivating factor to further unite the community,
26:09to bring them together, to make them see reason.
26:12We won an indivisible Cameroon.
26:14Today we have a village in Ebonje.
26:16We have a village in Nehome.
26:17We have a village in Burutu.
26:19We have a village in Mahole and other villages.
26:21So we say thank you to the President of the Republic.
26:23During the occasion, parents were encouraged to send their children back to school,
26:27while didactic material were shared to several young stars.
26:33Let's now go over to Nkaha in Gelimunduka Subdivision in the East Region,
26:38where yet another holiday football tournament grounds to a halt,
26:43with participants all expressing gratitude to the organizers of the events
26:48that kept life moving in the community.
26:51We have this correspondent report from CRTV East.
26:57The finals of the Leisure Holiday Championship between Bayen Dembang and Milang Dembanga
27:01pulled a huge crowd at the Gelimunduka Municipal Stadium.
27:05After 90 minutes of intense struggle between the two teams,
27:08Bayen Dembang emerged winner, three goals to two.
27:10Former Indomitable Lions president at this event, like Achille Webo,
27:13and Jeremy Njetab Fotso, sponsor of this tournament,
27:16encouraged the youths of this locality to be dynamic,
27:19resilient and live in unity.
27:23To be sponsor of such an event and give joy to these young people is priceless,
27:27especially as they consider us as models.
27:31At the end of this championship,
27:33the organizers expressed their satisfaction for the good progress of this tournament.
27:39This was a challenge we have tried to overcome
27:41with the support of our sponsors and some elites.
27:43We hope next year we will do better.
27:45The next year will be much better.
27:47In the presence of the SDO of this administrative unit,
27:50Pakurik, Angola, school kids and academic excellence awards were given to students
27:55to ensure them a good start of the 2024-2025 school year.
28:02And it is also game over for the Holiday Football Tournament
28:06in Kambe in the Dogamantun Division of the Northwest Region
28:09that saw the participation of 50 football teams
28:14with the team from Ako Subdivision grabbing the trophy at the end of it all.
28:19Romeo Kenya reports.
28:22They got their name from Spanish football giants
28:25and Real Madrid of Ako were merciless against Boca Juniors of Minoa
28:29from whom they spanned two goals to nil.
28:32This is a fourth edition.
28:34Real Madrid-Ako is coming in for the very first time as emerging victorious.
28:38I am so very, very glad.
28:40The tournament coordinator says it instilled in the athletes and spectators
28:45the respect for cultures, boundaries
28:47and brought out the great footballing quality of the youth.
28:52I have never imagined that Dogamantun could produce that quality of football.
28:56Despite the rains, the quality of football was superb.
28:59The senior divisional officer of Dogamantun
29:02appreciated the Kamte General Manager Yajudit Sombi Achidi
29:06for the initiative which he says helps promote social cohesion.
29:11The football team is ten-displaced.
29:13I hope that every day, the pace of the community will be better.
29:20Apart from the trophy and cash prizes given to the winners,
29:24outstanding players were also rewarded
29:26like the player of the tournament, the top scorer and the best goalkeeper.
29:34And that's it for the 7.30.
29:35But before we go, just a reminder for you.
29:37You got the minister of Cameroon's Minister of Public Works
29:40making very key declarations there concerning work on the Mora Dabanga Kuseri Road.
29:47And though the declarations were done in Yaoundé at the press event yesterday,
29:51I will be covering the entirety of that declaration
29:54broadcast to you live on the CRTV after the 8.30 news in the French language.
29:59Thanks for being there.
30:00We'll be back tomorrow.
30:10Bye.
