00:00He would just jump from the counter onto my shoulders.
00:03You cracked me up, boy.
00:06I was kind of nervous at first because I was like, I don't know this cat.
00:09I don't know what this is about.
00:13He came into my life at a very tumultuous time.
00:16You're the silliest boy.
00:19When I was breaking up with my ex-fiancé, two weeks before I moved out,
00:23one of the vets reached out to me asking if we could take on a cat that was surrendered
00:29who was injured and needed some TLC.
00:32Ready to hitch a ride with me? Go make some coffee?
00:35Come on. Come on.
00:37I was like, I'll do it. Yeah, of course. I'll do it.
00:40It'll be my therapy.
00:43He was found by a Good Samaritan on the street with a very large neck wound.
00:48I brought him home.
00:50Come on, bud.
00:51He was really young. He was like under three.
00:55But he just looked like a really old cat because of how he came in.
01:00When I first saw the videos you sent me, I thought he was older.
01:03Wow, I didn't know he was three.
01:05I kind of figured that because you're like, how's he doing? Is he still kicking?
01:09He was very clingy to me, but he also did not like to be on the ground whatsoever.
01:15He panicked when I put him down.
01:17Come on.
01:18Why do you like to sit up here by the toaster oven?
01:21This is where you slept all night, I heard.
01:23For the longest time, he'd kind of be on my kitchen counter on a pizza box.
01:28That's the only place where he was comfortable.
01:30What are you doing, bud?
01:32You have a whole cat bed and you are sleeping on a freaking pizza box.
01:36He didn't want anything to do with the cat bed.
01:38He just wanted to sleep on top of that pizza box.
01:41And I was like, okay, let him hang out up there.
01:44You have a choice tonight.
01:46You have a choice between a nice soft blankie with a heating pad underneath
01:52or a cardboard box.
01:55We'll see tomorrow which one you choose.
01:57Flicking of the tail means they're like agitated.
01:59And I don't really know if that's the case or not.
02:02Still getting to know him.
02:05He had a medical condition that was affecting his behavior as well as his physical health.
02:12The medicine started helping.
02:14He started to blossom.
02:16Are you playing? This is the first time I've ever seen you play.
02:20Are you playing?
02:22I started to see his kitten energy come out.
02:30The amount of love and the amount of trust that he had for me.
02:36That's when I was like, okay, I have to honor this cat and keep him.
02:44We definitely had that bond and he helped me tremendously.
02:48I know, I was trying not to cry. I was like, don't cry, don't cry.
02:51No, I mean, but when you're talking about this, I just remember how animals have come in my life
02:55and those have been those major transitional, like, challenging, lonely, stressful times.
03:00Yeah.
03:01This cat was literally hugging me through some of the most difficult periods of my life.
03:18I love you.
