00:00In sickness and in health, that's what we swore when we got married.
00:05And the biggest hurdle that we experienced is when we found out that my husband has chronic kidney disease or CKD.
00:16It all started with a toothache.
00:19One time, my husband experienced toothache so he went to his dentist.
00:26And then the dentist said he needed to have a root canal.
00:31So before proceeding, he checked his blood pressure and he saw that his BP was high.
00:38So he told him that he needed to go to his doctor to get clearance.
00:43But his doctor didn't give him clearance because he wanted him to have a lab test first.
00:50That's when we found out that his creatinine was too high.
00:55His creatinine level was already 800 and the normal was only around 100.
01:02At first, my husband didn't want to get a dialysis so we tried alternative medicine.
01:09But after a few months, he started to have congestion in his lungs and he started to feel pain in his face and legs.
01:19So we had no choice but to start his dialysis.
01:23Having a chronic kidney disease is life-changing but it's not a life sentence.
01:29So it's important that you're knowledgeable about it.
01:33There's an article at Smart Parenting that is very informative about chronic kidney disease.
01:39Go check it out at the link in my bio.
