00:00A performance test for Pyongyang's new suicide drones, overseen by Kim Jong-un and shared
00:05with the world's media. Armed with explosives, these drones are programmed to follow a specific
00:10trajectory to reach and destroy a target. Apparently capable of flying more than a thousand
00:16kilometres, that puts most of South Korea in range. Seoul's Ministry of Defence reacted
00:22to the test.
00:24Let me emphasize once again that if North Korea provokes, we will punish in a firm and
00:29overwhelming manner.
00:31North Korea sent drones across the border in 2022, which Seoul was unable to shoot down
00:36due to their size, and the South has since invested in better preparedness for a drone
00:41attack. On seeing images of those tested on Saturday, experts have noticed a close resemblance
00:46to Russian unmanned aerial vehicles. Further fuelling speculation on the extent of Russia's
00:52military cooperation with the prior state.
00:56We understand that some drones were exchanged as gifts between North Korea and Russia in
01:02the past. We need to perform various analyses to see if those have improved performance.
01:08A Russian delegation arrived in Pyongyang on Monday amid longstanding suspicion of close
01:14military cooperation between the countries, and even that North Korea is funnelling ammunition
01:19and missiles into the Russian war in Ukraine.
