Transcript
00:00Kate, this is a special year isn't it for Oldford Craft Market?
00:10It certainly is. 50 years. I haven't been here 50 years. I feel like it some days but
00:18I haven't. But yes, it's the 50th year of the Oldford Craft Market this year.
00:22Now describe it to the people who might be thinking, oh, you know, another day we've
00:29got a chance to go. Describe what it is.
00:32I think the Oldford Craft Market has a very warm, friendly, welcoming atmosphere. We are
00:38a please give what you can afford event so there isn't a specific charge on the gate.
00:45We ask for a donation if you can afford it simply because we're self-funded and that's
00:51how we put our event on year after year. We have some fantastic quality stalls here.
00:59How many have you got here this year? Are they from all around the county?
01:03Yes, they are from all over the county. We are supporting the teenage market as well
01:09this year so we have some representatives from that. We've got live music morning and
01:15afternoon. In the morning we have banjo bourbon, in the afternoon we have the acoustic music
01:19at the back. We also have tile making workshops and again, these things we don't charge for.
01:28And there's storytelling. Punch and Judy as well. I can't remember everything. Today we
01:35have the Vintage Games, unfortunately they're not here tomorrow. We've got nice weather,
01:40we've got nice people, we've got cheese, we've got fantastic silver toys.
01:42And it's in the beautiful settings as well of the Oldford Manor House, isn't it?
01:47It's a relaxed atmosphere. The Manor House have tea, coffee and cake. So you can come
01:52and sit in the gardens when you ponder a purchase. You can wander around, you can chat to all
01:57the makers because all the people on the stalls are the people who make their things so they
02:01know absolutely everything that there is to know about their goods. And yeah, I just think
02:07we're a nice, friendly, fun place to come. And you've got your own jewellery stall here
02:13here as well.
02:16And I've been wearing these earrings for 30 years. Kate made them and they're my favourite
02:27earrings, never have them off.
02:29Right, so you're coming to have a look at what she's got this time?
02:33Oh yeah, I'm wearing all her things. I love coming. It's great and she's such a wonderful
02:39girl. She's looked wonderful. Yeah, she'll look after you. But she's got some very original
02:44things.
02:45It's absolutely fantastic.
02:46Oh, well thank you.
02:47She'll love it.
02:48Well, there you go.
02:49I know, they're glowing reviews. No pressure then.
02:54Yeah, yeah.
02:55Thank you, Jill.
02:56Well, it's all going really well. One more day to go, haven't you?
03:01Absolutely.
03:02So Oldford, yeah, it's bank holiday Monday.
03:05It is. Come along, see us. All the car parks in Oldford are free. If the car parks fill
03:12up, there is a car park not so far away that they are charging a pound, I believe, a day
03:17to park in Oldford Football Club. And yeah, come down and see us.
03:24Now I've come along to see Amanda Brown and her beautiful glassware. Amanda, tell me about
03:30what you do.
03:32Well, I just enjoy making glass suncatchers and just decorations to hang up in the window
03:44or earrings. Everything starts off as a flat piece of glass and I cut it and it goes in
03:53the kiln and well, hopefully comes out okay.
03:57You've got all sorts of different designs here, haven't you?
04:01Yes, I like flowers.
04:03Things to put in windows and hang on trees and jewellery holders.
04:11Handle holders.
04:12Pictures. Yeah, all sorts of different ideas. How long have you been coming to Oldford Craft
04:19Market?
04:21I would say probably 10 years getting on, I think. Yeah, 10 years making things.
04:29Is it a market that you enjoy?
04:31Usually, yeah. It's quite often extreme weather.
04:35Well, yeah, it was a bit wild yesterday, wasn't it? We've got sunshine today, haven't we?
04:41And I like this spot where I am because I do get a bit of sunshine.
04:46You get a bit of shelter from the shed as well, I would imagine.
04:49Yeah, I do. And a bit of creosote smell.
04:52Oh, yeah, well, that's...
04:54It's quite nice, actually.
04:56Okay, right. So obviously that will keep you smiling for the rest of the afternoon.
05:01But thank you and good luck for the rest of the weekend.
05:04Thank you very much. Thank you.
05:06I'll do it. I'll do it once again. Come on, Mr. Pudge. Say bye-bye. Bye-bye.
