00:00France 24's Clovis Casali is reporting for us from the Elysee Palace in Paris on the political action this week.
00:07Clovis, what can you tell us about the latest round of negotiations set for today?
00:11Who's going to be involved and what is likely to come out of it?
00:17It's a fresh round of talks but without key players, without the left who decided not to take part,
00:22the far right not even invited,
00:25and President Macron is left with his traditional allies as well as some minor groups, independents.
00:31Yesterday in a statement the French presidency said
00:34President Macron might also talk to people with experience so you can imagine former presidents like Nicolas Sarkozy, François Hollande,
00:42maybe former
00:44Prime Ministers, but clearly France is entering a period of uncertainty
00:49in the unknown with still no prime minister who would get the backing of a majority of MPs in parliament.
00:58And meanwhile, the French president is coming under increasing
01:02pressure, fire from many players and many political parties saying he caused this chaos as they say.
01:11Clovis, the French left as you mentioned there, perhaps unsurprisingly
01:16rather furious at Macron's refusal to follow tradition and appoint their candidate as prime minister. What is their next move?
01:26Well, the left is clearly coordinating its attacks, its criticism this morning, calling this a denial of democracy. The French
01:34president criticized by all of the left-wing parties, the greens, the socialists, the radical left, the socialists,
01:41even saying that President Macron is trying to steal
01:45their victory. The left-wing bloc finished first in the past elections, but without getting that outright majority
01:52in order to pass freely laws in parliament, and that's why President Macron
01:56refuses to appoint a left-wing prime minister. The left-wing getting mobilized, calling its supporters
02:02to turn up en masse on the streets with a protest planned for September 7th.
02:08All right, France 24, Clovis Casale reporting for us from the Elysee Palace in Paris. We'll be following the story closely as it develops.
