Flooding has killed more than 20 people in northeast India and at least 30 in Bangladesh. The extreme weather has affected millions of homes, with many people still stranded.

00:56Across the border in Bangladesh, water is receding in many areas after floods there
01:00left more than 30 dead and millions cut off without food, water or electricity.
01:07The race is now on to ferry those isolated to safety and get essential items to people
01:12in need. Officials here warn that some areas will remain
01:28submerged for the next few days. This is at least the second time in as many
01:34months that the region has been hit by deadly deluges.
01:39In July, monsoon rains across India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan also devastated large areas
01:47of those countries. Experts say that extreme weather like this
01:51is on the rise as the planet warms due to carbon emissions.
01:55And officials across this region warn that the climate crisis will disproportionately
01:59affect poorer rural communities less well placed to mitigate the devastating consequences.
