00:00As my good pal, Nate Bush used to say from West Virginia, his team's got a fresh paint
00:08a coat.
00:09Yep.
00:10That's what he used to say.
00:11It was a fun thing to say.
00:12You got to love those little Southern isms, right?
00:14When they flip things around like that, but I can't believe I'm excited about the Washington
00:17commanders.
00:18I haven't been excited about the Washington commanders from a fantasy perspective.
00:21I don't know.
00:22My whole life I got, I'm trying to really think about, I'm trying to, I mean, I wasn't
00:28playing fantasy back then on art Monk and Gary Clark.
00:31I mean, fantasy was barely even a blip on the radar back then.
00:35So this is a whole new thing.
00:38We're into a different regime, different ownership, different head coach.
00:42I like the head coach.
00:43Dan Quinn is a good football man.
00:44He has been around where he's been.
00:46They have won.
00:47Yes.
00:48He's had some talent there, but I think sometimes you get coaches, good coaches when they get
00:52that second chance.
00:53I've talked about this on the show before pay attention to it.
00:56The commanders are going to be a problem.
00:57I think they're going to be a problem early on.
00:59They're going to cover a lot more games that people realize and games where maybe they're
01:01not the favorite.
01:02They're going to be very plucky.
01:03They're going to pull off some upsets.
01:04I'm telling you, this is going to be a team to watch potentially because it's so much
01:09new and so much excitement.
01:10It's so much of fresh.
01:11They don't have, you know, I think the shackles of the past really around them right now,
01:15not with the ownership, not with the head coach.
01:18It's all new.
01:19And it starts with Jaden Daniels.
01:22Jane Daniels, I think is a phenomenal talent.
01:25What he did at LSU.
01:26Yes.
01:27He's got a lot of talent around him, but a player that is really exciting.
01:31The athleticism is off the charts.
01:33He's got a great arm.
01:35Good accurate quarterback has that ability to make the big play in the big spot has the
01:40ability to get out there in space and just break ankles.
01:44And he is part of this new look quarterback scenario that's going on in the league.
01:48We've been seeing it time and time again.
01:50So Jaden Daniels, if you don't want to take Anthony Richardson as ADP, but you want all
01:55the fun of the rushing quarterback, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you Jaden Daniels
02:00QB 12.
02:01He's practically free.
02:03Go around early and then you get back it up in the last round.
02:06If you really are terrified with a Matthew Stafford or a Kirk Cousins or any of those
02:09guys who in single QB league, sometimes even go undrafted.
02:13There's nothing wrong with that.
02:14You have the best of both worlds.
02:16You can even pick and choose your matchups.
02:17If you really are afraid of genuine Jane Daniels, but you want the upside of what he could be.
02:22And I, for one, I'm coming closer to wanting to draft Jaden Daniels at his ADP than Anthony
02:28Richardson at his, because Richardson's has gone so high at this point.
02:31So this is the evolution of draft season.
02:34I think Daniels can make everybody on this team immediately better.
02:37You look at some of the quarterbacks they've had the last couple of years.
02:39It's been absolutely brutal, Matt.
02:41So I'm very excited about Jaden Daniels.
02:43My question to you here to start, am I too excited?
02:46Am I too much in that fantasy nerd projection realm where everything's going to be sunshine
02:52and rainbows, or do you think I am correct in my love and excitement for this young quarterback
02:57in Washington?
02:58Well, one thing you've often spoke of is value, right?
03:02And you mentioned it in the diatribe there about if you want the Anthony Richardson's
03:06of the world, but you don't want to spend that price.
03:08You can get arguably the same type of function and form for a much more decreased price in
03:15Jaden Daniels.
03:16Now, full disclosure, I'm Commander's fan, been that way since I'm a kid.
03:18I'm incredibly excited for what this brings to the team.
03:22The defense, I think, is underrated.
03:23I think this is a good football team.
03:24And also, you talk about extending drives.
03:26I think Daniels has that ability, and that's something that hasn't been seen in Washington
03:30for quite some time.
03:31It makes the backfield exciting because I also think you have a two-headed monster back
03:35there.
03:36It also makes the receivers incredibly exciting as well, and I'm glad we have time to have
03:39this conversation because I want to dive deeply into all of that.
03:42Let's start with the backfield here.
03:44Brian Robinson Jr., Austin Eckler, both of them incredibly formidable out of the backfield
03:48in PPR leagues.
03:49One would carry a bit more weight than the other, but I want to hear from you.
03:53Brian Robinson is being drafted as RB32 right now, and last year he finished as RB22, which
03:59I think matters.
04:00I just want to put that out there first.
04:04Now, I understand people are going to say, well, Austin Eckler showed up, and that's
04:07fair, except for the fact that Brian Robinson is the early down back, Brian Robinson is
04:11the goal line back.
04:13Those are some pretty valuable touches, I think, and especially the goal line work.
04:17That's the thing I want the most.
04:18Can we lose some of those to Jaden Daniels?
04:19Sure.
04:20If I want to keep Jaden Daniels upright, I'm very careful about how I use him around the
04:24goal line.
04:25I do not want Jaden Daniels taking too many shots around there.
04:27I want to make sure that guy is healthy because I need him.
04:30I don't want to drop down anymore.
04:32I want to ride this wave of good feelings.
04:35Brian Robinson had a really good career at Alabama, a very steady running back.
04:38His career, I think, got lost in the shuffle of all the other big names that played around
04:42him, but every time you watch in those Alabama games, there's Brian Robinson getting that
04:47first down.
04:48There's Brian Robinson just continuing to be that consistent dude, and I think he can
04:51be that for the Washington Commanders, and I do think Dan Quinn's going to want to run
04:54the football.
04:55Now, Austin Echler might be the biggest beneficiary, in my opinion, of the Jahan Dotson trade because
05:03if you're looking for vacated targets, I think Echler in those passing down scenarios, Echler
05:10maybe even working in the slot a little bit might be a better thing for his health at
05:15this stage in his career and the workload he's had.
05:18Echler can still be an asset, but I think it's more of a flex option than it is an RB2
05:23option.
05:24I think that's more where Echler's value might be.
05:26Now, look, it could completely turn on its ear in three weeks, and I might be wrong about
05:30this, but from what I'm getting from all of those folks that are following the team, what
05:35you're getting from the coaching staff is that Brian Robinson is the lead back in this
05:39backfield.
05:40I want the lead back.
05:41I want the guy with the goal line touches.
05:43He's also a guy that can catch the football.
05:45He had more than 30 catches last year.
05:46It's not like he can't catch the football at all.
05:48Austin Echler's there.
05:49It's going to be a little weird at times, but I think more often than not, Brian Robinson
05:52is that consistent guy who's going to give you the better floor every week.
05:55Maybe he doesn't have the high ceiling that an Echler has, but I think the floor is better.
06:00So I'm going to take Brian Robinson and take a look at this map.
06:03Zach Moss going ahead of Brian Robinson.
06:05What?
06:06Nick Chubb, who's not going to play for the first eight games of the season, going ahead
06:09of Brian Robinson.
06:10That's absurd to me.
06:11I love Nick Chubb, but I can't justify that ADP over Brian Robinson.
06:16It just makes no sense to me.
06:18And the last guy to really point out to in the value is Terry McLaurin, a guy that's
06:22kind of become the unofficial mascot of the show.
06:24Four straight years of a thousand yards receiving with some of the worst quarterback play you've
06:28seen in the NFL, and he's being drafted as a 30th wide receiver off the board.
06:33What am I missing here?
06:34Please, I am begging all of you draft Terry McLaurin.
06:39He is going to get more extended drives, more scoring opportunities with Jaden Daniels
06:43as the quarterback.
06:44Terry McLaurin could have his best season ever this year.
06:48He's a special talent drafted everywhere you possibly can.
