00:00It's not just the sale of pork in the market that is affected by the ASF's impact on the pork.
00:05Even the piglets in La Loma are losing their income due to the fear of the customers who bought their products.
00:12That's the story of JM and Sinas.
00:15JM!
00:20Maris, even though the pigs that are being sold here in La Loma are guaranteed to be clean and of good quality,
00:25there are some stores here that are affected by the ASF's impact.
00:29The Bureau of Animal Industry is continuously inspecting the market
00:33to ensure that the pigs that are being sold here in Metro Manila are not affected by the ASF's impact.
00:40The sales of pork in the store of Magdomeng in La Loma, Quezon City is good.
00:44In the past, there were 6 to 10 pigs displayed on the display.
00:48But now, they reduced the number of pigs.
00:51Because they reduced their sales by almost 30%.
00:54Even though they are sure of the quality of their store and that they are not affected by the African Swine Fever or ASF-3,
01:01the fear of their customers cannot be avoided.
01:05Now, we are really affected by the pig's illness.
01:11I have sold 6 to 3 pigs in my store.
01:14They are handsome and clean.
01:16Their pigs are also under regular inspection.
01:20Here, the pig's appearance and smell are checked to ensure their safety.
01:25In provinces like Quezon, Marinduque, Mindoro, and Ceburao,
01:29the pigs that are being sold in La Loma are of good quality.
01:32Actually, there are no positive results that we are getting.
01:36All of them are negative.
01:38The pigs are healthy.
01:40We are surprised because those are the ASF-affected areas.
01:45In a press conference in Quezon City, led by Mayor Joy Belmonte
01:48and the Bureau of Animal Industry,
01:50they were assured that the pigs' food is safe in Quezon City.
01:54They put checkpoints in their main streets in Quezon City
01:59to prevent shipments of ASF-contaminated pigs.
02:04Four shipments were prevented from being put in checkpoints and tested.
02:09188 pigs tested positive for ASF.
02:13And 154 were held because they showed symptoms of African Swine Fever.
02:19As of now, we are condemning close to 200.
02:23Last night, there were more than 100.
02:28The Quezon City LGU issued an ordinance
02:31prohibiting the placement of backyard hog raising in households.
02:34They also promised that they will buy the pigs
02:38that will be turned over to the Quezon City Veterinary Office.
